  1. Sorry pickels (did you get a new profile picture?), you are getting responses from all the long sailors.  We once did a 5 day and we had barely time to unpack before we had to debark.  We don't even like 7 day ones unless they are B2B with another one.  Our next is 40 days.

  2. I can't remember if anyone has mentioned it, but travelling westbound, you get some 25 hour days.  We have done the Honolulu to Vancouver 3 or 4 times and we love it except for the 23 hour days!!!  We like to stay in our timeshare in Kauai and then sail home.  This makes leaving Kauai easier!  I really do wish Celebrity would come back to Kauai as it is truly beautiful.

As for the amount of sea days, we have never been bored.  Celebrity doesn't want a pile of bored passengers so they do a great job of providing things to do.  Our record now, because of COVID, is 17 days at sea when no one would let Eclipse dock last March.  I can truthfully say we were not bored as Celebrity did a great job of keeping us entertained.

Pack a jacket for Vancouver and the first few days sailing.  Hopefully it will still be warm enough not to need it.  I'm sure you'll have a great time.

  3. I think your questions have been well answered.  I would just like to tell you that you chose the right side of the ship as Vancouver is a lovely city to sail from...no bias here!  September is usually a nice month here but you are near the end of it so you could get some rain, hopefully not.

As Hskr Crsr pointed out, you can upgrade to A1 for the price of A2.  In fact I just did that a few hours ago (not on your cruise) and saved $550 each.  I don't know why it was so much but who am I to complain?  One thing to keep in mind is that the A1 cabins are under the pool and there can be some chair noise.  I chose 1573 as it seems to be under a white space.  I would have preferred a cabin on the slant but there were none available on the port side.

  4. I don't have any menus but I would highly recommend the Lawn Club Grill.  it is fee based, I think $45/pp but you can sometimes get a discount if they are not well booked.

Silhouette is my favourite Celebrity ship.  Enjoy your cruise.

Same protocol as when Norovirus is on board.  No self-serve anywhere.  By doing this across all lines, Noro most likely will be eliminated.  Another plus IMHO.  🙂

Absolutely.  Never want to have Noro again.

  6. Very good advice Flyer Talker.  Based on your name, I imagine you are on the Flyer Talk forum and know what you are talking about.  I just researched this same subject as we will be sailing from Tokyo and we want to spend a few days in the city prior to cruising.  Haneda is definitely the better airport for the reasons you specified.

We sailed with Celebrity several times but no longer. Do not like paying for things we do not do, use or eat or drink. I will not pay double the price of other cruise lines. Disney is another way over priced ship. At lease Celebrity give you something for your money. We will miss cruising with Celebrity.

I agree with you.  We think Celebrity is making a mistake in not giving an option to the AI for the reasons you have stated.

Always: Celebrity  Sailed them exclusively for 20 years, but this may change.

    Never:  Carnival , Costa, NCL

    Try: HAL, Cunard, Azamara

This is a great thread OP.  I also like the idea of posting on other boards to see the different responses.

My next cruise 🤞is on the Journey and I doubt they will renovate by November ’21.

Yes, please let us know.  We would prefer the Den too.

  9. I am not an Azamara cruiser yet but we are booked on the Journey Asia Intensive Apr 26, 2022.

We have been to Japan twice.  The first time we arrived Mar 29 and later that week walked around Tokyo spellbound by the cherry blossoms.  They are indescribable.  So, I would opt for March if you want to see them at their fullest.  Apparently they peaked the earliest this year in 1200 years and looked beautiful Apr 5!  if you have the option to view them at night, it is spectacular.  They back light them and people picnic beneath them. enjoying the whole experience and drinking sake.

I fear we will be too late to see them at their best next year.

Maybe cherry blossoms are not on your list of interesting things to see at all. In that case the Apr departure date might be a little warmer.

Enjoy your cruise.  Japan is wonderful and the people are so gracious.

It seems to be coming up at c£7500 per person this morning.  I suspect there is a “sale” coming along and of course in the UK we can’t have non genuine sale offers, the item has to have been sold at a higher price at some recent point to comply with consumer legislation.  So the message for UK guests may well be dont book now given there is an offer running in the USA.  Maybe our sale will start tomorrow or later. Yes you can book in the USA but you take the risk that sterling might be in a bad place at final payment

We deal with that all the time with our Cdn $.  You probably know that the current US sale is 60% off the second passenger.  Not quite as good as up to 40% (we got 30%) and $500 OBC.

  11. This is a very interesting thread.  We are so happy to have received our first shot of Pfizer.  Can't say zippedy do da yet, as we have to wait 4 months in Canada for the second one.  Hopefully as more people get the first vaccine that length of time might be shortened.

I respect the right of people who do not want the vaccine for whatever reason but they do not have the right to endanger the rest of us.  I do hope the cruise lines stick to their mandate of allowing only vaccinated people on the ships.  What would this world be like in a year or two if everyone refused the vaccine?
