  1. His character as a retired cop in the Christmas movie even has a little bit of a New York slash Fonzie confidence and arrogance but he was the most down to earth nicest guy I ever met from Hollywood. My liking him also helps that he is a big KC Chiefs football fan. He kinda adopted the team as his favorite and has gotten to know Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelcie real well.
  2. I have actually met him and did an interview with him when he was in Kansas City many years ago. He actually was extremely nice and likable. Maybe it was the characters he played that you didn’t care for?
  3. I hope you see him and can ask him if he will be working the 10/18 sailing or will he be on vacation? Hopefully I get to meet him. Tell him to be on the lookout for Sea Dog. I plan on spending a lot of time there trying the cocktails.
  4. I have actually seen it and enjoyed it. The Hallmark channel all this month is rerunning all their Christmas movies for Christmas in July. The other night had one of my all time favorite’s called “Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” It stars Henry Winkler. Brook Burns and Warren Christie. It’s about a snowbound stranger who brightens the holidays for a retired cop (winkler) and his niece and her little boy. It’s a great rom com. Very funny and cute. Check it out if you can.
  5. Same with me but I look at it as I diet and workout so I can go on a cruise and splurge with eat and drink.
  6. Thanks is that Navigator too? I will be interested if so on how you liked it. First time for us on that itinerary.
  7. Thank you for sharing this update John. We are here for you and love you. You are blessed with Sharon and a great family. They will help you stay strong and know I am with you each and every way.
  8. It is where our home theater is. We haven’t used as much in the last few years. May need to rethink it. I have a dehumidifier down there and it’s always running during the summer months. The water did not accumulate very much just to wet the pad and carpet. The sump pump pit is dry as our builder ran the drain tile around the foundation into the sewer. Upon further inspection it looks like around my basement window sill some dirt is gone. Maybe this is where the water is coming from. That’s what I don’t understand. The drain tile around the house goes into place he sewer so in 26 years we have never had the sump pump turn on. We had water in the same area before and we traced it to no flashing that was installed above in the kitchen. We had that repaired and thought we would be free of any problems. It also doesn’t help that we got 7 inches of rain in the last couple of days.
  9. The hits keep on getting better. Basement has a soaked carpet at one end. Sump pump hole was dry so not exactly how the water is coming in even though we did extra waterproofing when we built the house. Needless to say I am upset on this holiday I already hate.
  10. Luckily the turf drains really well. I had a bunch of mulch debris on it but I swept part of it up and can leaf blow the rest. I am also lucky in that the turf sits up about 4 inches higher than the rest of the yard.
  11. Rough night last night with heavy storms and rain. Because we have hills all behind us we get nailed. Luckily it flows between the houses but I have a lot cleanup to do.
  12. Yes I agree. Part of my decision not liking fireworks happened several times as a kid resulting in trauma. First as a kid maybe 4 or 5 I was at a backyard 4th of July party where a friend of my dad’s attempted to light an M-80 and throw it up in the air. The wind caught it and blew it back into him and it blew up near his hand causing him to lose a finger. Seeing it horrified me. Then as a middle schooler some kids were lighting off firecrackers. As a joke one of them lit off a string right behind me really close. Not only did it scare the crap out of me. It made me almost deaf for 30 minutes. My ears were ringing so loud that I had thought I had permanently lost my hearing. Needless to say I am not of fan of fireworks. I like a good professional display but regular people with fireworks, add alcohol and just plain stupidity equals bad outcomes.
  13. Adventure was our first Royal ship we sailed on for out 20th wedding anniversary. We have been on her again last October. Great ship with a special spot in our hearts. Love sailing on her as she is just the right size. Not too small, not too big.
  14. I actually hate 4th of July for many reasons but mainly as I had to work covering the news that night for many years. I can’t tell you how many stories I did about people blowing their hands off with fireworks. I love a good display but leave fireworks to the professionals.
  15. I just saw that I am officially over 10,000 posts. Still not in the big leagues like some others but I am getting there. Thanks for reading some of my mindless wanderings.
  16. My son Jonathan sent me this picture of his Drave (black and white) with his newest additions brother and sister who I forgot their names. Looks like they are getting along just fine.
  17. There are too many good bourbons you can get anytime than to chase. Rare Breed for example. Great bourbon that is always stocked everywhere. I find it interesting that it is most of the Buffalo Trace stuff that is hard to find. Makers and Wild Turkey don’t seem to have a problem keeping stores stocked.
  18. Yeah I just got tired of chasing. There are too many other people doing it. If I happen to see a unicorn I will get it but I am not going to drive all around town like some people do looking for stuff.
