  1. Hi! So my guy has never agreed to cruising and I finally got him to go on one this January! I'm doing everything I can to make this really nice so he will want to get married on a ship :)

I've heard it can be pricey to have the wedding on board. Has anyone done the wedding on an island? I really don't want any kind of religious undertones at all as we are both atheist and anti theist. The chapel is pretty but small as well and I don't think everyone would fit.

Can anyone tell me about RCCL weddings specifically and what they thought of the cost and ease of planning? If we get several cabins booked do we get any kind of benefit like on a land resort?

  2. If it is too early to check your bags you can pay to store your luggage at FLL - from there you can head out to someplace fun for a boozy lunch or the beach.

Roadway Inn is a basic, budget motel that offers day rates if you want a nap, shower, or quick dip in the pool; not anywhere close to the beach. :(

Thanks John! I didn't know that about the airport! I'm going to go check on it now thank you :)

  3. Hi! So we were going to do the everglades excursion on our last day. However I got a crazy good airfare rate and our plane leaves at 5pm. We don't want to sit at the airport for hours after our excursion. I was wondering if anyone knows a nice Ft Lauderdale hotel that will do day passes so they can keep our luggage and we can use their beach chairs/umbrellas? I think this would be a relaxing end to our vacation. If not that, anyone have any other ideas for something fun to do (not into history or space shuttle) there after we get off the ship to kill time until our flight?

  4. It's not what was said, but how it was said.

I agree that pulling the 10x card is off putting. I think if you spent that much you probably are just bad at sales or negotiating. But the people saying 'oh who cares that you didn't get a pillow menu!!' boo hoo' and the like sound as stupid as someone saying 'I paid for milk at the store and they didn't give it to me in my bag but boo hoo!! I still got the soda I paid for! Jeez, what do you expect? What you paid for?? Duh!' to me. I mean, you have to agree that berating someone for being pissed at not getting items advertised in the price they paid is pretty stupid, right? It's like saying well you had a good shopping trip and got lots of other good things that you paid for so who cares if you got the milk you paid for?!

Even the entitled deserve to get what they paid for ;)

  5. I did lol at the confusion over pillow menus! :p I love these when I stay at land resorts as it's just another wonderful luxury perk! Who doesn't like perks?

I will say this. When I purchase a vacation with my hard earned money I expect exactly what is advertised. Exactly. If I am to get a Jacuzzi on my balcony and a pillow menu it had better be there or I will call to the highest person I can find to be compensated. I work hard for my money. I have a very physical job and when I vacation I like to pamper myself. I spend the money I have on the packages I want. If I spend the money and the product is not delivered I'll make sure it is or I get compensated. I'm in the service industry and my clients get 110% every time.

It baffles me when people laugh at posts where people aren't getting the things they paid for. Do they smile like idiots at the gas station if they get charged for $20 and get $15? Do they nod their heads like a lemming when the grocery store overcharges for the items they actually purchased? Why is a vacation any different? I stayed at The Hyatt Ziva in Jamaica. They advertised certain things in our room that we paid for. Those things were not there. I made sure to go to the desk and get compensated nicely. I'm not stupid and my money is important to me. I'm not going to pay for things not delivered. It's just not smart imo.

  6. Thank you! I'm a groomer and this was our crazy period of the year so now I'm researching again :D I read some reviews and a lot of people seem to have issues with communication. I'm pretty type A so I'm not sure if that's going to help or not lol!

Deciding on the ship, everyone else's budget and time of year is going to be the biggest headache I think! Then I can move on to the actual planning of the wedding. My honey is trying a cruise for the first time and so I can't really do anything until I find out if he enjoys it. Fingers crossed!

  7. Ok poll lovers, please vote! If you have an explanation for your vote please do post it! I'd love to hear it. My fiancé has never cruised before but has finally relented into trying it this January. I chose a 5 day Indy cruise. I really hope he will love it and am doing everything I can to make it great!

My first cruise ever was on Sovereign and it was an inside stateroom because we were super young and super poor lol and just happy to be able to go! The cruise was great though and we had tons of fun.

The next and best cruise I ever had was Radiance. What a gorgeous ship!! So pretty with so many ocean views! The only issue was everything was closed by midnight due to our cruise being mostly 50+. We had no nightlife on the cruise and were bored at times.

So then we did Freedom. I almost felt this was too big but to be fair the person I went with was pretty miserable at the time and our relationship was suffering. I think that can really impact a cruise. He didn't really want to do anything.

I had a hump balcony cabin for both of those last two and that's all I will ever do from now on.

In 2013 I did a family trip on the Explorer. To make sure everyone could go and for $ sake I bunked with my parents in an ocean view on the 2nd deck. I loved that room because I had the murphy bed that came out of the ceiling and hello? Who doesn't want to climb a ladder into bed?? super fun! The view for me out of the porthole was beautiful. From up high all you see is the window view so it was pretty cool. This was right before her drydock and honestly I found the ship a bit tired, massively stained carpets and needing sprucing. It was a very rocky sail from NJ to the Caribbean so being a motion sicky it was tough for me. So much so that I will never sail from NJ again.

Ok that brings us to now! Going on Indy from Ft. Lauderdale. This is a good starter cruise for him, I feel. I'd love to try Oasis class. I love adventure so ziplining sounds cool on board and all the restaurants sound great. Being on a ship big enough for people to feel they are having their own vacay even while being onboard for our wedding is ideal. So CCers. What would you pick for you and for your guest??

  8. Bobbie Telez and her husband run a very nice, modern pharmacy in Cozumel. I've used them for years and always had great service. You can email Bobbie at: ferbambam@yahoo.com and she can tell you whether they carry that and the price. She has also ordered meds for me that she didn't carry. You should get a reply from her within a day or two.

Thank you for that info! I emailed and they are so nice and very helpful! I have an excursion that morning to Chakanaab and should get back to Cozumel by 3:30. Our cruise leaves at 6pm. Do I have enough time to go to the pharmacy from the port at 3:30 and still make it back in plenty of time?

  9. We got off the Indy on Monday after the TA.

Had a great time on her, she still looks good and the staff are great.

Lorenzo in the Schooner bar, friendly and always remembered my name and choice of drink.

Also loved Donald in the Café Promenade! He made me great Caramel Frappacino’s (no coffee) the whole cruise. If he’s there say hello from Jo and partake in one of them for yourself! Yum!! :D

We did pre pay grats and never mind this – we always do MTD

Grease was good, worth a watch.

Relax and enjoy yourself - you'll have a great time

Caramel Frappacino?? That's awesome! I don't like chocolate (I know, I'm nuts! lol) but my knees go weak at the mention of caramel! Would you know if that's included in the deluxe beverage package? Thank you for the review!

  10. Hi everyone! First of all I hope everybody stateside had a great Thanksgiving!! So today I was able to book our excursion for Cozumel on a 20% discount which was awesome! I wanted to book our Ft. Lauderdale excursion for the everglades airboat tour but ran into a snafu. The tour is only at 8:30am. It lasts four hours but brings you back to FLL but our flight isn't until 5:30. Can anyone tell me how late you can stay in your room on disembarkment day? We are thinking maybe we will go to the hotel we are staying at pre cruise and see if they will let us store our bags while we visit the beach and then go hang out in the beach for a bit and take an uber to the airport.

  11. This is awesome thank you so much!!! We are on in January and I'm so excited! So I love topless sunbathing because I HATE tan lines lol so this is very exciting for me! I really had no idea there was such a deck on the ships. I hope they still have this and it isn't just a non US thing!

Your pictures are great and really help to get us excited to cruise. He is a total newbie so he's loving the review, thank you! I had a question for you about the mini bar. Do they not just stock it now? You have to choose what to put in it? And what about snacks? I've always used my minibar and don't mind paying the premium but it looks like your checklist only had beverages.

My man is a real steak and potatoes kind of guy so no filet in Giovannis will be a bummer. Would you be able to get a Chops menu? Thanks again for the review!

Oh, and we are going to be in 7336 - that's not yours, is it? We don't want to get stuck with the problem door!! lol :D

  12. Could tell me what kind of bedding they have? I cannot sleep on very hard beds with hard pillows. Do they have mattress toppers available? Thanks.

We are super concerned about this! My mattress at home is a memory foam mattress with a 4" aloe vera gel pad on top. The reviews of my mattress online call it hard as a rock, too firm, a slab of concrete and more. We love it. I'm still bringing an egg crate type of topper for us just in case. I'll be honest and thorough in my review about the mattress!
