I have appreciated reading all the tidbits of travel in Dubrovnik on this board. Thank you for sharing your city with us.
I had planned on following your suggestion to see the Rupe Granary, but I wanted to check its schedule. I read it is now closed on Tuesdays. Please say it's not so!

Thanks Terry, as you know we are heading there soon and I needed to whet my appetite!

Your photos are always good for increasing our travel excitement. Have you taken pictures in Capri? Thanks.

The taxis line up at the dock, as a group takes the first one in line the next car moves forward. Sorry but you have no chance to figure out who is who, they will all tell you they are Croatian. And again my own personal opinion of this panorama tour is that it is a total waste of money.
Thanks for the advise.

If you are going to use one of the private taxis for a tour, make sure you get the price quote first. Taxi drivers charge whatever they can get for a tour, depending on length of time and size of group. Be sure you ask for a total, not a per person nor a meter fare. Do note that not all taxi drivers here are Croatian, many are from other countries.
Thanks for the tips. Do you have suggestions for finding a Croatian taxi driver, without offending any who are not?

We are enjoying your posts very much. Thanks for sharing your days with us.
I am impressed with your video skills/creativity.
Last year on The Equinox, we had a table mate with a horrible allergy to garlic. Each evening, after our meal, she would go through the next night's menu with the maitre'd and then order her entire meal for the next night.
It worked very well for her.

Our ship docks there on May 1, a holiday. We plan to rent a car and drive somewhere . In 2003, we spent a week driving around some of this area. We have already been to Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Florence and would prefer different towns on this trip. We would appreciate suggestions of things to see and places that would be open on a holiday. A festival or parade would be fine, just not demonstrations. I have emailed a few places such as tourist offices and city halls, but have not had a single response.
Thanks.

*Twice* I've bought Indian sauces that you add to chicken or lamb-and they're VERY spicy-one person's mild is another person's "This is too spicy for me!"
That is so true!!

I love the Indian foods offered daily in the buffet on Celebrity. A few days in a row, I kept running into a pair of officers as I was filling my plate with the curried fish. I mentioned something to them about how much I enjoyed the Indian food and I hoped it would continue to be offered. They assured me that it was the absolute favorite of most of the high ranking officers and it most certainly would be there for many years to come.
We sat next to the captain at a formal dinner and he told me the same. One of his priorities is to keep his staff happy, which means a comfortable bed and good food. Since his officers like Indian food, that is what they get. He often eats below deck at the staff cafeteria and they have even more Indian dishes on offer there, often spicier.
We are lucky to be served a variety of food from around the world. We all have different tastes and can't fault someone who does or does not agree with ours.

Terry, you are very kind to be sharing your cruise blog/photos with us. Thanks for your generosity. It has been my first read every day.
We hope you have a great trip home.
Did they offer the 3 speciality restaurant package on this cruise?
Did your taxi in Dubvovnick take you near the same location where the cable car stops? Thanks.

There is an amazing cave system restaurant in Playa del Carmen called Alux (A-loosh) and it was discovered only recently as well. The food is great, but if you don't have time for a meal, have a drink and wander around admiring the formations. It is a large area to see considering it is underground and all lit.

Deck - 12 Solstice
Cabin # - 2135 – Sky Suite
Starboard or Port Side - Port
Bed near?(balcony or bath) – bath
More than enough storage in drawers and in closet.
Quiet Cabin
Balcony View - Great, would choose port side again for this itinerary.
Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? -Typical skysuite size. It is completely shaded.
Was wind a problem? NA
If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? NA
Any specific problems with this cabin? None. It was a lovely suite with a great butler. Love that cappuchino!

Thanks for your help!

Does anyone know if it is possible to walk from the Renaissance (on 17th St) to the port where Solstice docks? Looking at a map, it apears very close, but there may be fences, etc to make it difficult.
Thanks again to the generous posters who answer all our questions. -
Equinox 9303
All comments as per previous posting are accurate, but we did have a lot of soot on the balcony (aft) on one of the sea days. We had been travelling quite slowly through the Dardenelle Straights, and once we picked up speed, all the soot was released. I am glad I was wearing a ship's robe.

Sorry, that should be 180 E.

We had Bob's Limo service pick us up at the pier around 9am in Civitavecchia. They drove us to Ostia Antica (less than one hour) where we walked around for 90 min or so. Then we stopped for expresso and one last pastry ( we paid for ours and the driver's) before we were driven to the airport. I think we were charged 80 E for everything. We arranged it all by internet before we left Canada and I would recommend it to everyone. Very carefree and relaxing.
