There was on the Koningsdam two weeks ago. It was very quiet there because everyone was being directed to th Lido as they got on. I firmly asked if the Dining Room was open and the staff member said yes somewhat reluctantly. That was about 12:15.

Why would you think that the staff cares about where you eat lunch?  Also, why do you think being rude to a staff member will get you better results?  They always serve lunch in the MDR on embarkation day, Noon to 1:00, anybody is welcome to eat there.  No need to inquire if they are open, just show up between Noon and 1:00.  If for some operational problem they are not open just grab an elevator and go to the lido.

Well it seems that others aren't getting anything they were promised with regards to restaurants according to the website so maybe it's a case of reducing benefits more fairly.

You just do not get it. Your problem is not my problem and your attempt to make it my problem is just plain wrong.  You need to analyze your attitude toward others, operating like you is never going to be productive.

    I hear you Joe.

I spoke to Guest Services last week on this exact issue (they called me the day after I send an email to tellus@...).   Apparently there have been so many people angry and upset over this that we've gotten their attention.  (We'll see if something is done).  I only 1/2 believe this, but he told me explicitly that Viking is going to change the COVID policies they made, of which this is one of them.  Sometime in early 2023.  Specifically, they reduced drastically the number of pre-board reservations that could be made for 2 people due to COVID crowding concerns.  We'd heard of this before.  He claimed it was 70 % tables kept open until boarding.  I again stated they needed to do something now since Viking states that people can indeed get them but they can't.   He said they recognize this now and will be going back to the pre-COVID policies.  Again, I will believe it when I see it.  He stated that now the issue is that all the suites are booking every reservation possible - and not to worry, they cancel a lot of them.  So the 30 % gets used up very fast.  I again said that isn't the point.  I'm not worried about getting a table when I arrive, just would like them to do something.  I suggested they cut down the number of reservations that PS rooms get (6?) in the meantime.  Won't happen.  So let's see if they really do change back to the way it was pre-COVID.

I have a PS Cabin and do not appreciate that you think it is ok to bargain away something I paid for.  You have a problem, trying to make it my problem is beyond selfish.

    From their website:

Fully vaccinated means that a guest received all the doses in an authorized or approved primary COVID-19 vaccine series at least 14 days prior to embarkation.

by this definition you are fully vacvinated

Also, if your last shot was more than 270 days ago, you must have a boster to meet the fully vacinated specifications.

  5. I recently upgraded to a CC Mini Suite from a Mini suite, it cost $1,000 per person for a 15 day cruise.  The price price difference is specific to to itinerary, some cost more than others, but if you want the CC Mini Suite book early.

Any updated information on whether HAL accepts a letter of recovery to board a European cruise out of Amsterdam. I would really like something in writing. Thanks!

    From HAL's FAQ's for Europe.

Exceptions may apply for asymptomatic guests who have tested positive for COVID-19 within 90 days of their embarkation if they are at least 10 days past their COVID-19 infection, are fully recovered with no symptoms and produce documentation of recovery from COVID-19 infection.

Documentation of Recovery consists of the following:

    • Paper or electronic copies of the positive viral test result from a certified laboratory (dated no more than 90 days ago), or
    • A valid digital COVID-19 Certificate (DCC) or a document issued byan health or government authority showing confirmed previous infection.

Guest who present these documents will need to go through a secondary screening at the terminal, and boarding will be approved at the medical staff’s discretion.
