How long have we been subjected to rumors and proposed legislation to eliminate/reduce the size of cruise ships from sailing to their usual terminals in Venice?

I am NOT doubting the environmental reasons for those who want to see this happen.  Yet, nothing ever seems to really happen.  I would suggest that those who are concerned about this issue pour yourself a glass of a good quality of Italian wine of your choice and have a pleasant evening.

This is not a rumor or proposed legislation, it is the law, After August 1st no Cruise ships in Venice,  I love the wine and pleasant evening advice.

Do you think they will be allowed to require that?  I have a feeling there would be an uproar about "vaccine discrimination".  There was a cartoon in our local paper the other day, evidently there are already complaints about unfair treatment.

What is unfair, the vaccination is free and available, person making a choice to endanger their life and the lives of others are making a voluntary decision not to participate in cruising because they are dangerous.

    So true Jim.

Viking were the first to show real leadership and cease operations due to COVID, so it is well past time for Viking to show similar leadership with respect to vaccinations.

The snowflake anti-vaxxers have a right to refuse the vaccine, but it's past time for Viking to state that catagorically they won't be welcome on their ships. The responsibility for the safety of fellow pax and crew should not rest with the countries visited requiring vaccinations. The Health & Safety Plan, with daily saliva tests, etc is a great plan, but the final components must be mandatory vaccinations.

If vaccinations aren't mandatory, we will certainly reconsider our preferred cruise line.

    What is a "snowflake anti-vaxxer?

So, in British Columbia, Canada, we are vaccinating by age and Front line health care workers are being vaccinated first.  I'm 54, and I don't anticipate receiving a vaccine until August.  Many of those workers may not be able to be vaccinated in their home countries?  And waht of those that are currently on board their respective DAM ships?

Pretty sure HAL and the other companies will figure out a way to get their people the vaccine.

  5. My Crystal Ball says my cruise In Search of the Northern Lights February 2, 2021 will be canceled.  The starting date for booking shore excursions has come and gone, still no excursions listed, the starting date for making reservations for Specialty Dining and Spa Treatments for my level of cabin is today, and nothing is available.  The final indicator will be November 19th, the date Viking is to purchase my airline tickets, if that does not happen I will be 100% sure that the trip is canceled.  Also under current travel rules, Great Britain is requiring 14 day quarantine for folks arriving from other countries.

    Why did you post this?

Probably because it is a nice video from a great location at the Southern most town.  I have been there, and thank you for the post it brought out some good memories.

  7. While I am sure the September 27th cruise out of Seattle to Auckland will be canceled, OP is incorrect in the statement that it was canceled in May.  It  is still being sold, and the final payment date is July 29th.  My TA has been in contact with HAL weekly about this cruise as I am using various FCC's and Gift Cards for payment and we are working out the details so I get the most I can when it is canceled.

  8. The numbers of passengers on HAL any given week is about 35,000. Do you truly believe that a couple of hundred of you posting about your unreal expectations on receiving your refunds, will motivate HAL to change their process, during this unprecedented outbreak of sickness?

  9. Dave your really missing the point here.  Your reply says nothing, just like the article.  The fact that someone is considering  something does not mean it is going to happen, nor does it mean it is not going to happen, all that it means is possibly something may or may not happen.  There is no information in that article that would be of any use in planning future travel.
