  1. Today is Sunday and we went to Compass Rose for the first time for breakfast. It is so calm and Zen compared to La Veranda. I followed directions and doubled up on the caviar. Thank you for the suggestion.

    Double Yummy

Today is our last sea day. We are anchored in Bay of Islands tomorrow. Tonight is Krew Kapers and the Captain's dinner. Stay tuned!

  2. Thanks jctdlt for the first hand report. If it worked for you for the world cruise I am sure it will be fine for us if we end up there. We are on a guarantee in G I think. It is a window cabin but we could end up anywhere. There is so little left to choose from that we decided to take the thrifty approach. It has been many years since we have been in a cabin without at balcony.

I think we will go for it. It is a great itinerary I did check the seat guru and saw very little there. Thanks for the help.

Just a note. We are on the 77 days in 860!

  3. Not only me. The first time it happened, in the afternoon before the fist production show, I was in the hall just coming back form lunch. 6-7 people were in the hall wondering where the music was coming from. The sound is pronounced on deck 8 for at least the last 6 cabins on either side of the ship.

    Which suite were you in?

We were in 861 but our friends were further back and neither of us heard anything. For a whole world cruise.....

  4. Not the very back suite, but next to the last but last month I did 10 days on the NAV in #869. The is significant vibration at times at sea for no apparent reason. When docking using the side thrusters the vibration is quite pronounced. The vibration didn't really bother me, but I have sail in some really old buckets and may be used to it. For some it might be a real issue.

One thing to note about the last 5 suites in the NAV aft, they get smaller in size the further back you go because the aft is very rounded. In #869. the closet was about 1/3 less. The suite was about 3 feet shorter; so short that there was a small love seat instead of the regular couch.

My biggest complaint abut being on Deck 8 aft is the noise that come up form thee theater below on beck 6/7. It is very loud, enough so that you can hear every word spoken/sung. You could stay in the suite and hear the show below as well as have been a seat in the theater. Additionally, any of the musical shows are rehearsed in the afternoon about 2 pm for about 45 minutes and at full volume.

Window suites on the NAV? Sailed in one of those too. I think in #512. The cabin is nice sized and for a short cruise in the tropic, we didn't miss the balcony all that much. It was a last minute killer deal, so the price more than made up for the lack of the balcony. I don't know about the deck 6 port side window cabin suites.

Interesting that you heard noises. We never heard a thing.

  6. I just checked the Suiteguru sticky for any aft Navigator reviews and found very little in there. There was one aft review on deck 8 in a Cat F but nothing in G or H cabins, sorry.

On a related note, if you DO happen to sail in an aft cabin, please submit a review for us. :D

We sailed in 861 during previous world cruise. Yes, there were issues with vibrations, but it depends on how you perceive it. We had no problems. Our whole contingent in that area seemed to be satisfied with their rooms.

  7. Wow - what a coincidence! Our first trip to Tahiti was also to Club Med! We spent a few days in Club Med Bora Bora and then spent a week in Moorea. Then, as you likely know, the Club Med in Bora Bora was destroyed by a hurricane and they rebuilt on a different side of the island (we later visited there as well and also returned to Moorea but on a different trip). We were big Club Med people back in the day - doing Phuket, Thailand twice, Marrakesh, Morocco as well as clubs in Mexico. Those were fun days!:D

Was Motu Tapu there when you visited? That is where a lot of the activities and swimming took place.

P.S. It is a shame that both clubs were closed down and now the remaining clubs are Japanese owned.

We also did both places. We were there for Bastile Day and the dish of the day was lobsters, lobsters, etc. Remember “idols of the kings” to call us for dinner, beads for money. We also were Club Med people. So long ago. We did Moto Tapu and learned to do dance which consisted of much drinking...... So long ago!

  8. Thank you very much. My husband and I get off the Mariner tomorrow morning and than it’s a flight to Cusco and we check into the belmond Nazarenes for three nights before we head to Mp. I hope we get those cute hit water bottles! Enjoyed your comments. If I can add to them I will. Captjohn, I booked our tour with Belmond, so I will post if there are any suggestions that may be helpful for you. Off to bed and a big day tomorrow with some coca tea perhaps.

  9. We’ve checked in to the stunning Belmont Hotel Monasterio. This original monastery was built in 1585. Please enjoy a few photos of the Monasterio’s gorgeous courtyard. Thanks to Kuoda Travel we were upgraded to most beautiful suite we have yet stayed at—pls see suite snaps below. Thanks to Jason our Kuoda Travel Personal host while we are visiting Cusco, we are having lunch at Cicciolina one of Cusco’s most popular restaurants before heading out on our afternoon tour of this beautiful city with tons of character.

  10. i am interested in people’s favorite drinks onboard. We seem to get into a “same old” rut with cocktails and would be fun to try some others.

I’ve made note of a few mentioned by Wes and others in other threads, but would enjoy any suggestions.

We mainly drink vodka, rum and gin (and an occasional margarita), but DH enjoys a nice whiskey or brandy drink sometimes too.

After dinner/nightcap cocktail suggestions welcome also!

  11. We woke up to blue skies and a rainbow on the horizon. It's gorgeous! The waves have settled and we feel only slight movement. I am on our balcony looking for the elusive whales.

Our first night in Compass Rose was underwhelming. We were greeted warmly at the desk and taken to our table. We waited about 10 mins. before anyone inquired about drinks. What bothered me most was our waiter appeared with his face in an IPad and asked for our order. No introduction, not even a hello. We are have sailed over 300 nights with Regent. We never had this happen before. They were busy but not crazy busy. I will mention this on my mid cruise questionairre.

They had a rib BBQ for lunch. We ate out on the back of La Veranda. It was beautiful.

Yes, Daniella is on board. We haven't met her yet.

Last year on world cruise did not see whales until we got to Hawaii. Then they were everywhere. Hope this happens again.

  12. Cruise Day #7

Forgot to mention this yesterday around 7am you'd think someone dropped a 500 pound something on the floor above.* About every 10 minutes or so.* A call to the butler, as we told him about it, wow he must have jump a foot when he heard it.**Many calls later and there working on it. It finally stopped around 11:00PM.* Still don't know what it was, except loud. The General Manager came up apologized.* All is good, things happen and they took care of it.

So this morning woke up with rocky ship which never let up throughout the day.* This is our 4th crossing and in the past it was smooth like being on ice gliding across the Atlantic.* Oh well, something new to add for the trip experience.*

Breakfast good at La Veranda.* We haven't made it to Compass Rose for breakfast yet.* Its faster and more convenient for us as we had cooking lessons again this morning.**

The cooking lessons have been great.* The Chef is very good.* The recipes easy, fun and lots of wine poured!* The problem/complaints we're hearing is that you have to stand for 2 to 3 hours. It wasnt a problem for us!* Yesterday we cooked fish and today was chicken.* It's really fun and something you should consider even if you don't cook.

    Spa (Ron) Yesterday*

Canyon Ranch Spas from what I experienced in Tucson, Arizona was luxury and place to be pampered for both men and women.* Yes I realize I'm on a ship so its not going to be the same.* Checked in with a gentlemen who had me fill out paperwork.* After completion he ask for suite card and gave locker key and escorted me to my locker.* Which was a bottom locker.* He states robe and slippers are in locker at end of hall please have a seat and a therapist will come get you.* Okay!* Changed and went to find that seat.* I needed that massage.* There are a lot of amenities there is the aromatic steam room, ice room, and dry sauna.* The pool and outdoor area was closed due to the weather.* So finally just sat and the gentlemen that checked me in was the therapist.* Fast forward:* massage was good.* Have I* *had better yes.* At any rate he said after you put your robe on I'll wait with a glass of water outside the room.* So when I opened the door he gave me water and said you need to sign.* I was in that relax daze low lights dark.* He presented the bill to me!* I dont sign at the front desk.* No, you sign here.* You can leave extra if you want.* I said to him I* believe they include the tip with the 18% added.* No he said thats only my salary, tip is extra.* I don't* think so and just signed the bill and found my way out.*

Lunch was good in Prime7, service also good.* We spend the day just talking with other cruisers, got my book and read some.

When back to the suite to find the roof top part of are deck half off and more noise.* Than all of sudden we had 5 crew in the suite moving* to the deck.* 30 mintues later the half deck cover was gone and taken away.* Life goes on, we're re going to Pacific Rim for dinner.* It was very good and of course the service was outstanding.

After that the Constellation Theater was on the list for tonight.* It was a called "Paradis" brings Parisian nightlight to the stage.* Again I have to say it was very good and entertaining.* From lighting to dancing and everything in between.**

For those that have asked, on a crossing they have a full calendar of things to do if you want.* You really can't do them all even if you tried.* We're not trying and having a great time without doing all the stuff.

Just one more detail, the suite stewards, we have Ali and Fredy.* Always happy and always with a smile.* These guys are the happiest people I've even seen.* And working all the time.* They keep this suite perfect at all times.**

  13. The Culinary Arts Instructor onboard is named Brenda. She is quite pleasant and approachable. A friend took a class and reported to us that it was very good and can’t wait to take more this coming segment.

She is lovely. Went with her yesterday in Cadiz to a restaurant on the seaside. Food was to die for. Best fresh sea bass!!

  14. Diana, is anyone using the pools? do you know if the water is warm? If you could ask them to make sure the water is warm for our boarding we would appreciate it. thanks for your updated and look forward to joining you on Friday.

Weather is cool and beautiful. Not too much use of pool. Tried out the infinity pool. They use sea water and it was green. So it looked like our pool in Arizona when it has algae. But was warm and view was lovely.
