  1. We stayed at Hilton Galveston in January and the parking was included for the week ... this was without a "park and cruise" package that some hotels charge. We parked in the garage 10 feet away from the hotel (convention garage). I was already planning to stay there for our cruise January 2019, but I read that the parking costs extra now. Not sure of the exact cost but I know it's been free for years and just changed in March...had to get those spring break dollars!

If you stay, make sure you get on the list for the shuttle ahead of time. I signed up for the shuttle the day before and was told all time slots were wide open, 10am, 11am & noon. The morning of the cruise I thought about switching and was told all slots were full!

  2. Note, TNT, TBS, TCM ars not what you see in the US. They seem to be showing a packaged schedule that repeats in a loop. For example I did a 13 night cruise and TNT showed Godzilla at least 7 times that I saw. Other shows repeated too on that and the other stations. This was January and first cruise after they cut the networks .

Ahhhh, this makes sense. I was on the Breeze in January and was surprised when my son was watching the same movie again...and then again the next night. Noticed it was on one of those networks and since we rarely watch live tv at home, I was thinking maybe it was just their movie channel or marathon movies or something. We really only had the tv on at night for a little while.

  3. Our tablemates from dinner said they were glad to have it, but did say that it wasn't instant. In some cases messages took hours to go through - they thought their teenage son was ignoring them lol. There were some that didn't go through at all, but again, they felt it was worth the $5 a piece.

My son and I just used the good old note system. Left a note on where we were in the cabin...and made plans to meet at certain times for other things. If any changes, leave a note.

This was earlier this year on the Breeze.

  4. Are they? I booked a $299.99 shore excursion and they rebated me back $30 (10%). Every time I buy FTTF it is 10% cheaper as well. You get double points on Carnival spending which means for $5000 I get back $100 in statement credit. (so 2%)

So if you use the Carnival Card for Carnival spending and do not carry a balance I think it is pretty decent.

Am I missing something with the math? It does not sound terrible to me.

Yes, but you can just buy the gift cards and get the 10% off upfront. That's better than a statement credit where you run the risk of paying interest if you don't pay it off in time one month.

  5. Maybe I misunderstand the OP's situation but if not, it sounds like he was was effectively negotiating price with the Carnival-contracted tour provider then wanted to claim the price guarantee rebate for the difference. I'm pretty sure that the guarantee only applies to a totally separate provider than Carnival's (which in this case it was not) and as I think someone mentioned, that provider rep the OP talked with could find themselves in violation of that contract with Carnival and be therefore dropped. I may misunderstand the details but it sounds to me like there would be no price guarantee payment warranted.

That's not the case, I found the same company the same exact tour/company offered directly through the company's website for less. I submitted the guarantee form and received onboard credit. It is actually better that it's the same tour that way they can't say that something is different or not included therefore it doesn't qualify for the guarantee.

  6. I've read where others said you can ask for both, but when I went, I was specifically told one entree otherwise extra cost.

That being said, I must agree with others, it is a LOT of food. They were actually removing each course before we could finish them. After the salad was removed before I was finished (she asked several times before I said take it), I was thinking to myself that I wanted to still eat it and didn't want to sit there hungry waiting on the rest of our food. But after it was all said and done, I totally see why! The courses kept coming, including a special presentation by the chef that wasn't on the menu. This was on the Breeze earlier this year, and everything was magnificent!

  7. I had a waterproof pouch with my phone and seapass. But I took the "SafeGo" portable vault. When we were in Jamaica there was a wooden table built into the ground that I locked it to. No one even went near it. And if they did, it's solid plastic and the strap has a metal cable inside...so not something that is easily cut. There's also a combination as well as key. Also, our driver (Martin Lamey Tours) was awesome and stayed with us. He carried our backpack, offered to carry the safego, took pictures of us and made sure no one got over on us. Got Jamaican resident prices on admissions and goodies.

Anyway, here's the link to SafeGo on Amazon

If anyone needs the driver info just let me know.

  8. Anthem in December might be pretty cold, especially for trying to enjoy a movie on a deck. I was excited about the price of an 8 day with 3 days overnight in Bermuda at a low price in January (I think under $600), but after researching I found out the weather in Bermuda for that time of year is a high in the mid 60s. Not horrible winter weather, but not the ideal visiting a tropical island weather. Also, past cruisers said leaving out of New York at that time was too cold and windy to enjoy being on the deck, so the first day or 2 is generally indoors until you're away from the NY area. A lot of people talked about the waters being rougher too, but of course others said they had experiences that weren't any rougher than other times of year.

  9. We are going on Adventure of the Seas in October. I went online today and saw that a balcony guarantee was available. We currently had an inside cabin. When I called the total price to switch was $7.00!!! I hope I did alright. I have never done a guarantee before. We always picked our own cabin. I just hope I don't get a connecting room. I read here that if that happens I may be able to call and change it if they still have cabins in the same category. Hoping that's true.

I'm guessing the price of all the cabins went down, so how much did the inside cabins go down?

  10. The info about Carnival is partially correct. They may not sell it to passengers or let them use it, but since it's a cashless system, those who pre-purchased it or purchase it on day 2 will just have day 1's drinks credited back. It's not like they are paying with cash or card, it all gets charged to seapass account. Then when the drink package kicks in on day 2, the day 1 drinks are covered.

So basically they cover themselves with all that extra verbiage.

  11. I just (this week) used an AARP Royal Caribbean $500 gift certificate to pay down my previously booked cruise. I called RCCL and they told me to send my cruise and certificate info to this email address: SharedServicesGiftCertificateRedemption@rccl.com They told me to wait 10-12 days for certificate to be applied. On 12th day I received confirmation and the $500 was applied to my existing reservation. Hope this helps.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

WOW! I figured their gift certificates were a lost cause and finally decided to just pay my balance yesterday......ugh, would've loved that extra $$$ in my pocket!

  12. Oh, heck, I'd be so annoyed that I'd roll it down to Guest Services and proceed to sleep there!

I was thinking something VERY similar. I'd take a blanket and pillow and push two of the armchairs near guest services together and sleep right there. Tell them my daughter couldn't sleep on the rollaway bed due to comfort and more importantly creating a fire hazard. I'm sure they'd argue I couldn't stay there, but I bet I would until they magically found an acceptable for 3.

  13. As a disabled Service Dog handler I find this Costo's actions funny. Those of us who are experienced handlers and advocates know that the biggest red flag aside from the dog behaving aggressively is people who start pulling out paperwork to 'prove' their dog is a Service Dog. That Costco needs to train their employees. They absolutely can not require a disabled customer give them any sort of paperwork to prove their dog is a Service Dog. First of all, anyone can buy, or even print their own BS paperwork. Second, can you imagine how disabled people who are just trying to get through their day the best they can with their medical assistive device would feel if they had to prove their device, be it a Service Dog, a wheelchair, a cane, an oxygen tank, what have you, was legitimate, by showing paperwork each time they entered a building? The laws are written the way they are so that those of us who are disabled and use the assistance of a Service Dog can get through our lives as 'normally' as possible. Are they perfect? No way? Would it be better for us if there were some nationally recognized database where we COULD get ID after proving our dogs were properly trained? In some ways, yes... It would save our highly trained animals from being attacked by the untrained pets that fakers try to pass off as Service Dogs, but of more concern to day to day life, it would put undue strain on us, having to prove our dogs are trained when all we want to do is buy our eggs and go home. It's not so difficult for me as I am a full time wheelchair user and my disability is obvious, and my Kali doesn't look like a strange breed to have as a Service Dog so I don't tend to get grilled at the door on a regular basis but when people think about it from the point of view of someone with a Diabetic Alert Dog that happens to be a Chihuahua can you imagine what their life would be like if they had to prove their legitimacy as a team every time they stepped through a new door? Laws are already in place to protect business and the general public from fakers, they need to be enforced. What those of us who are disabled DON'T need is even more hassle added to our daily lives and I am SO happy we have the ADA to protect us from being singled out the way this Costco is doing.

It would probably be helpful to have official paperwork and/or certification. Hopefully those who need it will see the benefit instead of taking it as some kind of personal attack and feeling like it makes them a victim. People need Id. to enter certain places (casino, R-movie, etc.), or to purchase certain items, operate a vehicle, etc. So carrying an additional card for your animal to enter a place normally restricted to animals doesn't seem too imposing. And more importantly, if it is truly regulated, then the imposters won't keep making a mockery of needed service animals by being a nuisance to everyone else. There ought to be strict criteria to even issue service animal certification (if there ever becomes such a thing). In addition, there needs to be either an annual re-certification, or periodic evaluations done either as a pop-up or undercover the same way cities handle food inspections. This way, any doctor who decides to be "for sale" to any yahoo that wants a service animal card, will be exposed. Unlike how it is now where people can just ask their doctor to provide the necessary emotional support animal paperwork.

have ordinances that require everyone over the age of 15 to carry some for of state issued ID and provide it on demand from an officer.

  14. I purchased FTTF today. My "reasoning" is this: I have two small children. I do not want to wait in long security lines with two children. I do not want to lug our carry-ons around the ship for any significant amount of time in addition to managing two children. I want to have the ability to get my kids in the room sooner to rest for a little bit before muster drill if they need it. I'd like to be able to get our luggage sooner as unpacking the stuff for 4 people and getting it stored takes some effort and I want to get it out of the way.

To some of you who have posted on this thread, my "reasoning" for purchasing this may seem foolish or even idiotic. But I guarantee you it is neither. At $15 per person, this may be the best spent money the whole trip. Just because you do not find value in something does not mean it is not valuable. And if you disagree, I'll let you spend some time with bored, overtired, cranky children until you rethink your stance. :');p

Very well put. Probably the best reasoning I've seen and could justify if these are toddlers.

All except the last line, because a cranky kid is not dictating my vacation plans lol. But then again, I've owned/managed a daycare so there are very few things a kid do to ruin my day.

  15. Of course that's how reasonable adults discuss things.

Children hurl insults at each other as a way to bolster their own self-importance.

It's really easy to spot who is who in threads such as these. However, it's evident some adults just can't resist arguing with children and, therefore, end up behaving like children themselves.

Which category does the person calling adults children fit in???

  16. Wow:( I understand that many do not see any value in FTTF, but to outright state that you are "making fun of" those who do is pretty sad.

I'm glad that we have options in cruising. Some I see value in and some I don't (I can't personally see the appeal in the casino), those options I don't value I don't spend my money on. I also don't laugh at, make fun or, or otherwise berate those who choose to spend differently.

Well if it made you sad, you have bigger things to worry about. I joke and "laugh at" lots of things....even with those near and dear to my heart. No love lost, just finding the humor in the situation.

And I'll continue to do so...someone calling it sad isn't going to shame me into agreeing with them.

Oh I’m quite familiar with the type of person you are. You sound like you might be one of Beach Bum64’s many usernames. Or soon to be meeting the same fate he repeatedly has for his inability to control his childish attitude. As a self-proclaimed business owner, you should have a basic understanding of free market and of services offered and their value to many who purchase them, regardless of what you think of said services. I suspect that if you do operate a business successfully, it surely isn’t because you treat your customers in the same manner you act when anonymously posting on an internet forum.

If me cracking jokes on something you love offends you then you can do what you should've done to the other guy a long time ago.....put me on ignore.

Or you can continue to stalk our comments and make idiotic comments that have nothing to do with the subject. I don't feel like going back and looking but the fact that you're bringing up how I conduct business leads me to believe you're the person who said I should tell my customers I think they're gullible. Why? Carnival didn't tell you did they? So why do you think I would do that? With advice like that, you let us all know that any rationalizations from a business standpoint you have are null and void.

SMH....these two are classic. Have nothing to say on the topic and are obviously embarrassed they were categorized as frivolous spenders so they resort to trying to shame with words like, "sad," "childish," blah blah blah
