  1. And since this isn't "eventually" that is against what we agreed to in the onboarding documents between Carnival and I.
  2. That's not good customer service, especially for the most loyal members of a company in the travel industry. When I arrive at a hotel (and even prior to arrival usually via email), I am thanked for being an "elite status" member, and told about my perks. "What type of **free snack** would you like Ms. One?" "As an elite member, you have access to the priority lounge where there is an evening reception, blah blah blah." "As an elite member, you can use the top tier internet at no charge by using this login." And even if they don't say all of that, they'll usually mention one perk as they thank me for being an elite member, then provide me with written info about the rest. Now, as someone with tenure in the travel industry, I do know that most large hotel chains make the majority of their revenue from the highest tiered members, while cruise lines over the past 10-15 years fare well with newcomers that are fueling growth. All that said, a proper welcome with an extra sentence at check-in is not something "Carnival can not possibly" do.
  3. Glad to see this info...I just saw a cruise today that departs on halloween. We don't want to participate so I'll pass. It's good to know that once the day is over though so are the costumes/festivities so I guess it would just be during sail away.
  4. Someone mentioned to us on our last cruise that this ship will have certain specialty dining at no extra charge during when it first sails. I only found info online about select complimentary options on Mardi Gras during its "inaugural season." Does anyone know where I can find information about this for Jubilee -- like how long is the "inaugural season," and what perks it entails? Thanks!

  6. Hint #1 it wasn't a service dog, the fact that they had "paperwork" as a "certified" service dog. ...interesting that someone else posted about their "certified service dog."
  7. Not only can you do that, but your 12 cans don't have to be those kind of soft drinks. I always bring Dole Pineapple/Orange juice cans. Then the rest are 1-2 kinds of other drinks. I've even seen people who have the drink package say they are taking energy drinks because the kind they like isn't offered with the cruise line. Variety, the spice of life lol.

It's true, it is very short, however depending on when you arrive at your Muster Station, you might need to wait until a set number of people have arrived (or maybe some are doing it in time intervals like every 10 minutes or something). Anyway, that was kind of annoying to me because I thought it was supposed to be some kind of quick option, but we sat there not knowing why we were waiting. Thought maybe theater would have to fill up or something like that. The crew member on stage had on her mic but was making jokes and small talk to other crew, every now and then saying we'd get started shortly. Finally, they did the life vest demonstration and advised us we were finished. So yes, fast and painless once it got started or at least once you know that it isn't going to be a long drawn out process like back in the day. The only other thing I'd say was annoying about it was, like before, those who don't follow the instructions to go to Muster make others suffer. So after the Cruise Director cut in on the ship P.A. system multiple times "reminding" people to complete theirs and that it is mandatory, we had to listen to the LOUDEST announcement in history 📢🔊 as the Cruise Director did the Muster over the loud speakers for the whole ship with non-stop talking for several minutes. It started off on needing to go to Muster, why it is important, it is mandatory, then the outright let me mention all the other safety stuff from these overhead speakers 😬
  9. The headphones have a switch on the side that can go to three different channels. Each channel has it's own D.J. (our cruise only had two), and each of those channels is assigned a color -- either red, blue, or green. So if you see a lot of blue, everyone is enjoying the "blue D.J.'s" music more at that time. It was pretty cool seeing the majority switch back and forth like they were basically battling it out. For a time, one D.J. was playing mostly songs in Spanish (Reggaeton), but being out of Texas it had a large following while the other was playing a lot of pop that appealed to the younger crowd (college-aged and under). Then they kind of both went to a variety of party music so there was more switching and friends dancing in circles but with different colors 😀
  10. I'm not a foodie but these comments have definitely made me curious about the menu at Rudi's...and also the food and atmosphere. Might have to plan for this on next Carnival cruise.
  11. 2013 called, they love this "new" idea to sneak on alcohol, lol. This is a known way passengers used to sneak beer on board...and the loop hole got shut by inspecting all beverages being brought on board. BUT, now the opening up 12 packs is hit or miss. They only wanted to see my bottle of wine this time and didn't even touch the 2 12 packs next to it. But that was out of Galveston this month. In the past, same port a few years ago with Carnival, the girl ripped open our boxes -- glad I had them in a bag so I could still carry them around. But many others were walking around in 12 packs sitting on top of their carry-on suitcases that hadn't been opened at all. So again, hit or miss. I wouldn't want to take the chance of the monetary loss of those IPAs though if they did open and confiscate it and looks like you agree based on your latest post 😉
  12. It was on Vista earlier this month. Very fun, family event on the Lido deck. A lot of teens and even younger children, and a lot of young adults in big groups, plus everyone else. Pretty cool even if you don't have the headphones on seeing people bouncing around and then a bunch just start doing Y-M-C-A, and even singing (screaming) along, lol, pretty funny. Also interesting to see when a lot of people start switching to the same D.J. (based on color of lighted headphones). It was my first time being at one even though I've known about them for years! I will say afterwards my son was a little embarrassed watching the video of himself at the party because you could clearly hear him making noise (like, "yeah, yeah, woo," on beat with the song) but I think he wasn't realizing he could possibly be heard, lol until he watched the video....the cringe was real.

Medical exemptions can be granted, but usually take A LOT of back and forth prior to the cruise...basically argue (as in make a case), along with medical documentation and why that also would include soft drinks, specialty coffee (such as no sugar/sugar substitutes, etc.). Just addressing you and your question. Not interested in people who joined to bash people's thoughts on Cheers or if they think there are no exclusions granted.
  14. It qualifies as wine (because it is), the general consensus was if there is pushback getting a supervisor involved resulted in approval.
  15. A couple of weeks ago for Grand Cayman they said anyone with a Carnival Excursion just show your Excursion ticket. No need to get the tender/water shuttle tickets. Also there was mention of higher status levels getting some kind of priority. But the thing was, after showing up at 6am to get the passes for my group (no excursion or high status), turns out they weren't needed. No one was in a hurry to get off the boat. The Cruise Director was basically begging people to go ashore. The announcements were blasting about every 20 minutes "reminding" all passengers that we were docked and they could go aboard, no need to wait on assigned tender ticket. Even said there was no wait at both mid-ship and forward. Guess we weren't the only ones who knew Grand Cayman is limited in things to do (i.e. boring, lol). I just got up early since we were with first timers and just in case they wanted to get off and go explore sooner rather than later, I didn't want them to feel stuck on the ship.

  17. If it's anything like what I had on Vista 2 weeks ago you're not missing anything. Good for my carb/calorie intake because that crust was like the texture of somewhere between very hard drywall and thin bricks. Coupled with almost all crust and no sauce. Like someone else said, I dreaded going late night and waiting in line but there was one person there leaving as I got there, so no line. But just a few pizzas waiting for consumption and the guy wouldn't make a fresh one unless I wanted something that wasn't available. That one time was the only time I went the entire cruise, and I'm definitely someone who'd go multiple times, mainly after midnight, on each cruise. My son, who went almost nightly with friends from the teen club, actually only ate it once or twice. The description he gave me was, "like eating really hard, stale, old bread." That guy loves pizza too! At just over 100 pounds he has polished off a large pizza on his own before, but didn't even bother with the plate sized pizzas onboard.
  18. The skillet cake and 12 hour french toast were both a wonderful surprise to my taste buds! If it were available somewhere near me I'd struggle not to be 400 pounds by the end of the year 😄. The omelet was fine but thumbs down to the bagel and lox.
  19. Exactly! I've been working remotely since the early 2000s also and have noticed you can always count on those new to the concept to doubt the amount of work being done. If only they knew how many of the large corporations that deliver service to them everyday have huge populations of remote workers and have for years.
  20. I posted a similar question about a month ago when I received the email saying no more bottled beverages due to safety for guests under 21 related to alcohol. But once I found a year old thread about the same thing, I realized it was misleading and had nothing to do with not allowing a bottle of wine. So I alerted the mods to remove it.
  21. This is what came to mind instantly too! After reading the other suggestions and that it's a couple's trip and no children this time, I can see them saving it for a family activity. Though there were mostly couples when we did it. We've already booked to do it again with a big group...and you're right, nothing through Carnival so I booked it through TripAdvisor (viator). And with a special kickback for using a certain card to book something with TripAdvisor from Chase, it came out about 20% lower than what I previously booked through Carnival. Also, according to TripAdvisor reviews, Royal Caribbean still offers it as an excursion.

  23. I really hope you aren't so bummed that you stopped checking the boards. I called the person I know that got the Passport for "Urgent Travel" within 2 weeks but she didn't answer, so get this...I just said, let me call the Passport Urgent Travel line and ask them if a cruise classifies...the agent not only confirmed it did (even asked about the itinerary), but she also asked where I was and I said Houston (didn't even realize your profile said Houston, just remembered Texas). Anyway, the agent was so excited there were some cancellations and said "I have 2 appointments tomorrow for Houston!" I said, great, I'll let the person know. She would not let me get off the phone. She said she thinks it was only available since it is the end of the day and there are some cancellations. She went on and on about people flying to different states for an appointment. I said, okay, I'll send her a message right now! But no, she said grab it for my friend and told me to just give her the confirmation number lol! So if you want the appointment, I can email you the Unique Identifier and PIN (all very generic -- she didn't even ask for your name, it's all based on the appointment identifier). She said you can make changes also using the reservation Unique ID.
  24. This is similar to what a friend in San Antonio told me, and a friend in Victoria. They said it basically no wait, meanwhile I remembered how far out I had to schedule one in Dallas and that was pre-Covid. So, yes, the less populated cities have a better chance.

And your comparison to your situation with your children is different from a trip that is happening within 14 days. Again, that's why they have a separate phone number. But I know where you're coming from, like I said, I was skeptical. But I literally saw someone go through the process in late 2022 because they were trying to refer someone else to do it for an upcoming trip. For the OP, I definitely think she should call for an appointment. She clearly has the trip documentation and is within the timeframe.
