  1. Happy Friday, Dailyites!

I also vote for drink #2. The instructions for both versions reminded me of Mixology classes on our BHBs - "muddle, don't murder!"

Happy Birthday @dfish Debbie! safe travels!

Follow-up to the toilet installations - after three weeks and 6 visits, I finally have all 4 in place and working! And the HVAC guys are coming back this afternoon (they promise!) for visit #2 to install the humidifier & air purifier. Almost done!!

  2. I've been away for a few days, so will have to catch up with all the Dailyites!

Love Santorini -- on our second visit we were lucky enough to see a wedding procession in Oia with the bride's entourage dancing & singing their way to the church. I'll check to see if I can find the pictures.

I don't agree with today's quote -- I think you have to look to the future to achieve your goals.

Here's a pic of DSis & I at her 8oth bday party last weekend.

Off to do my Meals on Wheels deliveries now. I'll check back later.

    I'm a newbie,  and lurker...

But these Indian dishes look lovely and delicious.   Thank you!

I'll learn protocol and how this all works as I continue lurking...

And a huge thank you for these recipe pages!   YUM!

I'm from Texas and Galveston is my home port.   I've been looking into some HAL cruises and was invited to read this thread.   Cozumel is a frequent port for me...  and mostly on Carnival.  But as a CCL Shareholder,  I'll enjoy benefits on HAL, too!

Sorry for me blurting out here,  and thank you!

    @LambKnuckles Welcome to the Daily!

  4. We stopped in Cozumel several times, but the two most memorable included private excursions to a local woman's home for cooking classes. We chose the menu from a book of options, then she took us to a food market a block away where she chose the ingredients, stopped at a tortilla factory to pick some freshly made, and then back to the house to prepare the dinner, accompanied by lots of margaritas! It was magical!

  5. From 1957. My oldest sister will turn 80 in two weeks and is throwing herself a party - why not??!! I'll be there to cheer her on. Our middle sister died at 19 from kidney failure - I still miss her.

Thanks to everyone who posted such great pictures today. I'd love to see Petra, but not sure that will happen. So this was great!

Prayers for everyone on the Cares list and cheers for all who are celebrating. I now have 3 new toilets and a new HVAC system, so I'm celebrating those!!

Thank you Jacqui, thank you Roy, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work.  And thank you everyone for being here!

Sue and DSIL left earlier this morning for their flight today to FLL. Tomorrow they embark on the Rotterdam. I stayed home for Sam - who has surprised us all with how well he now appears to be! A different dog than four weekends ago!!! Not quite as peppy as two months ago as he is having more #2 accidents in the house. Reminds me of a toddler as he barks to go out after messing. But that is how Senior dogs are and I can't be upset with him.

We finalized our Fall cruise yesterday and modified next year's cruise. Even added an additional cruise! The new cruise is actually less than a month away on MSC Seashore from Port Canaveral. Our first time sailing from there and first time to sail MSC from the USA. Unbelievable cheap so we booked YC to be pampered. Using "Park N Cruise" to leave the car? Any thoughts?

For the Fall we decided to not sail to Norway but only sail on the Rotterdam Transatlantic but with a twist. We are then staying aboard for the Southern Caribbean/partial Panama Canal cruise. So 27 days aboard the Rotterdam. It has been 52 years since I sailed through the Panama Canal.

While we were at it, we have changed plans for next year. Why not?  We were going to NZ/OZ to visit my friend and then sailing home from Japan. Too many logistics to overcome so we have now booked the Nieuw Statendam on the "Canary Crossing" for April 2025. First time for an EB Transatlantic. Our PCC likes to book the sailing as two 14-day cruises as opposed to one 28-day. Slightly more ($145.00) but additional OBC and 4 dinners instead of two. He probably likes it he gets credit for two cruises as well.

Stay Safe, and prayers for those in need.

    - Jack

Thanks for the good news about Sam, Jack. He's so lucky to have you! Feel free to join our roll call for the Rotterdam's TA in October. It would be fun to meet up!

Happy Hump Day to all and thanks for the daily and fleet report.  I am a tad late to the party as I decided I would sleep in this morning - all the way to 0730!!!  LOL!!  I love the music scores in movies (except the Tubular Bells in the Exorcist - which to this day - creeps me out!!), haven't seen a fan dance but would love to, and, oh, I love rainbows.  Here are a couple I have seen on BHBs and one from Lanzhou, China:

Yogi was something else 😂, the meal sounds delicious but only with the wine - no way, on the drink (caramel 🤢), never been to the port, and OMG, I graduated from HS in '73 and now that year is one of the Days in "History"?!?!?!?!

I am out of my funk and I want to thank everyone for the encouraging words and suggestions (I won't individually name you because I know I will forget someone!!).  Part of the reason I am out of my funk is I just decided to not let this development get me down.  But the biggest reason is:

                                                                   ScreenShot2024-04-03at09_31_17.png.5c234ba92b36e67069214a7737f5c22c.png

AND I have over 100 sea days!!!  I am so excited and I just don't know why this was so important but I don't care!!  In a way, it means I have spent a lot of money the last 2 years but I have enjoyed cruising so much and it has opened up a whole new way of exploring the world that I never thought I ever, ever wanted to do.  AND I have met some of the neatest people on the planet - either in real life or virtually!!  I am on cloud nine!!  Can you tell???  LOL!!

I am thinking of all who are going through trials and tribulations.  Cheers to those celebrating and everyone have the best day you can today!

Two words -- free laundry!! Congratulations!

I did it-jumped on the bandwagon. I cancelled the FLL to Barcelona cruise April of 2025 and just rebooked for this one. It will be fun to meet everyone and see Jacqui again. Party time!

    Food for thought......!

Toilet update - one new one installed, then the plumber was called away for a family emergency. To return at noon tomorrow. I have the new one, but unfortunately he  had dismantled the one in DS's bathroom before he got the call. DS is NOT pleased! But he can use mine.... Such drama!

  9. @ger_77 Gerry - prayers raised for Gord and for Ollie. It's so good that you were nearby to support her.

This has been a busy week -- did the weekly Meals on Wheels run yesterday morning, then last night there was a seder at church (lamb kabobs - yum!), which I had to leave early because the choir was due to warm up for the Maundy Thursday service. We're also singing tonight for the Good Friday service. We're practicing tomorrow morning with a brass quintet to prepare for the two Easter morning services. Because it's been so cold lately, I'm glad the church stopped the tradition of a sunrise service on Easter. It was always beautiful, but my feet were frozen when it was over!!

We have dinner reservations for later on Sunday -- after all that, I'm not cooking!

Supposedly, two of the new toilets will be installed today. I'm ready, but the crew hasn't arrived yet. Grumble! The remaining two are supposed to be installed next Wednesday. I'll be glad when this is done, so I can move on to the HVAC replacement. And my handyman advised me that I really need to have my driveway repaved, not just sealed.  It's always something!

Despite the cold, my DS attended Opening Day for the Orioles in Baltimore. With last season's success and new ownership, the fans are expecting great things this season. There was a moment of silence for the FSK bridge victims during the opening ceremonies -- the town is in mourning.

Capote's quote was spot on. I've been watching the FX series "Capote vs. the Swans" and if that story is accurate, his third act was very unpleasant, mostly his own fault.

Cheers for all that are heading to, or on, a BHB, and also those celebrating special events. Prayers raised for all on the care list -- it seems to be getting longer again.

DD took little DGD Coco to the doctor.  It's not chicken pox; it's scarlet fever.  She was recently treated for strep throat and is still testing positive for it, so now it's into scarlet fever.  They put her on a different antibiotic.

I haven't heard of anyone having scarlet fever for years.  It's upsetting.

I had scarlet fever as a child. At the time, I was the only case in the entire state. We never did figure out how I got it!

@ger_77 the blankets are beautiful! I'm sure the children that get them feel wrapped up in love!

  11. A very windy day today, so I moved everything that could go flying up to the front porch. I'm tired of chasing things across the yard!

I'm a bit annoyed with my plumber. Finally made the decision to replace all the toilets in the house and had it all set up to happen today. When the phone rang at 8am, I thought he was going to tell me he was on his way. Nope! He cancelled because neither of his helpers was available. Now I have to call HIm early next week to reschedule. Grumble. I think my biggest gripe is that I spent the last few days cleaning all 4 bathrooms so they'd have a clean environment to work in - lol!

    Yes, "I Am" an Aries!

Best wishes to all that are celebrating, and prayers raised for everyone in need.
