  1. Rabbit, Rabbit, white rabbit! Happy April, and try not to be anyone's fool today! I've always thought April was a good month -- my bday is the 5th & Dsis is on the 21st. A busy day today - first a funeral lunch to serve, then getting ready for Palm Sunday. The rain has already started and should be followed by high winds. What fun! But it should warm up after the storms move through. Stay safe, well, and happy, everyone!
  2. Thanks Leanne and all the addicts - see you Saturday!
  3. Well, I missed it, but no toots? It was such a nice afternoon, I couldn't pass up working in the garden. I'll probably regret that tomorrow - lol!
  4. Thanks for all the wonderful photos and memes today. Prayers for all who need them and cheers for all who are celebrating. Debbie @dfish I'm glad that the surgery went well, and @kazu Jacqui congratulations on getting clearance to drive again. I know, despite the weather, you're happy to regain a bit of independence! I like today's dish & will try it when DS gets home this weekend. We had two marvelous dogs over the years, but the current feline residents have made it clear that no puppies are allowed! The garage door opener has been replaced - so much quieter than the old one! No word from the surgeon yet...grumble, but I decided to give the cardiologist two weeks before I nagged him again. My outdoor thermometer read 81F this afternoon - delightful! It supposed to be rainy & cool tomorrow, though. Ah well!
  5. Good morning, friends! It was a bit chilly this morning (27F), so the fuzzy freeloaders (aka Thumper & Lola) volunteered to warm my chair up for me. So considerate!
  6. Congratulations @Denise T from a fellow Dailyite! You've got a good start on your reporting, and I look forward to hearing about your preparations and, of course, the trip itself! Good job!
  7. Update on the garage fix -- it took a while for the repairman to even get the door open to release the car, so the actual fix will happen tomorrow afternoon. But the car, aka "Trixie the Traveler" is free to roll, although she'll have to suffer the indignity of sitting outside tonight - lol!
  8. The repairman was able to get the door open so the car is free! The actual fix will happen tomorrow.Yay! Thanks to everyone for a good sailaway -- with good toots!!
  9. Checking in -- but may miss it if the garage repairman arrives...
  10. Today is a cold (38F) and blustery day. I had to retrieve the recycling bin from the neighbor's yard when I got home from church. I'm SO ready for Spring to arrive tomorrow! So here's a very first world problem - my car has been taken prisoner by my garage! Thursday I went to take my car out of the garage and the door opener wouldn't work. Checked to make sure the circuit breaker wasn't thrown - nope! Tried to pull the red cord and pull the handle for the emergency door release - nope. DS tried it, too - nope. Would the remote work? Nope - it clicks but nothing happens. We finally determined that after 37 years, the unit is done. Luckily, DS works from home so I could use his car. This afternoon the repairman is scheduled to come and replace the unit - Freedom!
  11. Thanks, Roy! It's okay - DH's surgery was to rebuild his ankle after it was eaten away by cancer, so very different. Mine should be much less severe, and the recovery should be relatively quick. Still counting on that cruise!!
  12. A funny note -- a few years ago, I was reading a Ruth Ware murder mystery -- the one with a wedding on an island -- and everyone in the wedding party was drinking Whispering Angel rose. I figured the sales must have shot (no pun intended) up after that!
  13. Hi friends! Sorry I've missed a few days -- have to go back and catch up. Lots of doctor visits happening. I've had my full share of awkward days, particularly the one at work when I hit "reply all" instead of just "reply." Oh yes, that caused some ruffled feathers... We took an excursion in Nicaragua that arrived back to the ship two hours late because of road construction. We had an armed escort both ways, and on the return trip the guards made the road crew stop so we could pass. They were afraid we'd be too exposed. We were glad to get back on the ship! My November ER visit continues to be the "gift that keeps on giving." The original cause was AFib, but the echocardiogram they did at the same time revealed a leaky mitral valve - officially "mitral regurgitation." It's taken four months, but I finally got a decision from the cardiologist on how to proceed. Minimally invasive surgery to repair the valve is recommended, but now I have to speak with a surgeon. I have no idea what their scheduling is like, and am really afraid that I'll have to cancel the July Voyage of the Vikings. I have insurance, but I REALLY want to do the cruise. Fingers crossed & prayers raised that it will all work out! Wishing everyone a happy & relaxing weekend!
