Hi teddy,
I really don't remember. Trenitalia has an English part of its website that has the train fares and schedules. Very useful for planning your day.
And I'm sorry but I can't remember what we paid from the port to the train station and back.

If I were you, I would hire a car. If you buy a bunch of stuff, where will you put it while you continue shopping? I think a car is essential unless you mostly plan to window shop.

There is also the possibility that security got a tip that someone looking like you or your DH or having a bag similar to yours, was going to smuggle something off the ship. You just never know
And if it's difficult for you to open the bag, ask security to help. If you ask pleasantly, most likely they will be happy to help you.

Yup. Fortunately we have very lightweight luggage (about 3 pounds) so we can take about 15 pounds of stuff.

We used Peru for less for a private 10 day trip to Peru maybe 7 years ago and they were wonderful then. I would look at current reviews of various agencies before making a decision though.

We have flown Lufthansa a lot, both overseas and locally Most of the time they do weigh your carry on.

I'm sorry this happened to you. If it happens again I would politely explain that I have health issues and bending down is difficult and could they please provide a table to place the bag on so I could open it.
Unfortunately, better ways of handling an issue usually occur to me too late to do any good!!

I would suggest you rent a car to visit interesting places and put your luggage in the trunk.

My iPhone and charger. I use the kindle app to read books and the geocaching app to cache. We buy a data plan to download emails and find caching hints if necessary.

I like to go to the farthest point first.
We took a cab to the train station in Livorno and bought round trip tickets to Lucca and took the train to Lucca, changing in Pisa Centrale.
We spent a couple of hours in Lucca and then took the train back to Pisa and got off one stop before Pisa Centrale and walked to Pisa. We had bought tickets to climb the tower online before we left home. We spent a couple of hours in Pisa before we walked back to the Pisa Centrale station and caught a train back to Livorno. Then we caught a cab back to the port.
A fun and not too costly day!

We got off the ship in FLL, picked up our rental car and did some sightseeing, and then returned to the ship in the afternoon. Lots of things to see and do in FLL if you want.

I've not had my hair cut onboard but I have in port. The stylist did a good job and it was cheaper than it would have been onboard. We were wandering around the city and saw the beauty shop sign so we stopped in. Didn't take more than a half hour of my time.

I wore orthaheel flip flops all over Europe without a problem. Mine have a non slip bottom. The only time I wear closed shoes is if it's rainy or very cold or if we go on a steep hike.

I had a torn meniscus a couple of years ago. Physical therapy really helped but took a couple of months.

We generally skip the MDR when we have a port heavy itinerary. We get back from our day ashore, have dinner at the Lido, maybe take in some entertainment, and then we relax.

We spent 5 nights after a cruise ending in venice in an apartment in manarola. We hiked to all the other villages and took the train and ferry to portofino for one day and Porto nuovo another day. We had a great time.

We put stuff that I hand wash on hangers and hang them in our room. So only our room steward knows - lol!

I always find the trip home worse, regardless of direction.

I can understand why the cruise line would not provide airfare back, but I certainly think they should have provided free medical care for seasick passengers that needed it.

The way I look at it, all the comments have helped multiple other folks that have read this thread and had similar issues.

The person may not even have been sick. When my allergies really act up my noise and eyes run constantly - I have been known to use an entire box of Kleenex in one day - and the runny nose makes me cough. If I were to tell someone nearby that it is an allergy, they would never believe me.
That happened on the second leg of a long flight at the end of a trip last year. About a half hour after we boarded the plane, my nose started gushing, and I was sneezing and coughing like there was no tomorrow. As soon as I got off the plane it was like the faucet turned off and the runny nose, the sneezing and the coughing all gradually stopped and I felt fine. So you never can really tell if a person has allergies or is ill.

Vacation Protection
in Carnival Cruise Lines

We have a yearly policy that covers our medical and evacuation costs back to the USA.
Our credit card insurance covers things like canceling a cruise, lost luggage, etc. We had a family cruise for 14 planned. Our granddaughter had a ruptured appendix a week before the cruise so she and her parents were unable to go. Our credit card insurance (United Explorer) covered the total cost of their missed cruise.
So check to see if you have any coverage on any of your cards before deciding what kind of additional coverage you might need.
