There are a number of yearly medical insurance policies that are very affordable. We get ours from Geo Blue.

We had a 9pm flight out. We rented a car, drove to an animal park (can't remember the name) which was kinda fun, then we went to the sawgrass mall and strolled around and finally we drove to the airport. We had a fun day!

Usually we can do a private tour with one or two other couples for less per person than the ship charges for a bus load of 50+ people.
We like the flexibility of doing what we want to do rather than having to do what is preplanned.
We have done private tours or DIY'd at 100+ ports and have never even come close to missing the ship!

We were in Ocho Rios several years ago. We hired a local cabbie to take us to Dunns River Falls and a tropical park. Afterward, he dropped us in town and we wandered around before walking back to the ship. We never felt uncomfortable or unsafe - occasionally annoyed at the never ending vendors - but never uncomfortable or unsafe.

DH and I often walk the halls of the ship when it's too cold to walk outside. We enjoy looking at the decorated room doors as we stroll by. I only have a problem when stuff sticks out into the hall and we have to squeeze by. Otherwise, decorate away!

If I were in the OP's position I would have a long talk with customer no service.
No satisfaction - I would ask to speak to a supervisor and take it up the food chain.
No success - I would file a claim with my credit card company.
Good luck.

Most ships have both European and US outlets. If you wish to use both you will need an adaptor. Most electronics can be plugged into 110 to 220 volt outlets so you do not need a converter, but read the specifications for your product carefully.
Another option is to bring a multiple outlet plug that lets you plug in several items at one time. For example, we have a USB charger that has 3 slots so we can charge our phones at the same time. We have a triple outlet that will charge our camera and other batteries at the same time.

I have seen doors decorated for the holidays or for a birthday or an anniversary.
I have seen families put something on their door to make it easier for their kids to recognize.
We always put a note on our door asking that anyone interested in geocaching give us a call and leave a message.

No weight conversion as in bringing home gifts.
Major weight concerns as in eating too many yummy macadamias!!

You have many options for a land tour in Alaska besides booking with your cruise line. There are private tour operators that you can find on TripAdvisor or other travel sites, or if you like planning, you can rent a car for a custom trip.
We got a good guide book, rented an SUV for the 5 of us and had a blast!

In the USA many brands of baby formula come in powdered form which is way easier and less bulky to pack and can be mixed with bottled water. Perhaps powdered formula is available in the U.K. as well?
And in a pinch, bottles can be heated the old fashioned way - in a bathroom sink full of hot water!

Yikes. So many opinions. The best and most consistent advice is to check it out with the cruise line. If it's ok with them, I would get their approval in writing - just in case.

We have never done a ship's tour. We do private tours with one or two other couples or DIY it and catch a cab or public transportation.
Primary reason is we do not want to travel with 50 or so other people. We might want to stop along the way, stay longer at one particular place, extend the tour if we really are enjoying it or cut it short if the weather turns bad, etc.
we are geocaching nuts and if we find a cache along the way or hear about an interesting hike, we want to feel comfortable changing the itinerary without affecting others.
We always make sure we are back in port at least an hour before the all aboard time. Doesn't matter if it is a docked or tender port. That's just us - do what's comfortable for you.

You could always rent a car with 2 car seats for the day. I'm sure there are things of interest in Fort Lauderdale for young kids.

We got together with 14 other people on our ship and negotiated a trip with one of the vendors waiting at the pier. It was quite inexpensive though I've forgotten the exact price. We told them how long a trip we wanted and mentioned several sites we wanted to visit. They were quite accommodating.

If you enjoy doing research and know what you want to see at the various ports, you might consider renting a car.

I bring my support cat - well, a small stuffed replica that is in many of our photos!

I suggest each cruiser share what they're comfortable sharing, and either tell the organizer they are not comfortable sharing other things or just leave those questions blank

We wring the bathing suit or trunks out, roll them in a towel to get out even more moisture, and put them on a hanger. Then we hang the hanger on a hook in the room, on a door knob or anywhere there is good air circulation. We do this with undies as well and everything is usually dry in a few hours.

Bring Grandma and Grandpa along to share the good times and the childcare!
The zoo in puerto Vallarta is fun though baby is really too young to enjoy it but he will love it in a few years!

We keep all our photos in digital or shutterfly albums that we create. I wouldn't know what to do with a stack of actual prints.
If there are a lot of pics and you can get them on a memory stick I might consider it though I much prefer to have sightseeing pics from the cruise so I can remember the places we've visited.

$2250, though quite a chunk is only a fraction of what our granddaughter paid for 2 days in a regular land hospital. Just be grateful you will be reimbursed.

Need help with special mother's Christmas gift (Carnival Glory ship ornament)

I saw other carnival ship ornaments on eBay. If you check every few days you might get lucky and find one for the Glory. The offerings constantly change. Good luck.
