Hi Robyn! Tell Shar hello and I am looking forward to your live report! You girls have a great time and have a drink for me in the CL.
My niece and her wife just got off Indy this morning
Paul and I will be on NCL Escape:eek: in two weeks. My first NCL cruise!
-
I hereby pledge to occupy a chair and drink the beer. Every day. Something tells me I'll have plenty of company behaving similarly. If not, I'll drink their beer too. :D
2 more people here that will be doing the same!:D
-
Do you think the people that have been clamoring for specialty beers and microbrews are going to happily go drink Budweiser or Heineken? I don't. I think they will be really mad about this change.
I'm not a big beer drinker so this change has no major impact to my enjoyment, but I support anyone who is against the change because it is a material change in what they had bargained for.
Totally agree! One of the reasons we booked Escape was because of the craft brews and having the UBP thrown in for free. Dh makes his own beer and any city we travel to we have to find a couple microbreweries to try out.
So, the answer is NO! We would not be satisfied with Bud, Heineken, etc only in the UBP as this is not the way it was presented when we booked.
We sail in 2 weeks, so let's hope they wait until after that if they are going to change it.

So, there is no DJ for dancing somewhere every night? If not, then I am going to be very disappointed!
Thanks for taking time out of your cruise to give us a report.

Looking forward to your opinion of the beers on board. Dh is a home brewer and a lover of microbreweries. so much so, that we went to Portland, Oregon in July for a brewfest and to try out all their microbreweries there, since it is the microbrewery capitol of the U.S.
We will be on Escape in a few weeks and the district brewhouse was definitely a deciding factor in booking this ship.
Hope the beer selection is awesome and thanks for taking time out of your vacation to do this thread.:)

Yes, dh and I are new to NCL and are looking forward to a new ship and new experiences on Escape! We got a great price and the UBP thrown in for free, so I just couldn't pass it up.:)
Being Diamond+ on RCCL, we get a free happy hour every day from 5:00 to 8:30, plus other perks that kept me sailing with them. Now, I am excited to try NCL and all they have to offer.
I love to research the ships we sail on here at CC and read reviews and look at pics. So, it is making me crazy that I have had to wait so long for either of those for Escape. Not long now though!

I have been searching for the last hour and can't find which dock Escape will use in St. Thomas. Anybody know for sure?
I am booking an independent snorkel excursion that leaves from Havensight, so we could walk if Escape docks there.
Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.

Do you think an experienced cruiser that can afford to take 10 or 15 cruise would work for the chump change call centers pay???
.
I would love to work for RCCL now that I am retired! I don't live in Miami or where any of their call centers are so I guess not.:( Would be fun as a part time job.
-
But i am going on NCL for the first time and am very anxious, BUT we have the drink package thrown in....being D+ this still scares me. Really i am nervous. I am on a cruise and it will all be o.k.!! Right?
-
I've noticed more and more. We are often the only ones sitting at the pool bar without it. Between bringing on wine, going to the DL in the evenings and the time off ship, we don't find it worth it.
we do the same
-
Honestly, you don't know what you will get and if you get your game you should be so happy!! Being a Gator fan:D and Bucs obsessed, we have not gotten many games.
I remember that we were in the Bahamas and watching the Gator vs Bulldogs game at Senor Frogs cause we couldn't get it on the ship. Oh, how much alcohol they could have sold if they had that game on the t.v.!! They didn't know any better.
Just be prepared to NOT see your game.

Congrats! The balconies are huge and Alaska is absolutely amazing!
I am jealous!
-
Great review! I feel like I am taking a tour of the ship with you. Freedom class ships are my favorite and thanks for making us feel like we are right there with you on your cruise.

Doing my first NCL cruise in November, so I enjoy reading all these posts. I am a little nervous about being a first timer after taking so many RCCL cruises, but I am also so excited to try something totally different on Escape!

To all,
It is not often I apologize. But, this time I was wrong by underestimating the power of CC message boards.
In particular the no food to be taken back to rooms or outside serving areas thread(s).
I hope anyone who I pissed off, accepts my apology for marginalizing this group.
You were right, I was wrong. Until next time.
Dismissed, nothing to see hear. Move along
Thank you for posting this.
I have seen RCL change their stand on new policies after much complaining and said as much here on the NCL board.
I am looking forward to my first cruise on NCL in November and especially dh bringing me back breakfast from the buffet to eat on my balcony each morning. :)
-
I am happy NCL listened to some of the concerns of their customers. Thanks.
Agreed....Thanks for listening! Seen the masses revolt over at RCL after a policy change and management listened, so it just takes everyone speaking up! -
What's the time frame
Nov. 28, 2015
-
I understand that newer ships command higher prices but let's face it, 5k more for a family of 5 to sail an additional 2 days on a new ship vs a 3 year old ship is insane.
They can take 2 cruises on NCL (14 days) and still pocket over $2k.
Which would you choose?
RC newer ships have high prices, but I booked NCL Escape which will only be a few weeks old and got an outstanding price! 7 nights, balcony for $749!!!
I could not pass that up and the drink package for dh and I both is included.
It will be my first NCL cruise and maybe not my last.
-
Congrats on the upgrade, Bill!
Consider it RCI's "payback" for all the wonderful Live Reports you do! :D
I agree! Looking forward to the live report for this cruise!:)
-
Pete- thanks for all the info. I hope to get on board Enchantment before she leaves PC in 2016.
-
That's right. Come September, this will be me.
Thinking I look like Channing, when everyone else is seeing Jonah.
Hey Darth! You are too funny! Booze cruise sounds fun.
-
This change is ridiculous. On cruises, I like to go early to the gym, workout, then eat breakfast in the buffet. I usually bring DW coffee, yogurt and either fruit or a roll. She is not a big breakfast person.
I guess this is no more.
My dh does the same for me.
I am sailing NCL for the first time in Nov. and this really makes me think twice about it. I did send an email to my CC and voice my displeasure. If enough people speak up, they could change the policy. I have seen it happen with RCCL.
-
Absolutely loved your review! Thanks for sharing your cruise with us.
Your last post said you might sail Oasis in 2016...... It would be great to sail with you and your family as we will be on Oasis for her first sailing out of Port Canaveral in Nov. 2016. :)

G- Just booked our first NCL cruise two weeks ago! Looking forward to sailing on their new ship, Escape, in November.

Glad you are happy too, but are you not allowed to tell us what was given in the resolution?
