  1. No! Dancing is exercise. It supplements the gym workouts. I can just imagine you recoiling at that last statement. 😀 I like the Zoom idea though. Now who should I call? 🤣
  2. I assume that reference is to NHS, and other health authority guidelines, which are 14 units a week, equating to six Cunard sized glasses of wine! 🤣
  3. That's a shame. Our tastes are varied, generally as long as it's French, but maybe Italian and Spanish as well. From the most recent list all of these would be ok for us by the glass: Sparkling: Cunard Cellar Reserve Prosecco White: Chardonnay/Viognier, Jean d'Alibert Pinot Grigio, Cecilia Beretta Rosé: Grenache/Syrah, Jean d'Alibert Château la Tour de l'Évêque Red: Grenache/Syrah/Mourvèdre, Jean d'Alibert Cabernet Sauvignon, Saissac Pinot Noir, Leduc I don't think we've actually tasted Tour de l'Évêque, but we're looking forward to it. It seems to be quite popular (without Cunard on the label) here. However they are all fine for lunch, aperitifs or refreshment through the evening. With our evening meal we will be buying bottles in a range from $60 to $100, taking our Coravin so they can be kept for another night, maybe not the next night, and having half a bottle between us with the main part of our dinner. We will save 20% on each of those due to the package.
  4. At the risk of repeating myself WE are not on holiday. Life for us is a holiday. Two weeks on QM2 is an experience that we need a holiday from when we get home. 😀
  5. I think this is the latest version dated March this year. https://www.cunard.com/content/dam/cunard/my-voyage/pdfs/Wine-List-QE-QV-QA-Mar24_V2.pdf
  6. As I wrote at #4 for two of us in 14 days we will save over 20%. Our spend will be capped at about $2,500 rather than $3,200. That's based on average six drinks between lunchtime and bedtime per day. Perhaps that is way more than we should, but it doesn't feel excessive. It does include bottled water, mixers and teas/coffees/hot chocolate as well.
  7. Why would you not be? You would be paying for it. The only issue I can see is that there have been some reports in parts of Britannia Restaurant of shortages of sommeliers. Best to make sure that they will re-visit you to take further orders. Depending on how much wine you want, and your tastes, there are some quite reasonably priced wines by the bottle on the list, particularly the Cunard own labels and some Eastern European wines. You can order a bottle and have part of it held over to the next night. That way the worst thing that can happen is that you have to pour it yourself if the sommelier doesn't show up.
  8. First the bad news. According to all the recent menus, measures of spirits have been reduced from 29.57ml (1oz) to 25ml, with doubles at 50ml. But I think you've said your booking is Britannia, which means that you must be talking about the package you pay for rather than the US Grills promotion package. The latter has a $12 per drink limit but the paid for version limit is $13.50. Gratuities are included in the price of the package. According to the terms and conditions, double measures can be requested for spirits and there appear to be single malts that fall within the limit. I've no idea how fine they are. We make a saving of at least 20% by taking the package, but you are best to do some calculations to ensure that you do at least break even against paying as you consume. For items over $13.50 you pay full price, plus gratuities, less 20% Edit: That last bit only applies to bottles of wine up to $150. So your 20% is limited.
  9. That would be quite difficult. It's one of the stupidest ideas I've ever come across.
  10. That's all very well for 'mint teas' or other infusions. Most Brits would be a bit miffed if their tea didn't come out of a pot. A navvy on a building site might not have a lot of choice but in civilised surroundings tea must be served from a pot whether that is porcelain or metal.

    Queen Anne

Perhaps covered in Heinz Beans. 😀
  12. We'd need the same music piped through our headphones. We mainly dance in hold whether we're on a ballroom floor or a disco. Not into this weird idea of dancing alone.
  13. We don't have any intention to be in QG, so the most we might see tableside is sole or desserts. As an aside I think the looking up for sprinklers is all theatre to show that they are taking that into account. These people know exactly where every sensor and sprinkler is located, they don't move them from one night to another. But the main issue on this thread further justifies my reasons for bringing a second black tux suit along with the navy and ivory ones. If one gets contaminated with any food odours it can be laundered at very reasonable prices on board, and I'll not need it back the next night anyway! 😀
  14. That's impressive. What age is Stephen Payne?
  15. At home my wife doesn't drink anything else, and often fills it twice from the pot. Edit: In a china mug of course!

We named this "Heinz 57". It's on a half landing on QM2 staircase B, at 57 steps down from deck 12. We think it might depict a tin of Heinz Beans in tomato sauce. As I've said before, I'm not really into art. Pictures of cats are good. I'd settle for some ships, on a ship. And there are a few of them.
  17. Hopefully I'm not upsetting HH. I can see a CC post on beaches in Calvi simply by typing "Calvi cruise critic" into Google. But if you want @ballroom-cruisers to know that you are asking them a question on these forums you will need to put that magic @ in front of their forum name!
  18. This was the cream that we had and saw. It was nice but not clotted. It appeared today on a YT video of sixth day of a Westbound Crossing on 9th June. Same stuff on those treacle tarts as served in the little dishes for scones. As an aside. I do jam followed by cream for practical reasons. I'll only want a coating of jam of a few millimetres thick to start with, but I then want as many inches of cream piled on top of that as I possibly can!
  19. Only issue we had with the app was returning from Rockaway. Our French sims allow massive amounts of data and unlimited calling in the US and lots of other countries. But the problem was I couldn't get a signal at the terminal to validate the tickets. The guy at the pier believed me, we went and sat on the ferry, I picked up signal there and returned for him to scan the ticket (at least I think he scanned it, it was over two years ago). That shouldn't be an issue around Red Hook or Manhattan.
  20. I'm really not an arty person. But the artistic director and lots of other folk have been extremely clear that a sequence that didn't even register with me in the opening ceremony was completely misunderstood by certain groups. In some media cases because they wanted to provoke controversy. The sequence related to some artistic work about Greek Gods, which I believe is in a museum in Lyon. Greek Gods. The Olympics. Even my very limited recollection of the classics suggests there might be a connection there. As a result they've spent the last few weeks pouring over their plans for the closing ceremony just in case there might be something in there that they didn't realise might upset some group on one side or another. Remember that France is fiercely protective of their constitutional status as a secular society. The creative arts don't normally consider who they might upset when dreaming up content. One only has to think back to Charlie Hebdo to see the reactions from extremists. Oh, I wouldn't want to put anyone off but the area between Pigalle and Sacre Coeur has always had a reputation for pickpockets. Not suggesting you avoid it, as it's probably our favourite religious building in Paris, just be careful. Probably not as bad as the Rome Metro!
  21. I think it's at least 36 years since I was in a cinema. Are you honestly telling me they still show films in 35mm? I would hope they send them via a secure link to the theatres in 4K or 8K with a date limit on the files.
  22. At last a really serious question, although you all know I would have preferred a cat! 😀 My usual source, Google Photos, suggests this may be a Hungarian Pumi. Failing that, perhaps a Cavapoo.
  23. Did you have shorts or a tee shirt with you but not spare Kindle cables? 🤣🤣🤣 Having asked that my wife uses Kobo, and we have Kobo apps on both of our phones. In practice she only gets time to read on the flights between Nice and Heathrow. Edit: assessing the Chart Room's cocktails is a much more productive pastime!
  24. TBH we don't really go out for gourmet here. We can eat superb food and drink great wines at home. Going out is more for dressing up and people watching. In a way; entertainment. And like yesterday, the venue. We don't have a balcony view of the bay of Cannes and the Îles de Lérins.
  25. We don't currently have that one but might buy it soon. We've a similar one plus a shopper of different fabric. Of course this is my wife's favourite brand in leather bags. At one point the company behind them owned Tula as well. But they dropped that line and don't really have much available in evening bags. She's had to look at other brands for them. I'm sure a Tesco bag for life would serve the purpose. Sir Brian Souter of Stagecoach Group was well known for attending board meetings with his papers in a plastic carrier bag!
