Ok not to hijack but I am now confused...I am also traveling with a minor....if I do not want him to have "free reign" by using my credit card..do I have the ability to say add $50.00 or $100.00 to his card for his use?  Also, if that is possible, can it be done online or over the phone....aka a method of which I do not have to stand in a front desk line etc...

    TIA

I just did my check in and because she's a minor it asked me if I wanted her to be able to charge and if so what limit. I didn't see the option of a "per day" limit-just in total. Guessing thats an option maybe once on board?

If I were to test positive and it's false can I take another test and if it's negative, can I cruise?  Asking for a friend . . .

A co worker had this happen and she went. She did go to her family DR and got his ok and did multiple negative test (PCR and rapid) to make sure she truly was negative. Her family DR said false positives are rare and she was the first he'd seen and most likely the pharmacy cross contaminated her test with someone else.

  3. I talked to a few on the Sunrise in November who said they  were on 8 month contracts this time and go home for 2. Interestingly a couple said they were hoping NOT to go home, as they feared they would be home longer than the 2 months right now. They said Carnival is still trying to rotate all of the employees as some haven't been back yet.

Good to know 😄 Took a closer look at the room they're offering and it's right over a night club 😕 have an email into a PVP hoping they can help us find a better location.  If so we are upgrading! 😎 (Getting us to move from an awesome 4J... gotta make it worth it 😉 )

In my link there was a “suggested” room to start but when I actually clicked into it it allowed me to choose the room.

Just checked again, we are 15 days out, and they are offering an even better deal!  Instead of an extra $360 to upgrade from a coveted 4J to a balcony, its now $180... Gonna have to call and see if we get to keep the OBC from the original booking promotion if we upgrade 😎

Yes it does. I got the email to upgrade from an interior to balcony for $150 in a couple weeks. We snapped it up! All the on board credit stayed the same. FYI tho-all of our purchases like cheers and on board credit we’d prepurchased disappeared from the reservation after I accepted the offer but reappeared a few hours later.

  6. Did you have any luck?-I'm in the same "boat" lol. Booked an interior as planned on cruising with a friend and now she's out and the hubby is in so would prefer a balcony. I called ages ago and it was a ridiculous  amount they wanted.

  7. I've seen the same lately. On top of it, I'm helping a large group book and they range from first time cruisers, to 1 time before cruisers, to "a few" time cruisers and every single one of them has better rates than me right now. Puts a bad taste in my mouth like "we know we got ya anyways" so I think I'll start shopping around. There are a few lines out there I've been wanting to try but Carnival has given me such good VIFP rates that it kept me here.

  8. Turks and Caicos Weekly news has an article with a headline of "Cruise Industry to restart in December to March ‘High Season’ -Premier assures"-not sure if it was ok to post the link but its easy to find. Sounds promising but maybe not soon enough for my Dec 1 stop that still hasn't been rescheduled.

I just sailed Horizon for the first time.  At 50% it was really nice.  But I could sense what it would be like at 100%.  Nope.

Yes-Horizon was my least favorite Carnival ship due to the number of people-chaos at all times. Give me an older smaller version any day-either way I'm eating guys burgers, tacos, main dining room, and ice cream. Not that I'd pass up a good deal on any ship:)

Idk what you are expecting, but you said you dont want to pay the full amount. You expect a discount because your child isnt vaccinated?

You can move it forward or cancel as you said. No guarantee things will change except more kids required to be vaccinated. Somehow being allowed to cancel is poor customer service? You expect compensation because of your child? Hard to tell what you want.

If your child cant be vaccinated (below 12 soon will be allowed) the $150 is waived, so you are wrong about this. If a child is of a age to be vaccinated chances of a exemption are about zero. You are confused about this.

I read it as he is hoping to hold off on paying in full until there is certainty to what Jan/Feb cruises look like for children. Our friends traveling with us in January have the same issue and I don't blame them. Their hope is the kids can be vaccinated by then so don't want to cancel, yet don't want to pay in full in case they do want to cancel later if the children can't be vaccinated.

I just transferred my September cruise to October 2022.  They transferred everything including my OBC.

Only waited 5 minutes on hold!

    Hugs

Did they keep your rates? Was your OBC for a cancelled cruise or just part of your offer? I am thinking of canceling my November cruise. I'd love to just move it however the rates I booked at were so good I'd be paying much more now on top of losing $500 OBC. I plan on calling once they release November restrictions (assuming they are the same as they currently are). We just got back from an Alaska cruise-it was WONDERFUL however the hubby didn't love dealing with the facemask requirements in the cooler weather and has no desire to in the heat:(

  12. I recently discovered your blog and love it. I am heading on the Miracle in August and have a couple nice to know questions:

    1) How are you proving your vaccinated? In MN they are just giving you a card-will that card be sufficient.

    2) Will any non Carnival tour operators still be at the end of the docks looking for tourists to take out or is it a good idea to book everything ahead?

    General Alaska ?:

    1) I'm up in the air on whether to do whale watching or not. I've done it before in Seattle in the shoulder season-saw maybe 4/5 whales from far away-just tails or backs sticking out of the water. While it was cool I wouldn't necessarily pay to do it again. Would Alaska be different? Thinking of maybe skipping and saving that for a Cabos cruise or something where I hear they're amazing.

    2) Crab legs-(I know they are frozen as they aren't in season but this is always a vacation splurge for us). Any recommendations? We were really wishing the unlimited one in Ketchikan was open again.

Sorry for so many ? in one post!

  13. I know historically all these things just worked like a credit to your account and would pay for casino charges as well. On a board someone said this is no longer the case for on board credit. Has anyone else seen this as I can't find it. I usually prepay everything and load my casino "allowance" on my account with gift cards. When my account hits 0 my casino fun is over:)

VIFP is just marketing stuff.  I don't feel I am owed more than others.  I book at the prevailing rates and look for the best overall deal for me.  You are not being penalized.  Your friends booked at a different date.  Prices change daily.  Maybe they booked an Early Saver where you can choose your own room but has different deposit criteria.  There are numerous different fares for any given cabin it depends which terms and conditions you are comfortable with.  I'm not comfortable with Early Saver terms, so I pay more and don't use it.  But I am not being penalized.  That's absurd

They did not-I helped them book-we had 2 laptops side by side and called a PVP.  I don't feel I'm owed more than others either but the same would have been nice.  Especially since it meant I then could have booked the room next to them.  They're good friends but I wasn't paying $150 more to be next to them.

Your logic escapes me, how does it give you a bad taste about Carnival?

It gives me a bad taste because I would think I should at least get the same rate or less being a gold cruiser vs someone who has taken 1 cruise before.  Why do I get penalized because I've taken more cruises with Carnival?

  16. I would say no they are not all the same at all.  I actually found the staff nicer and the food quality better (even if menus the same) on the Victory than the Horizon (cold food, longer waits, buffet was normally disgusting at night). I will never sail on the Sensation again (even though its probably completely different now).  The Victory was definitely showing some age but still clean, covered the basics, and def enjoyed my time!  Have fun!

  17. I book guarantee almost always because the worst room is usually "good enough" for me.  We've gotten good and bad.  Now in regards to you being platinum.  I am convinced Carnival is going to give first time cruisers and first level the best deals and best cabin assignments.  They know they have you hooked.  I'm gold-recently I booked a guarantee because it was much cheaper-friends who are 2nd time carnival cruisers decided to join us.  Their rates were lower than mine and could PICK their stateroom.  It wasn't a casino rate or anything special.  We called carnival and they confirmed this was the case.  If I wanted to pick the same stateroom, it would have cost me $150 more.  This put a bad taste in my mouth.  Give me no motivation to stay loyal to carnival.
