  1. Frankly, their prep time is not my problem. They need to figure this out. How in the world can breakfast close at 9am???? Once again, I am canceling my cruise if this is true. I cannot take this one more minute.

I believe that you need to cancel your cruise at this juncture. You have posted many times about this and without satisfaction for yourself as to what to expect when you board in terms of meals.

Especially seeing you will not contact X directly about this issue, 1.800.647.2251, it appears that what you have been told by posters is not sufficient to 'feed' you, I do not understand the continued multiple rants and multiple postings?

Bon Voyage on whichever sailing or line you may subsequently select, if in fact you are serious about this...

  2. We used a well known (in the NE) TA for our first cruise. The agent was not up to par to me, even being a novice. No real help or input. Only a discount booklet and that was it.

Now I use a big box TA with perks at least and I find them very helpful in contacting X while I Am on the phone and etc...

Even after changing sailings and the 123Go package was discontinued, the TA was able to get for me on the new sailing. Of course I Am happy with them. Then again, I have yet something catastrophic happen to put them to the test... ;-)

Go where you are comfortable. Perks or not..

    Bon voyage...

  3. Yes, purchase before you board, of course that depends on when you arrive via plane and embarkation times.

We purchase before embarkation, usually we land by 9a from PHL, by the time we get our luggage, then head to the wine store and at the port by 11.30a then on ship by 12.15p.

The anxiety of packing it in luggage is not worth it, for us.

    Good luck and bon voyage...

  4. Watch your email for new contest from Celebrity called, "The Grass is Greener with Celebrity Cruises Sweepstakes"

I hope it isn't run by the X web team...I tried to enter and page errored out:

    No data received

    ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

But if/when it finally works it would be nice to win!

    supposed link:

    http://celebrity.com/sweeps

    http://celebritycruises.com/sweeps

these are both from the email and facebook...neither one works as of now.

I had no challenges with entering the contest... at all.

  5. I have been a victim of these things, it happens. I was booked on final sailing of Century, Dubai to Rome, it changed to Dubai to Singapore about 9 months out. Now THAT'S a tough change. Fortunately as a USA booker, I was able to cancel. As many people in these forums say over and over to international travelers, find a US based TA and work thru them, but then the risk of currency fluctuation takes over.

I also had a booking that I had to cancel due to a charter that took it over and none of the new options they gave me worked.

When booking I am as keenly aware itinerary changes happen inasmuch as I am aware that the price I agree to pay they can't change on me, due to contract language.

It's important that readers of these forums learn that itineraries are NEVER SET IN STONE, so NEVER BOOK A CRUISE expecting to sail the itinerary you booked, only expect to be picked up where agreed and delivered where agreed. Everything in the middle is subject to change at any time - and yes when it happens it sucks, but it should also not come as any surprise to anyone that it part of the cruise industry, and all cruise lines make changes after bookings at times.

And Yes, I'd be upset to sit in Miami for 5 days for sure, but I'd also know that that in order for me to have X guarantee not to increase my fare over time and stick to the contracted rate, I also agreed to let them modify the itinerary at anytime they choose, also part of my contract rate.

My favorite story of "lesson learned" I've read on CC is the couple who planned a destination wedding to a port that tenders. Bride and groom and wedding party sailed, the family and guests flew to the island, where the wedding was to be had mid day, and all back to ship to finish the sailing, while family vacation on land.

Seas were rough, so they couldn't tender and skipped the port. No wedding.

If a particular port is of critical importance to a traveler, best fly there to be safe.

    A++ Thanks Curt...

  6. Upon doing a 'quick' search of this forum, there are NO recent menus available.

Why not wait until you board to be pleasantly surprized at the offerings and if the pricing is either covered in your beverage package or if you will need to purchase outright?

Then, upon your return, you can enlighten us by posting the 'current' drink menu(s) and your thoughts on the experience...

Most of all, enjoy your sailing...

    Bon Voyage

Just a few links for you to peruse until your cruise which stops there.

btw - I would recommend checking these and other possible links on google or bing or whichever search engine you use as your cruise gets closer if it is more than six months out.

    bon voyage

  8. So, now we know who to blame! LOL

This is always a routine answer. 'You asked for it and we listened.'

Well Celebrity, we are asking to reduce the price of the Specialty Restaurants back to $35 instead of $45 or $50. Waiting for an answer. LOL

... Or, if you wait until you board, it may be cheaper than advance purchase.

  9. If Celebrity would let the folks in the UK and EU cancel WITHOUT PENALTY, the issue would probably go away. As it is, Celebrity wants to keep their deposits, even though the reason for cancellation is something Celebrity did unilaterally after they made the deposit. That's just unreasonable.

Maybe the laws there are very very different than in the U.S., if that is where you are posting from, which not only forces X's refund policy but that of other cruise and public transport companies????

Just a thought, just thinking out loud, just wondering if the comment is well researched, etc....

  10. It's been clear for some time from your posts that you have fallen out of love with Celebrity. Yes, it's time to move on.

    Phil

Not to be unfair, but I agree, based on the posts from the last week, it is time to move on to a new line and new forum, IF in fact he is that unhappy with X.

There are a few others who would benefit from a move as well, solely based on the posts I have read.

Thank you eoh... bon voyage m..

  11. I believe we in the U.S. can cancel without any penalty if it is before final payment. With the possible exception of those who booked with a TA that charges a fee for any deviation/change/cancellation from the original booking.

The freebies, another issue, they come with the booking one made, change the booking and run the risk of losing the freebies. It is like purchasing a specific model auto with pricing incentives, once you get to the dealership and decide that you do not want that model, the incentives do not follow the buyer, but the auto, the buyer gives up the incentives for a 'better/different' model they desire.

We all do it in way or another from time to time, or at least I have.

  12. What a ridiculous thread... Why would celebrity have to come on here and comment either way...

So some don't like the changes and some do... That's life! And it states with any booking you sign up yo that all cruise ports are subject to change without needing to give notice... So nor do they have to give a reason...

If you don't like the changes call & change/cancel to another cruise... It's in you're hands!

I do feel some people want a celebrity official to show up just to have a good old moan about life...

Why wait on others... Their contact details are on the website so why don't you call them and ask whatever questions you have... [emoji57]

Finally... What on earth is "splainin" [emoji23]

    Like A++++:rolleyes:

  13. i'm the same way...i heard about this, started contacting my tour providers to reschedule, and moved on. I've been working with the guide we're touring with in cartagena to plan an evening excursion, and i'm actually very excited about it. We go to the caribbean a lot, and this gives us an opportunity to see things we couldn't in an regular port call.

This isn't the first time i've had an itinerary drastically changed after i booked, and i'm sure it won't be the last. The funny thing is, the other time i had an itinerary majorly changed for something besides weather was back in 2006 when princess decided to drop grand cayman from its galveston sailings. People were very upset, but as i remember it the ship sailed full and it was one of our best cruises. I'm hoping this change will end up with a similar outcome!

    a+++++

  14. I would venture to guess that the majority of passengers on the affected 2016 cruises aren't even aware yet that their itineraries have changed!

We have 3 cruises booked and all 3 are affected.

My TA (who is VERY good and passes on all information as she receives it) has only notified us about one of the 2017 cruises.

That tells me that Celebrity hasn't informed her yet.

Yes, I believe you are correct about the awareness of the other passengers, yet I wonder how many will be so upset as those who are here?

I do not think that many will be upset, they are looking forward to the sailing. I know that I would not be too upset, then again I have yet to sail Celebrity. I have been on cruises where itineraries have changed from ports I really wanted to visit, but once notified of the change, I was fine with it. Maybe I Am too easy to please???

Thank goodness for choices in the cruise world, it is easy to get what you want, either for a little bit more or a little bit less than what you were dissatisfied with...

  15. Perhaps we should start another poll to actually see if this is indeed the case . We're in Europe (which is really hard to type as we're British and say 'we're travelling to Europe') and we've never been asked about any overnight stops in the Caribbean! Additionally, judging from the current results of the poll (4 persons), neither have most other posters on CC, irrespective of where they are from ;). So I'd really like to know where it's stated that 'it's because of all of these Europeans that the itineraries have been changed'?

Did not want to post to this thread....

  16. Just had a phone call from Celebrity in regards to one of my emails (I sent one to every address provided).

A very nice young woman (whose job I don't envy) asked if I had any questions. I said no, I just wanted to register how unhappy I was with the changes and hoped that maybe Celebrity would listen to their clients and re-institute our original itineraries. She was non-committal on that possibility but did say that 60% of their customers had requested these overnights.

I asked her if she was familiar with CC . She said she was. (She also said they read and monitor these boards. )

I then said that the comments on here certainly didn't support those findings.

I knew she had no power to change anything so just asked her to pass on my disappointment and the suggestion that maybe they put these changes off until 2017 or 2018.

    We'll see.................

I think it was a bit unfair to use CC as the sole barometer of "who is or is not happy" with the changes of all booked passengers. It would be fair to use CC as a small % of passengers on any given sailing who are concerned about the changes.

It is fair to say, that I understand the uproar, justified or not.

Bon Voyage for all who will sail and bon voyage for all who will change cruise lines...

  17. Not sure what you mean by "...agents not quite as friendly and helpful as those for Royal." as in not giving you the OBC for the change in itinerary or not suggesting which cruise you could change to or ????

Please clarify further, as you wrote the situation, it appears they provided an option for you which you did not care for or was this in passing? Is it beyond the final payment, if not and you are booked from the U.S., you can cancel and be fully refunded.

Not sure if you are or have followed other threads here concerning changes in many of the Caribbean itineraries, but those may be a good place to start/end your question on this topic, possibly.

When is your cruise? How much time is cut off from the remaining ports you are to visit? Is there, in fact, another sailing which will cover the port missed and provide more time in the ports you want to be in??

    Thanks...

  18. You misunderstood their question. They are arriving and want to check in on day one, but are concerned that a delay might happen.

My advice would always be to arrive the day before the cruise and avoid these potential problems, but for some reason they don't want to do that.

Call Celebrity and find out what would happen.

My profound apologies for the mis-read. Arrive the day before then you know you are there, unless there is some aversion to the departure city. If it is the cost of a hotel stay, possibly taking the last flight of the day to arrive as late as possible before the next day...

Have a good trip anyway you go for it.... I would still check what your insurance policy states in a situation like this.

  19. I Am sure CC will provide the correct answer as far as their requirements goes, so I would not discount that too quickly.

Since we do not know where it is you are to embark and I Am sure your husband has his reasons for not wanting to arrive on day 1, how about you taking the tact and finding out if you can check in 'on time' with your husband checking in at a later time for the cruise?

This way, you are on the ship and not worried, if your husband misses the boat or for some reason cannot check in when he wants, there is the next port for him to meet you in...

Your main question may be, if we get delayed en-route to check-in on day 2, should we just go to the next port since we chose not to check in on day 1? In which case I suggest calling CC and letting them know. I hope your travel insurance will cover this, possibly not as you are not checking in when required, day 1. Just check the policy to be sure.

    bon voyage...

  20. It is a bit far off, and you do not indicate exactly what the differences in the changes are, I can only surmize that it is important to you that the times remain the same?

I hope the changes do not mess up any plans you may have made at these ports, but in the time being you may want to give Celebrity a call to find out what is going on and let everyone else know.

    Thanks...
