  1. Have had the bad luck to be next to, or across from door slammers several times. People can make fun of us for mentioning it all they want but the slamming is very loud and disturbing if it happens late at night or early in the morning. I was next to a 6 am coffee runner last cruise. So great to be blasted out of a sound sleep at that hour. If you're guilty and physically able to close it softly shame on you.
  2. Not sure of numbers but Summit is very full this sailing. Crowded everywhere. This is a colder weather cruise so pool decks haven't been bad but inside had been very crowded everywhere.
  3. I don't disagree but I think the issue is that they are just unprepared to handle the numbers of sick passengers now that capacity has risen so quickly and to such high percentages. Add to that the fact that Boston doesn't have anywhere near the # of sailings as, say, Lauderdale and so doesn't have as much experience handling these things, and it is a recipe for disaster so to speak.
  4. Don't feel bad. For our 40th anniversary in a suite we got a few balloons on our ceiling, a card, and a towel animal shaped as a heart. That's it. We did get a cake in Luminae.
  5. I understand the irony comment. Honestly if we end up missing several ports I’d rather they just cancel our cruise. I’ve waited years for this special cruise and don’t want to end up spending half of it at sea.
  6. Wondering if anyone onboard has any info on potential port changes on the upcoming cruise due to the hurricane? It’s not looking good for the Canada ports.
  7. Anyone hear of port cancellations or cruise impact of the hurricane heading north towards Canada? Don’t have a good feeling about my cruise leaving out of Boston tomorrow 😔
  8. Good idea. But I advise making sure it works that way. It doesn’t on all ships I’ve found. Some require you to play out the credits and can only cash out any wins.
  9. Those of us who never got any of these offers despite tons of cruises and gambling on Celebrity truly feel sorry for you. A free cruise but you're concerned about paying for airfare. I only wish I had that issue. 😥😢
  10. You may not be the only one, but my late July cruise out of Vancouver had the highest percentage capacity of any Celebrity sailing since restart. I was stressed about potentially being quarantined for 10 days but in the end all went well and we had a fabulous time.
  11. Agree about suite capacity. We’ve sailed in suites multiple times since restart and even as late as last December the suites were at least 85% full, and usually 100% full, even when the entire ship was only at 40%.
  12. On some ships they were using inside cabins unfortunately. But you're right I doubt a deck 10 cabin would be changed for that reason. Maybe you just got lucky! Maybe there was an issue with that cabin. Maybe someone wanted to book a balcony cabin with an inside cabin across the hall for their kids.
  13. We had a similar situation going from Apex to Reflection. First issue was trying to find out where to go. No one told us ahead of time, and we asked several people (Celebrity and local) outside the port door and they were clueless. Finally found one guy who knew what was what who directed us to the correct bus. Bus drove us over to Reflection where we had to stand around outside waiting and waiting before we could even get inside the building. Not sure why in the heck they couldn't at least let us go inside where it was cooler. Maybe that's a Customs thing and not a Celebrity thing. We also had a suite which may have helped, although I think everyone on the bus was first in line regardless of status. Nice that they offered free transport but you would think by now they would have figured out how to handle it better.
  14. To the OP's original question - it is not likely you can secure an upgrade onboard, and the higher the cabin category the lower the odds. Many ships are sailing full or close to it recently. This makes the move up onboard possibility much, much different than it was maybe 6-9 months ago. First choice will go to people who made MoveUp offers. Until a week or so ago, testing pre-cruise probably caused a certain number of last minute cancels which may have freed up cabins. Since for most cruises testing has ended that number will fall. There may still be some last minute cancels for people who got sick at the last minute but certainly a lesser number. So is it likely? Probably not, especially the higher level the cabin. But does it hurt to ask? Depends on how disappointed you will be if you get turned down.
  15. It is likely that they moved you to use your original room as a quarantine cabin.
  16. In this case the Celebrity Summit, but when I googled it to try to find some info the very same tour seems to be offered on multiple cruise lines so any feedback would help.
  17. Wondering if anyone has done this tour? Looking for feedback. thanks
  18. I am not suggesting this was the case with the OP as I certainly have no way of knowing that. I think sometimes the reason people get bad customer service when they have an issue is because of how they handle the problem. I have seen people (onboard ships, and in stores, restaurants, etc.) start trying to resolve the issue by being loud, yelling, rude, and angry from the get go. I always have the philosophy that I will give people the benefit of the doubt and believe they will do what's right. Most often (admittedly not always) it happens. Again, not suggesting the OP didn't handle it properly. Just commenting in general that most often people (and businesses) will try to do what's right if you give them a chance.
  19. Very interesting. I feel for the crew having to wear masks all the time. That said, I personally would prefer that they continue to wear them when serving (or preparing) food. Good for keeping away all types of viruses - not just Covid.
  20. Does anyone know the rhyme or reason as to who gets these offers? I’ve been on 66 Celebrity cruises, gamble a modest amount to be Onyx level and nothing. No email offers. Nada. I admit I’m jealous and not a little bit frustrated as I have 9 upcoming cruises in the next year and would love to change one of them to use an offer like this. Thoughts?
  21. I can speak to Apex, which of course is about the same. We had no crowding issues in the lounge or Luminae. On the Retreat deck, on a 7 day cruise not once were we able to secure a lounge chair in the shade. Very frustrating. Unfortunately chair hogs come at all cabin levels. Since we had a nice balcony it was not the end of the world, but they really need more shade spots up there. There were a lot of lounges and chairs, but too many with the sun beating down on you. After watching a friend's husband die a long and pain-filled death from melanoma I am not into sunning myself like a fried egg.
  22. yes, each person who is Elite Plus gets 2 bags of laundry. So if you both are, then you get 4.
  23. We are also Elite Plus (until after next cruise when we turn Zenith woo hoo!!) , and we send out a bag our first night (we always spend some time in port ahead of time), as well as usually every other day or two after that. We tend to send out more often on warm weather cruises where you sweat too much to wear the same shirt or shorts over again.
