  1. Not a sushi person at all, but the firecracker shrimp sounds like it's right up my alley.
  2. Never been to Ocean Blue. We have 4 specialties, but I have no problem repeating Cagney's & LeBistro.
  3. We HAVE to go to Cagney's and LeBistro. The others are up in the air! We will be on the Joy, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.
  4. Is this a newish dessert in Cagney's? I love both butterscotch and caramel so it's definitely something I'd try but I don't know if I could skip creme brulee. And being diabetic, I certainly can't have both!
  5. The duck was amazing the first time I had it but not as much since then so I hesitate to order it again. Though it's been 5 years since I've had it.
  6. There's also basque cheesecake. I like it, but it's not what I want when I want cheesecake.
  7. I always posted numerous times on the roll call as well. The reminder delivered to the cabin was just an extra if they wanted it. I alway printed axtras and shared with people we met on board, sometimes on the shuttle to the ship from the hotel!
  8. No breach of privacy because they gave their cabin # knowing that was the reason they were giving it. Nothing misleading about that. That list wasn't used for anything else.
  9. When I organized them, my family and I would deliver reminders to the cabins of those who committed to coming and gave their cabin #. I would ask the coordinator on the ship to deliver the ones to the Haven. It was a great way for us to learn the way around the ship very quickly. But we always had a great turn out because people had a reminder of place and time in their hand!
  10. I'm on the Joy in September. No one wants to do a M&G. In all fairness, it's a 9 night cruise and we have one "sea day" (really a river day) near the end of the cruise. I know the day after we embark, we don't port in Boston until 1, so that morning would be doable but no one's interested. We've always had a good time at them. We've had the captain show up a number of times, and they offered bridge tours to those who attended! Then he had refreshments on the bridge for us and posed with us for pics.
  11. Good to know! I'll be on the Joy in September. It's very port intensive so I don't know how often I will get to the OL.
  12. I'm gonna need someone to smuggle some out for me! On my very first cruise (on X), they had this little tea cart. In the mornings, it had amazing pastries and I always got an almost croissant! In the afternoons, they had cookies. I could walk by the cookies all day long, but I'm like a moth to the flame when it comes to an almost croissant (or a piece of a kringle!).
  13. Has anyone seen the goat cheese stuffed portobello mushroom lately? I remember having it in one of the smaller MDRs a few years ago on embarkation day. It was delish! My son is a huge fan of the mussels in LeBistro, but he won't be with us on this cruise. We've done 17 with him, this will be a first without him (he's finishing his last year of college).
  14. There are lots of different tartares these days - lots of vegetarian options - but I tend to stick to the seafood and beef ones!
  15. I am a huge fan of tuna tartare, so that tuna stack looks awesome. I've never had lobster thermador - it's intriguing. But since we will spend a week in Maine after our cruise, that may be where I try that dish. I'm pretty picky on cheesecake and while I'm sure that was tasty, I don't think I can eat something that's supposed to be cheesecake-esk but has more of a pudding or custard texture. Heck, I won't even eat it at the Cheesecake Factory because they serve it too warm. Cheesecake should be very cold (I prefer mine just short of frozen) and very firm. And if it isn't baked, it isn't cheesecake.
  16. It's also friends &/or relatives of officers. We boarded once with a lady who was friends with the ship's dr. It was her first cruise.
  17. I did it in the oven and it was amaze-balls! So juicy it was ridiculous! I won't hesitate to do it again. 1.5 hours to cook a 14# turkey.
