  1. I'm a scenery hound, so I don't care how cold it is. I was out on the balcony on the glacier days (the coldest days of an AK cruise) with a deck blanket taking pics! I will say, if you're cruising RT out of NYC, it won't be as scenic as ours will be as we will sail from NYC to Quebec, so up the river! And we got a port balcony, so as to get as much land viewing as possible.
  2. They may not need/want great, but I LOVE and appreciate great so point me in the right direction! I'm a bit of a foodie. I've had good, really good and not so good lobster rolls, so great would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Yes, this is very common. IMO, it's also helpful to have the extra bathrooms! However, I could also see if you had several young children, you may not want them to be in their own cabin (especially if they are escape artists!) - even if the rooms are connecting. And some parents don't wish to split up to have one of each of them in each cabin. I can definitely see pluses and minuses to both.
  4. I used 2 on 6/16 and our cruise was just over 90 days at that point. We did book a balcony.
  5. Your port choice for diembarkation may not be set up for that. A lot of things have changed since covid, and while this was available a few years ago in many places, that may not be a thing anymore. Not only would you have to be processed through immigration, you would have to be cashed out on the ship. And there may be more things along those lines.
  6. I know the Joy has family insides that can sleep up to 6.
  7. Good to know those are stll around! I used to have one for every NCL ship we'd been on but I've been going through stuff and got rid of them.
  8. Like I said, it's been a few since we've sailed (4 years to be exact). Lots has changed.
  9. There are maps all over the ship.
  10. I never saw baked Alaska on NCL - even in Alaska. Saw it many times on X.
  11. Hotel Director (4 stripes on the shoulders or cuffs for formal uniforms, only answers to the captain).
  12. I have metastatic breast cancer. I literally don't care what y'all do, collect or wear. Y'all do you. I'm gonna do me while I can.
  13. You lost me using the wrong "their" there. We've never gotten tier pins but would have liked to. Honestly, I don't care what others wear or collect. I don't have time for that. Ask me why - it might change your perspective a bit.
  14. I was told/read that MDR menus can be found on the app under your booking but I haven't found them. I must be looking in the wrong place. This is our first sailing snce the app, so I'm sure there's a lot I'm unfamiliar with/haven't figured out yet. Also, I know we used to be able to get creme brulee in LeBistro but I didn't see it on their menu. Is is available on board anywhere? One of my favorite memories is from about 10 years ago. We were in the MDR (group of 8), and the HD found out I loved creme brulee - I have no idea how unless the HD he relieved told him. They weren't being served in the MDR but here came 8 of them delivered to our table on top of what others had ordered for dessert. A guy at a nearby table started pointing and was gettng ready to say something. One guy in our party would rather smoke than eat dessert so we passed his creme brulee to the guy at the other table. Hubby is going to want to know if crepes are still made and served at the buffet in the evenings.
  15. A wine we like. Not a fan of the sparkling wine. We've also given them as part of an extra thank you to crew. I can't have alcohol anymore due to medication so that's what we'd do now.
  16. Just say no if you are prone to sea sickness. I stck to midship. Sometimes what they consider an upgrade isn't an upgrade to us.
  17. That's really too bad. All NCL sailings are not indicative of this. And the first issue was most likely not due to anything NCL did or didn't do, but the others are.
  18. We never got tier pins for any of our tiers - we're platinum now, and ave been for a while. But I'm missing some fo the ship pins because they stopped doing them for a bit.
  19. The wine we always give away - or used to until we found out we could trade it in for something we would actually drink. We already get a bag of free laundry. This will probably be the first NCL cruise we go on where we aren't receiving treats every single day. Over the years, we've known officers on board and they showered us with love, but I think most have either left sailing or NCL, some are in NCL HQ, etc.
  20. Thank you. This is what I thought, but hubby thought otherwise.
  21. We haven't sailed in a few years and the newest NCL ship we've been on is the Breakaway. My husband is saying that club suites are the same as suites as far as the "extras" go, but I don't think so. Besides extra room, what do you get when you book a club suite other than the cabin itself? And yes, I searched but went through 2 pages of stuff that didn't pertain.
  22. This really helps clear up some things for me for our possible upcoming cruise. And it's really too bad. We wanted to spend three extra days in the disembarkation port but it sounds like that's really an option.
  23. Contact Victor and he or one of his people may be able to handle this for you. He a very nice man and really likes to take care o his customers! If not, there's a lady named Anita Tennyson (and she's on FB) who gives stand up paddle board lessons and she might be able to help you out as well.
