  1. Best way to do it on camp outs for sure.
  2. Personally, we are happy to not have to pack suits and ties for DH and cocktail dresses for me.
  3. I'm not sure the point of your post. We did the 26 glacier tour that was about 5 hours long. It included College Fjord and Harriman Fjord.
  4. We did one of those, too, but they still weren't as impressive as Hubbard for me.
  5. IMO, the only thing better about Glacier Bay is the wildlife. Otherwise, I'll take Hubbard. The biggest problem with Hubbard is that it sometimes gets fogged in and you can't see it! We were on a cruise that did both GB and Hubbard and you couldn't see Hubbard for anything! But you could hear the calving. Hubbard is so massive and it makes my jaw drop.
  6. When we've been on other lines in the Caribbean, they would decorate the day after Thanksgiving while the ship was in port and most passengers were ashore. It was always fun to come back to a fully decorated ship.
  7. Some people cannot tolerate the amount of alcohol in the commercial sanitizers. I worked with a woman who was made to use some at work even though she had an exemption from her doctor, and it put her in the hospital. HR fired the boss because he had been told by her and HR and he forced her anyway. I don't have the issue as bad as my co-worker did, but I can only take so much of it myself. I realize this doesn't cover most, but there are times it covers some.
  8. IME, X's desserts have less sugar than our American desserts typically do, so many don't care as much for them. They're more French in that way. I don't know specifically about the "dry cake".
  9. The ones at LaMadeleine are a study, almost shortbread-ish crust. Maybe it's the moisture of a fridge?
  10. The problem with stashing the tarts is that the crust breaks down (at least that's my experience with the ones from LaMadeleine's tarts). At that point, I would just eat the inside part if it were me.
  11. Domestic flights would be a lot easier to make than international.
  12. It's been 15 years since my last X cruise but we are looking to book one for next fall. Back then, I stumbled across the pastry cart (mornings, and cookies in the afternoons) with the delightful almond croissants. I've had many since but I'm convinced that everything tastes better on a ship!
  13. Some of us need to eat withing a certain window of time for medical reasons.
  14. Since I haven't been on X in a number of years, I am not familiar with all these venues. What is Cafe al Bacio? Also, I am curious where I would hopefully find the divine almond croissants that were such a treat on my previous X cruises?
  15. I love the decaf Constant Comment, too!
  16. Possibly. But the OP has been on CC since 2017 and has over 2000 posts. If currently on a ship and experiencing seasickness, it would be easier and faster to go to guest services and ask vs posting here and waiting for answers. I used to take Bonine starting the day before our cruises and then every evening while getting ready for dinner because they speed the ship up at night to make good time when needed. That's usually when I 'had issues. I still take it with me, but haven't have to take it in a number of years. But there was one cruise that was really bad (crew was putting out barf bags, which is never a good sign) and I even took another one. I still felt the movement but didn't get sick.
  17. Yes. Usually, the crew starts decorating before the Thanksgiving cruises. At least that's been my experience.
  18. This is why I thought it was important to know when the cruise was booked and when the email was received.
  19. The monetary part of it has always been negligible for wine. The paperwork is a pain. And depending on where the cruise ends, it can be a big deal.
  20. I did see that. I also know some people use "just" many times when they didn't mean that exactly. But if this was just received for a November cruise, we won't booking. The whole reason for us even booking specifically with X was to spend time with our friends who live in another part of the country.
  21. Just know that depending on where your cruise ends, there are many times extra taxes &/or fees to be paid over certain alcohol limits. They are usually based on per person of legal age.
  22. First, I am not doubting this at all. But I have a question: when did you book and when did you receive this email? That's going to make a difference.
  23. Three people, so luggage for 3 people. I've always taken a power strip but I'm reading on here that it would most likely be taken. And all of that is pretty small, though my son's backpack will be full of electronics. I take a lot of photos - with cameras (though I'm usually down to one depending on the travel) and my phone. My camera battery chargers are not USB chargers. I download photos to my laptop daily. On a cruise, I'm not sure my husband will take his laptop anymore.
  24. Watch Sunday Morning: The rise of pickleball - Full show on CBS
  25. Yeah, I was suprised to find out we had to pay extra to get the deposit back if we canceled before final payment. When did that start on X?
