  1. Rubbish - take a ships tour and you’re fine. It would be silly to travel to PNG and not get off the ship We we’re there last month on another luxury line and visited Alotau, Wewak and Madang and enjoyed our visits to each of them
  2. Hardly a unique situation How were OC or NC ever to know the status of those who opted in to being on the email list? The problem is no one seems to memorialise or delete old email addresses these days- so companies don’t get rejects and don’t know to delete people. I’m sure the same happened with physical mailings in the post as well The emails from Crystal contain an unsubscribe option - all they have to do is click on that option and that will be the end of it In acquiring the Crystal Cruises Brand, A&K Travel Group Ltd. also purchased the Crystal Cruises database. If you prefer not to receive further communications from Crystal Cruises, please “unsubscribe here”.
  3. Oh well it seems we are all agreed on one thing at least The inaugural cruises are not booked out I guess we now move to debating just how full they are or will be on sailing…. My guess is that some/many/most/all of the berths will be occupied - but by just what type of guest will remain a mystery Time will no doubt tell us all
  4. Source? Did Crystal ever claim publicly that or was it from someone who was “told” that was the case?(without anything to back it up) I wonder too just how many “comped” guests and media there will be on those inaugurals to add to the numbers? I’m guessing we’ll never know as not all receiving comps declare it
  5. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the community Knowledge is power….
  6. Possibly “sold out” in the category they were interested in - but that certainly doesn’t mean sold out in full I wonder how bookings are actually going? I would have thought the inaugurals would have been very popular and potentially sell out completely but that doesn’t appear to have happened at this point
  7. So given you’ve done the research when did he sail on Crystal? Was there a report on just what he was impressed with?
  8. I received a survey about the ports on a future cruise and also one about the ports on a just completed cruise I think it’s great they seek customers opinions on such things interestingly I was also invited to participate in a live interview seeking my views on a number of aspects of our recently completed fist Silversea cruise It was conducted via Google Meet by someone in Europe and lasted around 45 minutes and covered all aspects of our cruise experience from booking through onboard and disembarkation I have been impressed by how many opportunities Silversea have given me to provide feedback in addition to the onboard customer satisfaction survey
  9. I found the selection offered in Kaiseki at lunch time much more then available in the La Terraza buffet - and the ambience of that area is much nicer than the buffet
  10. Pretty important difference - probably the most important one I think
  11. We’re ahead of the game the with 2 at 12 days now - although it’s $50 a head now Now it if was a Nobu restaurant we’re talking about then that would be a bargain I would jump at Compared to what another line charges for specialty restaurants $50 is quite reasonable and of course that second and subsequent chargeable visit is entirely optional
  12. I think you’ll find there’s a clause (or more then one) in their general T&Cs that gives them supreme rights to determine almost anything/everything and that guests are required to comply and have their contract cancelled, without penalty for Crystal They can be enforced - the question us will they be? Much like most rules and regulations
  13. Keep up….it’s all go today…lots of answers to many common questions The info is a direct quote from crystals Q&As from their website - it’s a fact
  14. Let us know when one is brave enough to be the pioneer…no one’s done so yet have they?
  15. It’s in the “to be advised” basket - still being worked Fingers crossed for a Nobu return but I’ve seen several options for pan Asian restaurants on other luxury lines that would work too
  16. Good location for a decent large and well lit Jigsaw table. They can turn into a really social area when they’re out in the open and not tucked away
  17. Given formal nights are optional you could wear a sports jacket as Evening Resort would be acceptable I dare say my Regent and Silversea t shirts would be deemed unacceptable 😂😂😂😉
  18. Always a hot topic and lots of smoke raised From the FAQ - it looks very similar to the previous one - the question is just what are the “designated” smoking areas going to be WHAT IS THE SMOKING POLICY? At Crystal, we recognize that some of our guests smoke and others do not. While most areas of the ship are non-smoking, there will be designated smoking areas throughout. Please note that pipe and cigar smoking is only allowed in the Connoisseurs Club and all suites/guest rooms are non-smoking, including on the verandas.
  19. Yes they’re gone From the FAQ - there will NOT be casinos onboard WHAT’S GOING TO TAKE THE PLACE OF THE CASINO? These spaces are being turned into lounge areas where guests can read, enjoy a game of bridge with friends or just relax with fellow passengers. Our exceptional teams in Marketing, Hotel Operations and Destination Management are building unique experiences that will take place in these lounges.
  20. Dress code released - this from the FAQ on the website Always a controversial topic and no doubt it will continue to be - interestingly jeans are allowed - with a jacket required for men - but not for women? 🫢🤷 Pleased to see formal is optional WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE ON BOARD? At Crystal, we want guests to feel confident and relaxed throughout their stay, so we have put together the following guide to the different dress codes in place on board. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us by calling 1.888.616.7956 or +1.786.464.4420. Day Casual A less formal look allowing guests to feel comfortable during the day, Day Casual attire may be worn everywhere, including our restaurants, until 18:00. Suggestions for a Day Casual look: Women Sundresses Elegant shorts Jeans T-shirts or blouses Linen clothing Swimsuits with cover-ups (when not poolside) Men Shorts Jeans T-shirts or polo shirts Linen clothing Swim shorts with T-shirt or polo (when not poolside) NOTE: Swimwear on its own, wet swimwear, revealing clothing, bathrobes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and clothes bearing any offensive messaging are not permitted. Covered swimsuits may only be worn at Trident Grill, Tastes, and Marketplace. Evening Resort A step up from Day Casual, after 18:00 we ask that guests adopt the more refined Evening Resort dress code. Suggestions for an Evening Resort look: Women Dress Skirts Pants Blouses or sweaters Dark-wash jeans with no rips Tailored dress shorts Men Shirts Collared polo shirt Sweaters or smart designer sweatshirts Dark-wash jeans with no rips (only when accompanied with a jacket) Chinos Sports jacket, or blazer (optional) Tailored shorts (these may only be worn in the Tastes restaurant) NOTE: Please avoid flip-flops/sliders, swimwear, and hats. Formal Evening On sailings, over seven days there will be at least one optional ship-wide formal night (depending on the length of the segment), which will require more formal cocktail chic attire. These special events will be defined in your personal pre-sailing guide. Suggestions for a Formal Evening look: Women Cocktail dresses or gowns Suits Evening skirts or pants with an elegant top Evening shoes Men Suits or tuxedos Shirts Dress shoes Ties (optional)
  21. From the FAQ just posted - extra specialty restaurant bookings - $50 extra per head for additional reservations if not entitled to extras based on status Seems fair to me - it will be interesting to see what entitlements, if any, carryover from old Crystal Society. No mention of certain categories getting more or full WCers getting unlimited but I’m pretty sure that will come WHICH RESTAURANTS ARE INCLUDED AND WHICH ARE SUBJECT TO AN UPCHARGE? Our restaurants are complimentary with the exeption of The Vintage Room. For our specialty restaurants such as Osteria d'Ovidio, guests will be allotted one complimentary reservation per voyage (more than one for longer stays). Reservations above the complimentary allotment will be $50 per person.
  22. Yes they’ve been on the Sydney, Australia ports listings for quite a while https://www.portauthoritynsw.com.au/cruise/cruise-schedule/
  23. I believe there are at least 6 restaurants on Explora 1 plus in suite dining - https://explorajourneys.com/it/en/life-on-explora/dining - do they really need a main dining room? Who cares what it looks like - the overall cruise experience is what will matter Right now the jury is still out on BOTH Explora and new Crystal - there are a ton of questions unanswered about what new Crystal will offer but many of us have not bothered asking them at this stage as they're still working on the offerings How anyone can suggest they know what new Crystal is going to be like is beyond me - there's a lot of faith in what they should deliver right now Oh I know - time will tell - and yes that's correct
