  1. I’d say if there is a modicum of comparison to it then the Crystal board makes sense (with maybe a link to it from the Regent board) - don’t worry about what others might say, the CC Hosts have not pulled comparison threads before and live from threads are encouraged. I’d say putting it on the Regent board and then comparing to Crystal will just antagonise the Regent die hards As Chatkat correctly points out Crystal classic is simply no longer and no one knows what the new Crystal will offer when they resume - but a comparison between old Crystal and Regent is still appropriate as many of us have the old Crystal as our benchmark (for me I only sailed Crystal with one excursion to Seabourn which did not work for us) You're in good company with Roland4 who we’ve been lucky to sail with - he and Mrs Roland are very experienced cruisers - and relaxed so I’m sure you’ll enjoy a nice drink and chat in the equivalent of the Palm Court
  2. @bitob Please post - we’re doing Regent in December so I’ll be interested in your comments Guess we’ll just have to bring our Crystal Society totes along to use as we’re not Concierge class or above so no Regent freebie for us 😉😂
  3. Glad you asked - we’ll be on the same cruise (our first on Regent - but we have been on Crystal on Christmas Day and they certainly celebrated it) I see they’re running limited shore excursions on Christmas Day while we’re at Airlie Beach but I’m interested on what’s on offer on board in terms of dining, shows and any other festivities (I’m a little old to be worrying about whether Santa makes an appearance)
  4. A couple of related questions re dining reservations Does anyone know what time (and what time zone) dining reservations open up at. I know it’s say 120 days before sailing but what I’m trying to find out is what time on that day do they open up from eg Noon GMT or 3pm New York etc Is that something anyone knows? Also when do they actually charge for the fees at say Kaiseki? Is that at the time of reserving or does it get added to your account on board (or taken from OBC if you have any?)
  5. Just closing this off to let everyone know how it panned out We got our restaurant reservations done today for our group of 6 (3 seperate reservation numbers) - it was easy to do online if you had the reservation numbers and the first and last name for one person from each reservation (it picks up both people on the reservations) - the online booking system was easy enough to use and relatively quick as once I loaded our 3 reservation groups that stuck for all the reservations I made - so no need to re-enter data I got good days and timing for our 3 reservations in Chartreuse, Prime 7 and Pacific Rim - I thought there might be issues because of the group size and because we’re just the lower class cabins ie not concierge class - so others had first pick earlier - but I was pleasantly surprised to find it all went smoothly Looking forward to our first Regent cruise in 74 days - but hey whose counting…
  6. Ha, thanks for correcting my miscalculation - the last 2 years of no international travel have clearly taken their toll on my time zone brain Yes you’re all right - we’re 14 hours ahead - so it is indeed 2pm on the 28th here So now onto hoping I get my preferred bookings tomorrow
  7. Thanks - that makes it easy for me then as I’m in the “far Pacific” time zone ie Sydney,Australia so that will be 2pm on the 29th for me 😂
  8. Ok thanks everyone - so I will have the booking numbers for each of the 3 couples on hand when I make the bookings later this week A follow up question if I may - what time (ie is it 1 minute past midnight in what time zone?) does the booking system open for reservations. Ours open on 28 September - so what specifically does that mean? Thanks
  9. Hoping you can help me with a simple question - we are doing our restaurant reservations and I have 6 people (but they are on 3 different booking numbers), how do I do that request for a table for 6 in the Regent system when bookings open later this week Will it let me reserve a table for all 6 at each of the restaurants that can be reserved in advance and if so do I need the reservation numbers, or some other reference number, or do I just enter 6 as the requirement? Appreciate your clarification of how to handle so I don’t hit a block when I can do it later this week

  11. Just be careful about how long that protection applies - AMEX is very good over a long term but Visa and MasterCard have strict timeframes for the advance booking protection - this has proven to be the case in the US and Australia when Crystal failed earlier this year I believe has stronger consumer protection however UK residents do pay for that through higher costs
  12. It must be - I read it on the internet 😂😂😂🧐😉 https://coffeeaffection.com/australia-coffee-statistics/ Hard to believe given the number of coffee shops, carts and other outlets serving barista coffee - I guess it’s a generational thing and will evolve over time
  13. I’m interested in the answer as I have 4 other friends we want to book for - ie 6 in total and they’re spread over 3 booking references
  14. Hope it helps The Japanese and their culture are indeed fascinating and intriguing - I worked for a large Japanese company and visited many times over 25 years - it is truly unique and I think very few westerners would claim to be able to “think” Japanese But it is absolutely my favourite country and people to visit (not forgetting the food too) - I still discover new things each time and we’re truly looking forward to returning after this enforced break
  15. Putting the change in the cabinet in perspective, it’s actually a cabinet reshuffle in Kishida’s existing government, not a change of Government - I would not be expecting any major change in direction “Indeed, the “new” Cabinet is not very new at all, with all but nine having served as Cabinet ministers before. Five are staying on in their current roles, including Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, and two returnees picked up positions they have held before. For example, Katsunobu Kato is taking over as Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare for the third time” https://www.japantimes.co.jp/opinion/2022/08/11/commentary/japan-commentary/cabinet-reshuffle-objectives/
  16. Received just now - non vaccinated guests will be allowed - but will have to do per-embarcation tests Dear Luxury Traveller, We write to you today to share an important update regarding our SailSAFE™ Health & Safety Program. Effective 3 September 2022, Regent Seven Seas Cruises® will welcome unvaccinated guests on board our ships. This will provide the opportunity for all luxury travellers to explore the world. Regent’s SailSAFE Health & Safety protocols for embarkation will be as follows: Vaccinated travellers will not need to test prior to embarkation, subject to local regulations. Unvaccinated travellers may embark with a negative COVID-19 antigen or PCR test from a lab or pharmacy taken within 3 days prior to embarkation, subject to local regulations. Testing and vaccination requirements will differ for guests travelling on voyages departing from destinations with specific local health regulations, including but not limited to Canada, Greece, the Bahamas and Bermuda. These requirements will be highlighted to guests approximately 30 days prior to sailing. The relaxation of this policy is in line with the greater travel industry around the globe as society continues to adapt and return to a state of normalcy. While this requirement is relaxed, Regent Seven Seas Cruises continues to strongly recommend that all guests test at their convenience prior to travel. As the public health environment evolves, this policy may be revised as necessary, and we will keep you informed of any changes. We look forward to welcoming you aboard soon. Jason Montague President & CEO Regent Seven Seas Cruises®
  17. Well that ended badly didn’t it I’m very pleased to see the new owners at Silversea fix the travesty that some ill advised Crystal management inflicted on her - Silver Endeavour she is now and the new owners recognise the significance and heritage associated with the correct name - and she’ll be sailing by Christmas 👍 Hope you didn’t pack anything in those bags you’ll need over the next 12 months - it seems like they won’t be sailing for another year - and depending on the itineraries they announce you may need to change your chosen wardrobe 😂😉
  18. l’m at 6 cancelled Silversea cruises, so far, during the pandemic - I really am trying to cruise with them - feeling very positive about the Feb cruise and just booked our shorex for it yesterday
  19. Hey it’s 2022 - after the last couple of years what could possibly go wrong 😂 I don’t think we really want to start a list… Glad to see her Australian tour is still on - at least that means our plans for February on the return trip to Singapore still have a chance of happening Fingers crossed for you
  20. Now you’ve got me thinking…. How about a circumnavigation of Australia (or two)? or Sydney - French Polynesia - Hawaii laps Aussies are getting stir crazy waiting for luxury ships - but remember there’s actually no international routes into / out of Australia being sailed yet…!
  21. Lovely guy - if you see him again perhaps he’ll do some of table side magic tricks for you. Note the fork in the picture It’s great to see him and his family settled ashore
  22. For completeness - this was the photo that was at the top of the email to Silversea customers - obviously photo shopped but great to see the name - Silver Endeavour
