  1. Simple question - So when is your reservation? I’m just speaking from practical experience where a friend found their reservation was a different time than they thought it was based on this reservation window issue
  2. So what time is your reservation? - 7pm or 8pm? Or anytime you like to turn up between 7-8pm? I think you’ll find when you get on board you will receive communications with a specific time between 7 and 8pm
  3. It says that next March is a long way away and anything could (and likely will) happen in that time….
  4. Because? Interested to hear your reasons - it clearly won’t be because of the price 😂😉
  5. My mistake - I must be confusing what happened on a couple of other lines and have been "trained" on the behaviour - sorry about that. But as you say by the time you make a reservation at most of those requiring reservations it would be polite to allow others the opportunity to book
  6. Yes you should make the reservations when they open at 120 days out in My Silversea. Note not all restaurants need to be booked in advance but some that are include - La Terrazza, Silver Note, The Grill, Kaiseki and La Dame (only some may exist of the ship you are on) You can book once per restaurant online before boarding and then when you board you can ask your butler to try to add more (as long as you’re flexible you should be able to get them)
  7. I think it’s a great place for one’s photo collections of Old Crystal to be posted - better than starting many repetitive threads that are posted on the New Crystal forum If one persons memories are to be posted in this thread then why on earth would they not allow others to do so? The CC rules apply here - so if you see something that breaks a rule then use the Report function to alert the Hosts to it - I believe many do so
  8. We were just on Silversea and really enjoyed that dining style - who needs a “MDR” when you have several excellent choices? In our case on Silver Muse we could opt for either Atlantide or Indochine and we found the regular menu changes really good as there were so many different dishes we wanted to try So for us it was far from “terrible” - in fact it was “excellent” I can’t comment on whether he walks on water or not but I’m definitely waiting to see further announcements that stamp his and Kent’s signature on their new acquisition- I don’t believe for one minute that won’t be the case and that “new Crystal” is simply a clone of “old Crystal”. If it is then I would think that would be a huge lost opportunity Time will tell 🥱 Bags are packed 🧳🛳️🥂
  9. Further coverage from Seatrade https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/hotel-operations-concessions/master-chef-nobu-matsuhisa-resumes-crystal-partnership? I noticed some are complimenting the new decor in Uni Uma but I saw one article that included those photos from the press release that noted they were renderings as opposed to actual photos So unless someone can confirm they’re actually photos and the works been completed it’s a case of time will tell as to just what it looks like - on both ships
  10. Important to note the booking window for shore excursions opens on the day you make your deposit for the cruise - so go in and do that as early as you can to secure your preferred excursions
  11. Sure - but right now we have ZERO who admit to being booked on the inaugural Just seems a little strange to me But maybe it also confirms just how few a number of cruisers actually use Cruise Critic
  12. Actually their Cruise Travel Insurance policy PDS says “Age limits - The maximum age limit for all policies is 79 year of age at the date of application”
  13. Oh certainly no Gyms on Crystal - but fortunately they have state of the art (apparently) fitness centres 😉
  14. I find it interesting that there seems that whilst there’s an underlying buzz about the inaugural Serenity cruise in July ( https://crystalcruises.com/cruises/return-to-service-cse-012-230731 ) no one has started a Roll Call for it (in fact there’s a very low count of roll calls for any of the future Crystal cruises) Are roll calls a “thing” anymore? Don’t be shy - who is booked for the inaugural cruise in late July? The roll calls can be found at: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2616-crystal-serenity-roll-calls/ https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/2617-crystal-symphony-roll-calls/
  15. Not strange at all - new Crystal have now announced their policies for these items therefore it’s no great surprise they’re up for discussion
  16. No idea what the menu will be in Umi Uma but this is what it was back in February 2020 - yum - lots of favourites on there plus all the sushi and sashimi dishes
  17. Now the big question - Will the Nobu Chardonnay also return? - hope so!
  18. Great news - well that just about “pays” for our next Crystal cruise with savings on Nobu dining
  19. Some? I’d say ALL have restrictions regarding pre existing conditions. Some have a list of reasonably simple pre existing conditions they will cover but I believe many won’t even entertain other pre existing conditions - no ifs buts or maybes Are you aware of any that don’t have restrictions on pre existing conditions?
  20. Looking at one member with a very high post count list of which we’re on old Crystal it seems the post count hasn’t reduced at all Its a real shame to lose all that history and IP / knowledge - let it be a lesson to us all that things on social media are at the mercy of the site owners in terms of access and retention - sites come and go but in this case it seems the deletion of the old forum and it’s contents were deleted when it wasn’t really necessary to do so
  21. ALL that IP and valuable information and memories vaporised - no longer accessible at all as far as I can see Not the best decision IMHO but some got what they wanted CC must be about the only place where the line between NC and OC is so clear - everywhere else it varies between “they’re new and different entities” to “it’s the same as old Crystal” Oh well time will tell
  22. Try Insure and Go - https://www.insureandgo.com.au/ - one of the questions they ask is age related and they cover p to 100 year olds (we should be so lucky) - they also cover many pre-existing conditions (the only one I've found that will even consider covering mine) Yes it will cost more to cover your pre-existing conditions - but you can hardly be surprised at that given the increased risk to the insurer and I've found the extra premium which they will clearly identify isn't too bad From discussions with older friends in the US it seems that we are charged a lot less by insurers as we get older or have pre-existing conditions than they are in the US
  23. I believe that's the case in the US but it is certainly not the case in Australia - where the OP is located
