  1. We love the Spirit class. We will sail on the Miracle in January for our 3rd time. Small enough to not be a hassle to get around, great passenger to space ratio, entertaining decor :D , a newish water park, and the crew has always been super.

  2. There is nothing they give expect a birthday cake and singing one night in the MDR. If you wanted that, you can go on your booking and there is a cruise checklist. There is a link to plan a celebration, there is multiple packages to choose from, but they do cost. The only thing that is free is the Cake and Singing in the MDR.

They won't sing to you if you ask them not too. :) I think they were a little relieved when I asked them not to. There had already been 4 birthdays that evening that we heard. They will bring plates and silverware for you.

  3. I do have another question. She said she wanted to do cash so I did that for her onboard account. Now she wants to do a card and I can't get it to let me edit that choice? I click edit and it won't give me a choice to choose a card anymore. The only other option is delete and I don't want to do that because then I don't know if I can add her back.

She can still give her card at check in or even once onboard.

We've used the Hampton Inn Airport and the Hyatt Place Airport. Both were clean and safe and our car was fine when we returned. However, I do not think the Hyatt Place has a park n cruise package any longer. I mention it only because we have used it before a cruise out of Jax.

I would not recommend the Comfort Suites Airport. We stayed there on the way home from Miami in February and it was run down and had stranger characters running up and down the halls yelling at each other all night.

    Have a great cruise!

  5. After another post in another thread I thought this would be a great topic to discuss. Please add to the list if you have any good ones or even bad ones...

    People:

1.Share Cheers/Bubbles that was meant for one person Separate from your cruise price

2.Share wifi programs that was meant for one person Also separate from your cruise price.

3.Smuggle booze on to the ship for personal consumption, no harm right? That's why you can't bring on bottled soda or water any longer.

4.Depart the ship smuggling 32 boxes of cereal for home use (yes this was real) Criminal, but 32 cents worth of cereal didn't raise your cruise price.

5.Order excess amount of food (10 lobsters etc....) Carnival expects that. It's built into the food budget.

6.Rock the "CASH" machine in the casino to get the stacks of money to fall and then play stupid when confronted by security. The Casino is a separate vendor. Zero to do with your cruise price.

    7. Run to CS and remove all tips because you had to turn a light on when entering your cabin or any other silly reason. Gratuities are completely separate from your cruise price.

    8. Pack away that big blue beach towel while going home because it was a gift no doubt. You tell your steward on the way out you dropped it in the box while watching the movie last night. You'll be charged. Trust me.

Did you come up with any that actually do have an effect on cruise pricing? Like supply and demand? Bunker fuel futures? Competition? Insurance prices? Loans for new ships?

  6. Brand new cruiser to Carnival.

Bought 4 cards actual gift cards via AARP & 4 e-cards via some other on-line offer - can't remember details right now, but it was recommended on this site and lots of people bough them. .

So am I supposed to add these to my S&S acct prior to my trip? Not sure how this works.

Cruise is already PIF but will use the cards for gratuities, drinks, etc.

Would prefer to avoid going to GS, if at all possible, but want to make sure I do this correctly & w/ least amt of hassle.

    TIA

    TIA

Redeem onboard as needed through the kiosks. If you have a remaining balance (of $5 or more) at the end of the cruise, Carnival will mail you a check.

  7. I wonder if this is related to what ship one is on? There were plenty of staff on Fascination and the MDR service while not impeccable was certainly acceptable (plenty of bar waiters and staff also).

I'd be willing to bet on that. We've always had excellent service on our cruises. However, our last cruise was on the Vista, and the dining room service was abysmal. I blamed it on American Table, but cut backs in personnel was obvious.

We didn't spend a lot of time on the Lido, so I can't vouch for the really crowded areas, but lines and waiting were common everywhere we went.

  8. I've been pretty vocal about my utter hatred of the American Table set up. The table ends up crowded and cramped, I miss the tablecloths, the dining room seems louder, and the service level has dropped due to Carnival cutting back on personnel.

But we've never eaten dog food on a Carnival ship, we've always found something tasty to eat, and we like the flat iron steaks.

I do wish they'd learn to make proper grits though. ;)

  9. Before this escalates again and the next persons says

    SUE CARNIVAL!....

You guys know that calling Carnival Customer Service is a crapshoot. Call one, don't like the answer, hang up and call again. The OP just needs to call back and speak to a supervisor. Changing a cruise by 3 days is a huge deal, and I'm sure they will refund.

    Deep breath!

Next time consider getting your own PVP. They usually have better info.

  10. Interesting. We found the Lido buffet packed every single day for breakfast and lunch.

Quieter at dinner, but the menu was close to the same as the dining rooms and served hot.

    Dog food? Really?

I am sorry you didn't have a good cruise. I hope your next one is better.
