You can plan for this, but the cruise line might announce a shuttle directly to Blankenberge while you are on the cruise. For us, we were notified of this the night before the port and it was vague as to which town it would drop us off in. I'm guessing that if there is a shuttle to "town" it will be Blankenberge. Pay attention to any information provided before docking at this port and also when you get off the ship, there might be buses with signs to Blankenberge. This would be right off the ship and not at the terminal entrance if it were to be organized by the ship.

I'm not sure there is much to see in Zeebrugge itself but if there is a shuttle to Blankenberge then do take that as it seems there is more to see and do there

We just got back from doing this as well. Thanks to all the suggestions here I had a number of options in mind though in the end there was a shuttle from the ship to Blankenberge. They had announced that there would be a shuttle into "town" the night before but were not clear as to which town and from where. We initially did mistake getting right off the ship and getting on the shuttle to the port terminal thinking that might be where we would catch the shuttle into town, but while on that first bus I noticed a row of buses lined up with a sign that said "shuttle to Blankenberge" which passengers did not seem to head towards. When I got to the port terminal, I asked one of the staff who said we could take the coastal tram, but when I specifically asked about the buses that were there he asked the driver who said there were other shuttles to Blankenberge. We took the shuttle back to the ship and got on one of the other shuttles. We were lucky because we just made it onto the train to Bruges- really cut it close. I bought train tickets while enroute on the bus. The shuttle stopped across the street from the train station and as all trains from Blankeberge stop in Bruges, we just needed to run for the only train there. In the end we were able to spend over 4 hours in Bruges which was a lovely way to end our cruise because it was our last port prior to disembarking the next day.

Is it true that all trains leaving Blankenberge goes through Bruges? When I looked at the train schedule it seems the trains to Bruges were hourly- 950/ 1053- are there additional trains that may not have been listed but have Bruges as a stop.

Thank you! So good to know of these options. I'm presuming that the trains from both Zeebrugge-Strand and Blankenberge go to the same train station in Bruges- it will also allow for some options coming back if we can take either train to find our way back to the ship.

Thank you!! Looking in the App Store, there are 2 apps that seem to allow you to buy tickets in Oslo Ruter- mobility in Oslo/Viken and the other is RuterBillett. Which one should I be using?

I'm traveling with a senior and 2 kids. Is there anywhere else I can buy tickets around there or does the app allow you to buy for more than 1 person at a time. 2.5 km would be okay for us to walk but it's nice to have an option to get there quicker and then gradually walk back. Thanks!

This is so good to know! Why more adventurous? It seems that both trains from Zeebrugge-Strand and Blankenberg only run once an hour- we might have more control with walking instead of waiting for the shuttle. We will be there in August so the train should be running?

It looks like we are also docking at Filipstad on Aug 15 on the Disney Dream. We were hoping to go to the New Harbour area and Munch museum. Thinking that the cruise port was fairly close to the city, I had planned on walking. But looking at the maps now it seems that the area is 4 km away. What would be the best way to get to the city from the port? Thanks!

Where can we find the fees for using a contactless card from Euston to Watford Junction vs pre-buying rail tickets. I'm presuming this includes Oyster cards. If this is the case, I now have 3 cards I can use but will still need to buy a single return ticket for a child at the station.

Thank you. I'll look into the Viking museum as well. The last time we were in Stockholm we went to the Vasa Museum, Skansen and GS with the kids. Was trying to think of something a little different to do but realize now with the ship docked further away that we have less time. It seems the travel card for the train from Nynashamn might also work on transit in Stockholm as it is part of Stockholm county?

I just realized that we are docked in Nynashamn for our cruise in August. The last time we were in Stockholm we were docked in Stadsgarden so my notes from then are not helpful. What would be the best way to get to the ABBA museum, perhaps visit Galam Stan and back on our own? I read there is a train from Nynashamn to the Stockholm train station? Would we purchase a public transit pass to get around Stockholm? Thanks

So it sounds like the shuttle bus from the port to the Blankenberg train station is arranged by the port and not the ship which is so helpful to know. Thanks!
