Any idea if Costco is one of the ones that don't participate? We're 40 days out and we've never received any royal up emails.

Costco does not participate in the Royal Up program.  https://costco-travel-us-mbr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4142/~/does-costco-travel-participate-in-any-cruise-line-bid-to-upgrade-programs%3F

I can't remember...when applying for a passport, do they actually take your birth certificate with the application and then return it to you after you get your new passport?

I'm worried that if they do take it and the passport doesn't come in time for our cruise, then my nephew won't have at least the birth certificate to show with a photo government ID.  This is a closed-loop cruise out of California.

yes, you do have to submit your birth certificate and they will send it back via USPS.

For those jumping on the TA being at fault for this - OP said he'd already checked in for the cruise, I don't think they allow you to check in for a cruise that's not fully paid.

You can check in before final payment.  Our check in opened yesterday - 45 days prior to sailing.  Final payment is due 30 days prior.  We have been paid since September, but others we are sailing with were able to check in even though they had not yet made final payment.

Everything is paid on full and i was checked in as well. Paid in full in November 2021

It sounds like maybe your TA did not send the payment to RCI.  Since you booked thru a TA, this has to be resolved through them.  I found out last week that even though I had a receipt from my TA, a portion of my deposit was never charged to my card or sent to RCI.  It was discovered because I was waiting for a refund from a price drop in September that never came.

You can check in without final payment being made.

Just curious how you know your check-in day? I haven't been paying close attention and just occasionally check my cruise planner and check in when I notice it's open.

The check in date is on the app.  The website only tells you that it is not yet available.   We are on Anthem 3/20 sailing and our check in date is Feb. 3rd.

Check in has been running anywhere from 30 to 45 days before your sail date.

Yes, you may check in on your phone on the app or log in to website on your laptop.

After you check in you will need to upload a photo of front and back side of your vaccine cards.    We did this from on the app that we have on our phones since I took the pictures using our phone.

Cabins have been ready around 2 pm on recent Anthem sailings.

We are on the Anthem on 3/13.  We checked in on line the other day.  At that time we were able to select the earliest check in time that was available. You have choice of the times that are listed.

Our check-in day is this Thursday.  Do you know how early on Thursday I can go on-line to complete the check-in?

  7. We have to check in later this week for our March cruise on Anthem.  This is our first cruise since the restart, so we have not had to deal with boarding times, etc.

    1. What time does check-in open?
    2. Can we check in using our laptop or do we have to use the phone app?

If the cabin is over the dance floor where the band plans in the Vista lounge these last mini's on deck 8 can be noisy.  Most ships the band plays on port side.

Look at deck plans to see what's above and below your cabin.

I checked that out.  The band is on the port side.  We are starboard.

  9. Thanks, everyone!  I did not realize that deck 9 was uncovered balconies.  Just got lucky and was able to book deck 8 ME  E731 -  one with the big balcony.  Happy to save on the room and use the extra money toward shore excursions.  🙂

Black Friday - Cyber Monday Sale, not really. Just normal advertising hook. I took screen shots of dining, drinks, internet, key packages on Monday prior to sale. Checked cruise planner yesterday and today, all prices are exactly the same except now has pretty pink banner that says sale price. Net sale savings $0.

Sale prices for many sailings were already up on Monday, hence the title of this thread.  And all cruise planner pricing is dependent on the ship/sailing date.  I have been watching prices for my March sailing on Anthem and saved a lot of money this week.  Sorry you are not experiencing the same benefit.
