  1. So if you want to fly to Bar Harbor, can you force airlines or bus companies or trains to take you there, if they don't service that city? I'm confused as to what you think is unlawful about this.
  2. Good question - I would hope you would hear something within a couple months or so. It will take a while to work out alternate ports.
  3. That's what happened in Florida - the governor claimed a 'state interest' (but never defined it) and changed the rules about port authority to take away Key West's home rule. Miami, Tampa and Canaveral objected because it might have affected them, but when it was rewritten to be specific to one port that defied him, the other ports looked the other way. A fine example of democracy in action......
  4. So you're going to go to Bar Harbor and force them to change their votes? I'm curious as to how you plan to accomplish this.
  5. We had a great time walking around, but the few restaurants they had were full of ship's tasting tours for the first 3 hours. We got snacks and tea/coffee from the high school kids who set up a booth. Who doesn't want to support a bunch of industrious kids who got to skip school to practice their English on us? But the grocery stores were great, and I wish I had known we could have taken our passports to the Post Office to get stamped from Greenland!
  6. And they have a dozen or so cruise ships a year? Not one almost every day, sometimes 2, for months.
  7. Remember that the government of Florida overrode their local vote. 😞 Hopefully Maine will not do the same.
  8. Bar Harbor residents voted Tuesday to place tighter regulations on the cruise ship industry after years of complaints about overcrowding in the tourist mecca. Voters passed a petition restricting the number of cruise ship passengers who can come ashore on any given day. The town will now allow no more than 1,000 people per day to disembark from cruise ships, though questions remain about enforcement. https://www.bangordailynews.com/2022/11/09/news/hancock/bar-harbor-cruise-ships-election/
  9. AJ was a hoot - he joined the ship during our cruise and was so happy to be there! The whole team meshed well, and worked around each other in the small space behind the bar. We never tired of watching them work - helping each other, dancing around each other to get to something on the other side. We left a great review and left a very nice tip. I'm glad you had a good cruise.
  10. Our waiter always offers us more lobster, and when one person says yes, he brings a plate with three or four in case he can talk anyone else into taking one.
  11. The Crown Lounge is a favorite - usually empty, great internet if you're getting if from the local area. 🙂 It's also great for people watching on the decks below.
  12. The crew is awesome, and part of that is the captain. If you go to the Top Tier event, they bring out regular crew to recognize for years of service. Nice touch.
  13. I am so sorry to hear that - but by 'sleepy piano music' you're not talking about the woman playing classical music, I hope. We really enjoyed listening to her.
  14. I found a new drink in the Schooner Bar and R Bar, a 'nuts and berries'. One shot each Bailey's (cocoa nut), Frangelico (hazelnut) and Chambord (raspberry). If you run across Lina in the Schooner Bar, tell her the flamingo lady remembers her. ❤️
  15. They had a very good ice skating team. The 'extra' C&A activity for us was to come to the theater and meet some of the entertainment team. We had the stage manager from the production show, the dance captain, and the ice team captain. It was quite informative.
  16. Since you now have to go on your own - enjoy it!
  17. Voyager is much the same - it's the cigar lounge outside the Star Lounge. As long as they have free coffee in the morning, I'm happy.
  18. The CREW gets some stuff - we saw a guy on Voyager that had a 'Wonder of the Seas Inaugural Crew' hoodie. 🙂 From the Wonder's cruise, it did look like there was a decent amount of swag, and definitely better food in Windjammer.
  19. Thanks! I have wondered if such a service existed.
  20. My TA points out that they have not said that the January 27 sailing will indeed be the 'maiden voyage'.
  21. Enjoy! We were on Voyager for the Crossing and the two weeks before it. We met some awesome crew members.
