@April42749 This is more a exercise to quench my curiosity than an actual question for an upcoming cruise. I appreciate all of the offers of help, though.

IF you choose a Getaway Cabin, no room to complain...IMHO...
I agree. We always seem to hear about the successes with the system, not the failures. I was trying to get a feel of the chances of getting a good room if I tried a GTY. According to most of the posts that I have read, I will get a good room. I have a hard time convincing myself that good balcony rooms will be left open for GTY assignments and that people will purposely choose rooms above nightclubs, theaters and under the pool deck. It just seems like the odds are in favor of getting a not so great location. I am just trying to get realistic facts.

I started this thread mostly out of a curiosity to find out the stories of people who have received less than desirable cabins. While I have only been on two cruises, with two more booked, I have always paid extra to choose my location. I am way too much of a control freak to allow my rather expensive vacation to be controlled by the whims of a computer algorithm.

I am one of those people that shy away from ther GTY rooms, afraid of getting a crummy location right above the Cavern Club or under the pool deck. I see many fellow cruisers responding on this forum where they chose the GTY cabin and got a great cabin. What I don't hear are complains where they received a really crummy location. Surely someone has gotten a less than desirable cabin. Let's hear your horror stories.

@ATXBecky Please keep us informed, especially after you get the complete info. A lot of are also waiting.

Where is the record locator on your edocs and what does it look like? How do you know which airline from just the number?
My eDocs did what so many others have done and disappeared, only to return without flight info. My initial peek at the eDocs showed my record locator was DL-XXXXXX. This indicated Delta Airlines. They remain confirmed but not ticketed, so that number could become invalid at any time. I hope not, because I like my flights. They are not nonstops, but pretty good.

have a nice dinner or sitting at a Patio at a pub will be wonderful.
I think that is what we are going to do. All of our ports, even on past cruises, have been rush, rush to squeeze as much in as possible. I'm going to mellow out here and just relax.

But I couldn't find any flight info nor see where I should look for flight info. So I called Norwegian and asked about it and the rep sent me an email with the flight info. He said I should have been able to see it under edocs, but I still can't. However, at least I now have my flight info.
I checked an hour ago and no eDocs. I just checked and, like you, I had my eDocs but no flight info. It's getting better.

And all the online stuff is totally finalized with flight seats booked too xx
Are your flights, on the the airline website, marked as confirmed or ticketed? Confirmed means they are being held but have not been paid for by NCL. Mine are confirmed but not ticketed and I was able to select seat assignments.
-
Dang. Just checked again and eDocs are gone. At least I have a copy of mine
-
No worries. It made my Saturday to see that there was on 56 days left.
-
Currently 56 days. But I was able to see eDocs in May, before the web site debacle.

I finally got my eDocs for my Sept 7 cruise. I first talked to a guest relations person, who said it was my checkin had not been completed, even though the web site said it was. Once that was done, it was determined that it must be a technical issue. Then I talked to tech support, who found out everything was good, but something about the air promo was holding me up. I then talked to the air department, who found that there was some flag indicating that something was wrong. Once that was cleared I got me eDocs. This time, I saved them away, printed them and emailed them to myself. I am happy now.
It's not their fault, they are doing their best.

Thanks @PNW Traveler, that sounds great.

I had my edocs for quite some time, and then they were removed
The same thing happened to me. I got the eDocs, made my seat assignments on Delta and then the eDocs vanished. I talked to customer support, who said it was a technical issue. I talked to tech support and they say it is an issue with ticketing my plane reservations (note above that I have gotten my reservations and picked my seats). Now I am to call air support and get it released.
Yes, they have had major problems with the rollout. On the other side, I am a software engineer and I know how major upgrades like this can go dramatically sideways very quickly. And while the obvious solution would be to back out the changes, that is not usually feasible. What would happen to all the reservations / changes that people have made since the rollout? They would be lost. I am having patience and sympathy for these guys and gals. I will bet that they are working very long hours to fix this.

Thanks @BirdTravels, but it's 72 days out and the NCL site says to book on-board for both shows. Of course, my edocs appeared and then disappeared a few weeks ago so perhaps it's just the messed up NCL website.

I am going on Joy in September. How critical is it to make reservations, once on board, to the Footloose and Elements shows. It is feasable to just show up or is it usually filled up?
Thanks

Hi all,
I will be on the Norwegian Joy when she visits Victoria on Sept 13. We arrive at 3:00 pm and depart at 9:30 pm. I was hoping to do the Craigdarroch Castle but it closes at 4:30. Historical things like the "castle" are most interesting to me and DW. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to kill a few hours at that time of day?
TIA
Steven

@elwood_98034 Ahhh. That's what I thought. I am trying to figure out specialty dinner plans. That helps a lots. Thanks

I will be on a similar cruise in September. Also listed on my itinerary is Scenic Glacier Cruising "Overnight". When should I expect to see the glaciers? I am not a spring chicken, so there is a big difference between 10 pm and 4 am. Both or what I consider overnight. At 10, I will certainly be on the deck or balcony looking around. At 4, I will be studying the inside of my eyelids.
Thanks

Thanks everyone, especially @martincath for your great insight. It looks like Victoria won't be a bust after all. Just short.

My DW and I will be taking our first cruise to Alaska in September. We are really looking forward to it.
As I am working out my shore excursions I have come to the last port, Victoria, BC. We arrive a 3:00 pm and leave at 9:30 pm. We really wanted to do the castle but their last tour is at 4 and we were told we could not make it. What else is there to do in Victoria? We like historical things, walking though the buildings and hearing stories about days gone by.
We are looking for suggestions.
Thanks

New to NCL. I got the ultimate drink package as a perk. I was looking at the list of included drinks and I see that some of my favorites (Glenfiddich and Glenlivet) are only available with the premium drink package. Is it possible to pay a little more and get some of the good single malt scotches, sorta like paying for drinks over $15?

Don't you get something in exchange for the resort fee? Bottled water, newspaper, free internet access, maybe free local transportation?
Not from what I have seen. From my perspective it is just another tax.
Entertainment Booking - General Admission or Reserved Seating
in Norwegian Cruise Line

I am going on Joy in September to Alaska. I know the two bookable shows onboard are Footloose and Elements. I would like to see both. It looks like I will have to book onboard. When I book a slot in either of these shows am I booking specific seats or is it just general admission? If it is general admission, I will plan to get to the theater very early and get the seats that I prefer.
TIA
