We are booked on Iona for. 28 August. Gary Barlow is on board.

For all you know, Gary might have cancelled and be awaiting his refund. 😋

  2. I would assume they are suing due to not being given adequate warning of the increased danger level and opportunity to make a better informed decision on whether to take the trip.

And in respect of that, I personally don't see what is wrong with at least pursuing claims against RC - they do have a duty of care towards all their customers.

I'd imagine those defending RC might well feel very differently had they been directly affected by this terrible tragedy.

  3. Exactly Andy. A bit like when driving, you need to have your wits about you with what others might do. Shopping unfortunately is hard work to negotiate perfectly at the current time.

On the bench thing, I can understand needing a rest, but personally I haven't and wouldn't sit on one since this outbreak, and wouldn't exercise to the extent or in an area where I'd potentially need one.

I've seen quite a few sat on the benches around our village when walking my dog, of all ages, and just think why risk it?

  4. You might feel in fine fettle in your 60s, and it's great that you are, but the fact is you're 30-40 years past a human's general physical peak, so it's just common sense that percentage wise, you're deemed more at risk.

We get older, and things don't work as well, to a greater or lesser extent, it's natural progression, innit?  When I was 25, I felt I was indestructible. Another 25 years on, there's plenty of signs that it's not really the case anymore lol

Unless like me you are not a fan of sitting in the sun and prefer to sit in warm shade, in which case book starboard!

Lol, understandable and a fair point indeed, although like terrierjohn mentioned above, we found it pretty darn cold for virtually all the TA trip (this is on the Independence) - it was nothing like warm shade - and it was imperative for us that we swapped sides the year after.

  6. IMHO, it sounds a not unreasonable assessment that so many won't go back, but sure there will be enough who will continue regardless in the short term, and then over some considerable time numbers will, steadily, increase again.

But what be lost/changed as part of this? Fair chance of ship quantity and staff streamlining?  Port streamlining for both mandatory (we don't want you) and monetary (more time on ship to spend more) reasons? Free food streamlining for more on board spend again? More free facilities lost and new cabins added, or the opposite of that, actually lose some of the extra cabins previously added and introduce new spending facilities? Staggered buffet sittings?

Whatever happens, it'll be fascinating to see how it all develops for the industry, and how they will modify but retain the appeal.
