I found this ...
"On one way fly-cruises sailing from Southampton, a coach will take you directly from the airport to board your ship in Southampton and you’ll fly home following your cruise to find your car waiting. The details of when and where the coach transfer will depart from will be viewable on your Cruise Personaliser in the 'Full Itinerary View' tab approximately 30-35 days prior to departure as this is when the details are confirmed with the coach company."

I hadn't heard that one before, but it's certainly true in my case. When a dining companion asks for a steak to be "well done", I feel like bursting into tears!
Why? It's their choice. Respect that.

It all seems quite disingenuous to me, but the overriding question for me is: why?
For me, surely it'd be better to actually advertise all three prices, including the (supposed) original crossed out, to at least give the impression of the good savings to be had (and avoid any confusion and annoyance).

I've always said they should ask people on the pre-cruise registration and questionnaires whether they are likely to participate in formal nights (maybe scaled). Then arrange them onto the different floors as best fit.
Me personally, I have zero interest in ever wearing a dinner jacket - a completely hideous thought for me. However, each to their own, and appreciate some people love it.

Lol, I know. I'm from the posh end of Burnleh (that's not an oxymoron, 'onest).

So much easier being a bloke. One wallet, one pair shoes, two pairs trainers, job done. 😋

Are you saying us Southerners are inconsiderate... I always stay seated on the train or bus allowing the old person to stretch their legs...
See, considerate 😊
Andy
Go on then, there's enough logic in there to let you have that one lol

While it's mildly frustrating, I wouldn't let it bother me in the slightest. There will always be people who are going to be inconsiderate, even after you might challenge them, so I'd probably joke they were southerners 😏 and crack on.

You are right, it is where you choose to drink wherever you are in the country.
We have pubs that sell cheap beer, but I choose not to use them.
I am happy to pay £5.20 a pint for Peroni in my local in comfortable surroundings with nice clientele, so £4.70 on board seems reasonable, especially compared to some other cruise lines.
Andy
Maybe "happy" is not quite the right word, but I know what you mean 😋
But I thought £4 in our posh local for it was expensive, guess I should think again lol

Don’t go to Goodwood races,£9 a pint in a plastic cup!😮
Only just read this. Bloody hell, that's outrageous. I'd have probably said forget it when they asked for the money lol
I remember going to Wembley in the early 90s to watch Burnley (yep, honest), and seeing "Special offer, pie and a pint £8". Back then I could have got that three times locally 😂

Yeah, I'd suggest as above too, find a tour bus/taxi for $20-30, away from P&O, and have a few hours tour (sometimes including an hour or so for a beach, or a nice walk around).
We've done Barbados, Antigua and St. Kitts like that, and felt it to be well worth it.

Well, we've decided to give P&O and Oceana a try, in January, so will see how we go. Sure we'll be fine regardless, as we're not moaners, and always ensure we're occupied as best able. It'll also give us a better impression of whether Aurora to Canada next September for a big birthday remains on the list after sampling the cruise line 🙂
-
Thanks both. I'm certainly past the age of all action, but just worry we'll personally struggle to stretch things out across up to eight sea days. Though one cannot argue at the prices and no flying lol

I'd received an email about these this morning, and of course the prices are fantastic, but having had a read on the web and looked at a few videos, the Oceana looks a pretty boring ship to me, with not much in the way of diverse activities to keep you occupied across many sea days. Is that a fair assumption, or not?
-
Luckily laying on a sunbed is something I rarely want to do, but on the rare occasions I do, I'd personally only deem going for a quick swim, toilet break or to the bar as fair reasons to retain the sunbed. Anything else and I'd be moving my stuff.
-
Perhaps P&O entertainment team could introduce a brand new event to the itinerary for the late night revellers ... I give you "Taser Quest" 😋
-
I hope this incident puts enough people off P&O to force them to drop their prices, especially for a particular cruise I have my eye on 😏

Another point to remind about when considering drinks packages is of course the proportion of sea and port days there will be on the cruise (assuming you'll get off at most/all stops).

It's also a bit unfair to call others selfish. If I hadn't read this on here for example, I wouldn't have even considered that leaving a balcony door could possibly unduly affect anyone else (certainly not to the extent suggested).

England and Ireland in the summer? Absolutely make sure the waterproof jackets are packed! 😂(you should have come last year lol)
-
Arguably sounds like an excuse from the engineers, and if it isn't, to me it seems like poor design/setup. Probably say that to give those who love to moan a good reason to moan. 😂
-
No problem with the formal nights, I'd just stay away, but what's preventing me becoming a customer at the moment is the so-called "casual night attire", as shoes more often than not cause me foot issues.
-
Perhaps they could include a question in the online check-ins as to whether you're likely to be "tuxed" up, and then they can align seating arrangements accordingly?
There's no chance I'll ever get dressed up to that level - far too uncomfortable for me - but I'm more than happy to be shoved into an area where on those nights I'm smartly dressed but not to that level.
Even suits and jackets are purely the domain of weddings and funerals for me these days, but I fully appreciate those who wish to go the whole hog from time to time.

Itinerary is important to me, and I'm very keen to go to Quebec - looking at next year - so P&O is one of the limited options available to me with limited/no flying
Shoes always tend to cause me foot issues, and as such I'm in trainers 99% of the time, so I suppose with that, and being a proper casual type, I'd better accept if I go on this ship I'd be in the Horizon for 24 nights running 😂 (just me and my fellow Claret 😋).

We did Indy trans last two years end Oct. First year it was probably 4 days in before the sunbeds were full, but last year it was a full week.
