  1. I made a mock booking when the promo was 2nd person free. Then the next day it changed to 50% off. The bottom line was the exact same. and there were no changes made to the reservation. However, my sister in law changed a booking from early April (same ship) to the one I made the booking on and her cruise price went down $300. (different cabin. Mine is studio hers solo balcony)
  2. I've asked this question before and still puzzled. After my last cruise this line about Future Cruise Credit appeared across the top of my screen with "book any sailing before 12/2025" (not exact wording) I asked a PCC what this meant. She went off , came back and said "it is referring to your Cruise First and Cruise Next certificates in your account. But ignore the part about using before 2025 because they dont have expiration dates anymore." This doesnt make sense. My CF and CN always expired way after 12/25. I dont think she is right but if she isnt, then what is this future cruise credit and how much is it? There is no notation anywhere. Just like on your reservation in your account there is no notation you used a CN or CF on the reservation. If you do the math you can figure it out but ???? I'm wondering if this FCC is referring to something to do with the 8 $250 CN certificates I bought on board my last cruise. It was after the cruise it appeared. But why doesnt it tell anything about it?
  3. "their blatant promotion of this will eventually get it shut down"- emphasis on the word "promotion" Are you saying do it, just dont tell anyone?
  4. You dont think NCL is not aware and is choosing to overlook it? I really doubt it. Its a legal loophole, just like all those legal loopholes people use for their income tax (and probably you as well) NCL may be working on eliminating this loophole. Whether you choose to take advantage of it is your personal decision. I know some people who dont take advantage of legal loopholes with their personal income taxes. It doesnt "feel right" to them. Fine, dont do it then.
  5. ok, thanks. that seems to be what everyone is saying.
  6. Yes, that is what Julig just told me. Go through "payment" and apply it yourself. crazy that their agents arent all on the same page
  7. Ok, I will try that to apply it as a payment. Thinking back though, its possible my booking didnt otherwise apply. However, she did say "the triple up promo started on 11/8 and you booked 11/7, therefore it doesnt apply". She was clear about that. (wrong, but clear. In other words, I didnt misunderstand her) A friend I am traveling with changed a booking tonight and he became her "PCC" and invited me to ask him any questions I might have so I think I will make him my PCC as well for future bookings. I agree that's better than having a random person each time.
  8. right, in another answer I wrote that you do have to keep track if a the certificate is attached to a promo. It might not be worth the stress. But you are tying up your certificates if you apply them to a cruise over a year away and there is no promo attached to them, are you not? You might find a cruise in the meantime you could use them on if you still had them to use.
  9. I answered this above but I think this is where I should have answered it. On a chat session a few minutes ago the chat person said the triple up can be used only on new bookings from 11/8. ????
  10. No, I just tried to apply a 3rd CN certificate to a booking that is not fully paid for but the booking was made on 11/7 and the Triple Up Promo starts 11/8
  11. I just checked with the chat person. This is so crazy, all the different dates and rules for the promo. You can really screw up! 1) To remove any certiicate you have to cancel the booking and then rebook. You may or may not get the same price. 2) the triple up promotion started on 11/8. If you booked on 11/7 (which I did) you can NOT apply the triple certificate to that booking . Someone on here said they could and they did. 3) Even thought they billed me the $250 for the rejected cruise next certificate it will still take the full amount of time to go back to my account, just as if it was a cancelled booking. Oh Lord, how can anyone keep all of this straight I didnt bother to ask her on the chat but yes, I think its better to hold onto your CN and CF certificates until closer to the final payment date as long as they are not attached to any promo rules. Because if you are booking a year in the future those certificates will be tied up in that reservation and you may see a cruise you want to go on inthe meantime and wouldnt be able to use them (because of the 4 month rule)
  12. Up until recently, when I began booking future cruises, I had 1 $300 CF certificate and 2 $500 CF certificates plus 8 $250 CN certificates. I made 2 bookings and used both $500 CF certificates. I have since cancelled those cruises and I realize that the certificates used will be returned to my account 5-10 work days after. I used 2 $250 CN for a cruise in Octoer 2024. If you look at the reservation for these cruises you see a total amt due and the date if is due. Nowhere does it say I used these certificates to get to these amounts due . If you do the math it works out but I wonder why it doesnt show the certificates used since they have been removed from my account already? In another booking I tried to use 2 of the CN certificates but because it was within 4 months of the sailing it would only accept 1 of the certificates. but the other one that was rejected immediately has not been returned to my account yet. But they billed me immediately and said if I didnt pay it immediately then "cancellation policy" would apply?. (since it was so close to the sailing date I had to pay in full when I reserved) This is very confusing. To avoid this confusion in the future, and since you can apply a CN or CF certificate anytime before final payment, wouldnt it be better to keep your certificates in your account and only apply them as the full payment date comes close?
  13. Not a cruise but a transatlantic voyage, 8 days from NYC to Southampton August 1966 on the Cunard ship RMS Sylvania. It was one of their smaller ships, taken out of service a few years later and then scrapped. I was 16 and had a wonderful time. As a result of this experience I became a ship "groupie" for the next 10 years or so, visiting all the ships that came into the NYC docks. Then never cruised/sailed again until I took another TA on the QM2 in 2013.
  14. No towel animals, no fish to follow...... boring
  15. Ok, no books, magazines, newspaper or DAILIES because they are all flammable. Honestly, I havent heard of something so foolish in a long time. Using your analogy, people who live in an apartment complex shouldnt put wreaths on the exterior of their apartment door, a well accepted decorating practice. Not only might they offend, they can be flammable as well. NCL has the right to make any rule that they want (as long as it isnt a human rights issue) The fact is these decorations are still being used so someone isnt enforcing. I dont care one way or the other. I dont do it and somehow I manage to not look at them walking past. unless I want to. Look at the fish on the carpet. NCL does have rules against fire hazards such as small appliances which they do enforce. Maybe there was an incident somewhere sometime where people were posting things on their door like political stickers (just one example) and that caused some problem, maybe even fights in the corridors lol. If NCL doesnt want door decorations they need to enforce it like they manage to enforce many other rules without problems. ANd the Captain has a lot more to worry about than this.
  16. I bought a bunch of 1/2 yard pieces with Alaskan themes- Sled Dogs, Sasquatch etc. Dont know what I am going to do with them yet but they sure are cute. I dont quilt lol.
  17. that's what I meant. People DO get shoved onto the tracks in front of trains but havent heard of it happening to someone being thrown into traffic. That must have been horrifying. Being in a NYC subway is horrifying (some cities it is an ok experience) and I make sure I stand way back from the edge
  18. Agree, I wouldnt walk it if I had bags plural. And I wouldnt mind spending $10. I think one of my first questions was is a cab really $11-14 because I find that hard to believe but that's what Rome2Rio has. This is (one) reason why there is Uber. A lot of people have learned not to believe an estimate like that from experience
  19. The reason I havent seen those is because I dont normally travel from Portland Maine to New York by plane If I go anywhere near NY by air its a connecting flight in which case I opt for Newark. I cant comment on LGA in that instance because I havent been there in at least 40 years. You'll know how long ago it was because I was traveling with 2 small children and they actually allowed my husband to come on board to help me get them situated. Then he got off the plane. But I have been to JFK more recently and I still say best avoided if possible. I do know where LGA is located as well as JFK and still say its a lot easier to come from EWR into Manhattan and from someone's comment that classifies me as "savvy" lol Its easier for me as I dont know anything about Queens and Brooklyn but I Newark and that area of NJ well.
  20. probably is. I havent heard stories of people being shoved into the street in the path of an uncoming car.
  21. Ok my first thought after reading your comment was "was that smart A$$ comment really necessary?" Then I read some other comments made by you and I sense that is your sense of humor. Careful- words wthout visuals can get you in trouble. I would like to add that plenty of people grouse about a lot of things that I consider a waste of my time but I dont take a chance of insulting them. Just scroll on by. Also, the problems with NCL website is a lot worse than "lackluster". Lackluster I could deal with. I got better things to do with my time than watching circles dancing on my screen forever. But...I want to cruise so....
  22. must be the same magnet I got from the store in Skagway? Great quilting materials
  23. yeah, I did think of that. I dont immediately think of all the horrible things that can happen to me but they eventually do sink in.
