  1. Ugh, this is not very good for two people who are not closely related. The only sink is outside of the toilet and shower. Some people dont like to be on display brushing their teeth for example. I guess the account I read of a family inside cabin was in another ship. I knew the regular inside cabins on the Epic was like this one in the video. I'm thinking for me and my son in law as travel partners this would not work. I'm not even crazy about sharing it with my sister in law. It is meant for two people (i cant imagine it with guests 3 and 4) who dont care about privacy. I guess we will just have to spend more and get two inside cabins or even studios.
  2. Does anyone know what the Family Inside cabins on the Epic are like? The description has "separate bathrooms". Are they referring to the odd arrangement of the bathroom on the Epic inside cabins? Toilet separate from shower? I read someone's review at one time and I thought the person wrote that there was an area in the family inside that the 3rd and 4th person could stay in which would give person 1 and 2 more privacy. Is anyone familiar with this? I'm wondering if sharing a family inside with another non-spouse adult would give each person a little more room and possibly privacy
  3. Good idea. I think the Museum of Flight would be very interesting. does anyone know what the transfer and Port Valet cost?
  4. The last time I used the C word (innocently) I was banished for 24 hours
  5. This is what we have decided to do but it can be tweaked. We are not extremely frugal but also dont have a lot of money for extreme comfort. We will be staying at a hotel near the airport and use the airport shuttle to the hotel. The next day we will take the hotel shuttle service to the light rail station that goes to about 1 mile from Pier 66. At that point we plan to get an Uber. This should save about $40 and its possible that we could reassess as the time gets closer. I enjoy taking public transportation with minimal luggage. It looks like the Cruise transfer with the Port Valet service is the way to go back to the airport. I plan to do research to see if there is anything else that is feasible as my flight does not leave until almost midnight so I have lots of time. I may also splurge and get a hotel room for the day and evening.
  6. I always forget to do that also!
  7. I am booked for the 10/22-29 cruise to Alaska on the Encore. Can anyone advise the easiest transfers from airport to hotel to cruise port?
  8. I know, but for some reason I cant remember to do it. In fact, it should be done regularly. And in this case, it didnt solve all problems with the website but some of them.
  9. The yellow banner across the website has "70% off 2nd passenger". Even though clearing my cache did help (I dont know why I can never remember to do that, I accept cookies right and left) this inconsistency is still assinine. One time they call it 70% off, the next time 35%
  10. actually no, I havent. I will do that. I bet that will make a difference. Thank you.
  11. Anyone having trouble with the website? I seem to get a different price every single time I make a fake booking. Then it remembers and wont let me start over. I get the button "keep this" and when I click on it I go nowhere. Half the time only 2 of my Cruise First certificates show. I do log out and log in, no difference. Even when I am logged out it remembers and I get the "keep this" if its a cruise i've looked at. I also noticed that the Promo changed this am and says 70% off 2nd passenger but when you try to book it still has 35% off all cruises. Makes you wonder if these people know what they are doing.
  12. I left a note not to bother with the beds but I agree, if you have pull downs you do need help with that. I just asked that trash be removed and towels checked. I'd rather they not come in and see what a slob I am.
  13. I remember Agnes in June 1973 Northeastern Pennsylvania got terrible flooding. I lived next door in Jersey.
  14. We liked La Cucina on the Joy. I wanted Ocean Blue but we werent aware we could reserve before we sailed and when we embarked many of the specialty dining options were filled. So we "settled" for La Cucina because the open slot was a time we preferred We were pleased. It was a nice change but we found that the MDRs were fine.
  15. The Sun had a long panama cruise this past Spring. I had just done the Mexican cruise and wished I could have gone on this Panama Cruise. I think it might even have been 21 days and it was not that expensive. I havent seen a cruise with the Sun since then. my idea of heaven is a balcony cabin at time of year where I could enjoy it
  16. so leaving your curtain open after dark is only a problem (for the bridge) if you have lights on
  17. Definitely is an individual thing. You were a group, I was with one other person. If I got a server like you describe here and then found a good one, I'd want to keep the good one too. I really doubt that server will last long There's a wide range of styles and abilities between the above server and Daisy. I cant even remember the last time I had a server I noticed I wasnt pleased with. I'm sure only 2 in the party vs a group makes a big difference. with a group its important that the server be skilled. One thing I have experienced though when I dine alone. I get a weird feeling as if the server feels like I am an oddity, dining alone. I'm sure, in everyday dining experiences, it has a lot to do with the tip they are anticipating. I only ate one meal alone in the main dining room on the ship. I got a little bit of the weird feeling. If I had the same server every night (not by request, just the way it worked) I would feel that I should tip extra. A strange thing happened when I was on the QM2. I had an assigned table for the evening meal but ate anywhere for the other 2. I was assigned to a table with a group of 8 people, males and females, all single. It was really interesting. We had the same waiter for the entire voyage. When it came to the last night he was nowhere to be found at the end of the meal. I made a mental note that if I am in this situation again I will tip on the next to the last night.
  18. Ok. The pictures on the website show the window over the head of the bed.
  19. Is all of this description for the *Family* Oceanview on the Joy, deck 10 forward? If so, is the Family Oceanview the only one that has the window at the side of the bed? The ones to the side of the Family Oceanview seem to all have the window over the head of the bed
  20. That is what my travel partner had on a recent cruise. I had my passport. We were checking in and he was told "that's fine but if anything happens to you in Mexico you wont be allowed to fly home" He wasnt too worried because he lived in California
  21. I'm sure the OP will appreciate your understanding. I have to admit he set himself up for criticism based on the rude comments that I have received as well as others have received, on these forums so that doesnt surprise me. You're reading into his words. He didnt say he wanted a tourist experience. He didnt know *why* he had this urge. I'm sure he didnt really think he was insane.
