Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. If the excursion you want has a waiting list, register all of the people who want this excursion on the waiting list. I was told by a concierge that if they have enough people to fill a bus, they will request one more bus from the vendor. Then it depends if the excursion vendor can accomodate.
  2. We did AUS and NZ visas this past January and the process was really simple. We received them within 1h of submitting the requests. One of them (can't remember which country) is with an app that you install on your cell phone. The app reads the microchip from your passport and loads/validates the information in your request. We had the 601 for AUS and we did not do a medical exam. Back then we still had to do Covid tests. Enjoy your cruise!
  3. On September 17 (2 days before sailing), I received an email saying my offer was not accepted.

  5. Evensong is the service we attended. With the boys choir it was wonderfull.
  6. Westminster abbey used to have a service at 5pm every day. There is no cost to go in the abbey for the service. You do not get a guided tour but you still go inside the abbey and there is no cost... 🙂
  7. @schmoopie17 For our itinerary it was only the 4 days in Spain. All other Europe stops did not charge the tax on alcohol. But as others have said, on average, it is less than 1$ / drink. Not a big deal if you consider all expenses for the cruise.
  8. We cruised on the Escape for the transatlantic back in April. We had the premium beverage package. We had to pay taxes while docked in New York. We had for 4 days in a row ports of call in Spain and had to pay taxes while in port AND while sailing in Spanish waters. That was a twist that even the staff wasn't fully aware of. By the 4th day in Spain, the Freestyle Daily had a mention about it: "Please be reminded that 10% tax will be added on food and beverage items while we are in Spanish water (up to 12 nautical miles)" We did not have any specialty restaurants booked while we were sailing in Spain so I cannot answer regarding the tax on food.
  9. The roll call is not "rolling" a lot so not a big choice from that perspective. We also have some ports that have a very short visit (4h) so would prefer a ship excursion "just in case". I will continue checking as you advised, never know what could happen. thanks
  10. We will be cruising Celebrity for the 1st time in September. Some of the shore excursions we like mention they are “sold out”. Does that mean they are “really” sold out or only the portion available to book before the cruise is sold out and therefore I could book once on the ship? Thank you for your wisdom.
  11. Word of caution... Ships currently sailing in Europe do not show up on the CDC report. I have not found yet where they could be listed or the equivalent of the CDC for Europe
  12. I just completed a TA last month. We had to pay taxes when docked in the US and while docked OR sailing in Spain waters.
