  1. Hope this will be some help for. You can either book tickets on the day or pre-book through the website. We took a chance on the weather and pre-booked. It's a pretty straightforward process. It isn't exactly cheap, but we thought for the views and experience it was worth it. https://www.oldencruise.com/shore-excursions/loen-skylift-including-transfer/
  2. Just had a look on the cruise ship schedule for Southampton and it is still showing as Ocean for the departure and QEII terminal for arrival. Have a great time
  3. Was on this cruise and had a really great time. Sky Princess is a lovely ship and well maintained, our cabin steward was as is always the case, brilliant, so friendly and obliging. The only things I find slightly disappointing about the layout of the ship are: Good Spirits At Sea - very small when compared to how popular it is, much bigger on Regal. Take 5 - had the usual crowds of passengers coming through from the Theatre. Only had a couple of problems with Ocean Now, one order never turned up and a couple took an age to deliver, but apart from that not too bad. MDRs and standard of food both excellent, never had to wait long to get a table, same with Alfredos. The buffet had a good selection of food although got pretty crowded at times. Norway has some stunning scenery and I thought going at this time of year was about the right time to still see snow, and we were blessed with some fantastic views made all the better by the weather. Took the Loen Skylift at Olden, so glad we did, for me it's a must do if only for the views at the top. My wife and son did the Walking With Llamas excursion and absolutely loved it, even if Carlos (their Llama kept blowing in her ear). Had already been to Alesund and Stavanger, but still did not disappoint this time around, especially the Ocean Aquarium at Alesund. Not too disappointed at missing Haugesand as the alternative scenic cruise through the fjord was so beautiful. All in all it was a fantastic time and one of our best holidays.
  4. My procedure was originally due in March, which would have given 5 weeks before the cruise. This, however, was postponed due to the fact that several years ago I contracted the MRSA bug and I couldn't have the op until I had two clear tests at least 6 days apart, the date I was given after getting the all clear was 9 May. I never even factored in the possibility of getting COVID.
  5. The annoying thing is that I was due to go into hospital on Thursday to get my Pacemaker changed, this has now been put back for a few weeks.
  6. Got back on Sunday from a great cruise on Sky to the Norwegian fjords. Felt as if I was coming down with a cold on the Sunday, did a test on Monday and came back negative, tested again today as I was not feeling any better and the result has come back positive this time. I must admit I did hear several passengers coughing quite a bit, plus the usual Buffet users going through without washing or sanitising their hands
  7. I remember one cruise around the British Isles. I had forgotten it was a formal night and arrived at the MDR in jeans, casual shirt and jumper. The table next to us was a party of 6 all the men dressed in tuxedos, bow ties etc; and the women in evening dresses in fact a large majority of the dining room were in full fig or suits and ties. I must admit to feeling quite conspicuous that evening.
  8. Try and get onboard as early as possible, then find a seat in the Piazza, watch the safety video on my phone whilst relaxing with a bottle of Peroni and a tasty snack from the IC, after that report to our Muster Station Finally find our stateroom for a quick unpack, have a chat with our steward and then the cruise fun starts.
  9. Travelling at the end of April and the full events schedule for each day has been visible for about 2 weeks
  10. Have had no problem booking meals in the MDR for out forthcoming cruise on Sky. Booked for myself and wife + two other guests on a separate booking. Initially booked dining in Soliel dining room, but have now changed it to Cielo dining room for all meals without any problem at all.
  11. Still have both old and new apps on my phone atm as a belts and braces job. Just booked a cruise for October this year and it shows on the new app, together with our cruise in April and all our previous ones.
  12. Going on a cruise to the Nowwgian Fjords at the end of April. I wonder if anybody has been up there at that time year and can say what the temperature is like at that time of year. The most Northerly that we will be going is Alesund. We previously went to the Fjords in late August and had several days of temperatures in the high 20s and few with the inevitable rain. I should imagine that end of April will be several degrees colder. Thanks for any info.
  13. We have always booked balcony cabins, as we like to spend a lot of cabin time on the balcony especially if there is lovely scenery (eg; Fjords). We have recently considered inside cabins particularly if it is a winter cruise but not sure if I would like the claustrophobic feeling of an inside cabin

  15. Yes,, the total package is free upgrade from Plus to Premium, up to 30% off certain cruises and £50pp deposit. Valid, I think for bookings made by 5th March
  16. Downloaded tge new app a few days ago and must admit I quite like the layout. All my details and info from the old app seems to have transferred across quite seamlessly. Still going to keep the old app on my phone until its no longer usable.
  17. There is a good YouTube channel called Travel Blog Jamie where he reviews, amongst other things, several pre-cruise hotels in Southampton.
  18. Not sailing until end of April next year and I've booked all our MDR meals a few weeks ago on the App.
  19. I normally watch on the App via my phone in the Piazza whilst enjoying my first drink of the cruise. You should be able to see where your muster station is before the cruise by looking on the Ocean Ready app.¹
  20. We were on Sky in April and on the Plus package. My wife had a gelato, a single scoop I think, and no charge was ever made for it
  21. Apart from the smell of stale tobacco, I always thought that smoking in your cabin or balcony was considered a fire risk
  22. That is very sad news for me and the DW, as it was by far our favourite venue, and as we don't use the casino at all it just represents a loss of an excellent venue. We were on Sky in April this year, and Take 5 was pretty packed all evening. As somebody else has said I would probably reconsider my future cruising options.
  23. Yes, really disappointed that Geraingerfjord has been cancelled on our cruise next April, it was one of the places that I was mostly looking forward to. Although Alesund is a lovely place we've already been there and it doesn't really make up for this loss of location
  24. We are booked for a Fjords cruise in April 2024 and Geraingerfjord/Gerainger was part of the itinerary. Unfortunately I had an email from Princess to say that due to road closures in the area at that time the stop there has been cancelled. I'm not certain how long the road closures will be for, but I believe that Geraingerfjord is a regular stopping point for Princess
