  1. That room service menu is the same as we had on our 12/23 Riviera cruise in a regular veranda steerage cabin.  The filet was actually quite nice.  The wine list is also the same as what we had.

As mentioned, the room service breakfast options have been expanded for all cabin types now to include hot items (I wish I had a photo of the breakfast menu they left every evening).  We did the breakfast several times, and everything was delicious.  The fruit is just a small bowl of diced fresh fruit, not the large pieces, but the omelettes were great and the pastries were good.  I was able to request my favorite pain chocolate by adding the word "chocolate" next to the croissant selection, so they will take requests within reason.  I still had to make a quick trip out to Baristas if I wanted a *good* latte, but the coffee was certainly serviceable.

Biggest issue I had with the room service was getting them to pick up the tray - sometimes it took them a couple of hours to get to it (had to place a reminder call), and since we can't place the trays in the hall, you're stuck with the leftovers until they make it around to pick up the tray.

We are changing our  O Life choice from drink package to onboard ship credit for April, 2022 cruise. Have always chosen drink package, have upgraded to better package 50% of the time. I am not much of a wine or beer drinker, always prefer whiskey, DH claims that it doesn’t matter to him, although it is great to have drink package, esp. when the servers learn what you drink. Can anyone support not taking the beverage package?

If only one of you drinks, of if one is a very light drinker, then the bev package is not a good choice through O Life.  Better to just purchase onboard for the one drinker, and buy the non/light drinker drinks by the glass if desired.

I could agree with you except that it’s primarily the issue of “no hats allowed at dinner in the GDR or Specialty Restaurants.” I could care less about any other public space.

Maybe there is another dress code, but I don't see anything about that, unless this is some kind of cowboy baseball cap. (https://oceaniacruises.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005474533-Is-there-a-dress-code- )

    IS THERE A DRESS CODE?

Recommended on board clothing is resort or country club casual. For evening dining, elegant casual resort wear is suggested. We request that casual jeans, shorts, t-shirts, baseball caps, or tennis shoes not be worn in the restaurants after 6 PM. Baseball caps may be worn in the Terrace Café after 6 PM.

  4. You may be able to use WiFi calling on your phone - it depends on if it is enabled.  It may vary by phone, but for me, I go to settings...connections and there is a "Wi-Fi Calling" switch directly below "Wi-Fi".  If you have that, once you are on board, go to airplane mode, then enable Wi-Fi just like you would normally.  If you have the Wi-Fi Calling switch on, you can call and text with no charges.  I was able to do this on my recent Riviera cruise - texts were slow and the voice was spotty but it worked.  What I don't recall for sure is if I was only able to do it when logged onto our streaming-enabled account, or if it worked on our "normal" free Oceania account.

Regarding adding a second WiFi account, I had a pleasant surprise when I went to upgrade our single account to "streaming", which is normally a $10/day charge.  I was under the impression that we would still have only one account, but they actually created a 2nd account and added the streaming to that, leaving the original included account, but only charged $10/day (so no charge for the second account).  I don't know if that was a mistake or just a nice gesture on the part of the staffer at the internet cafe.  This was a couple of days into the cruise (12/23 sailing, so this was recent).

I hear you!  My expectations were so low they have already been exceeded.  It is a trip though in more ways than one!

I just hope they are on "Island time" when they start banging on those containers in the morning!

Expectation is the thief of joy.

Tell those guys to take an extra coffee break!  At least it's not a 24-hour workplace.

    Yep applause......unreal.

Grenada gone..... St Vincent gone (most likely) due to no tests that they require and Captain said we leave at 7pm tomorrow.  Currents says we leave at 7pm on the front page and 11 pm on the inside daily schedule tomorrow for St. Vincent? Reception just told me the 11pm "Sailaway" to St Vincent is a Bar on the Ship?  You can't make this sh** up!

We will be parked here 30 plus hours from when we got here this morning because I'm not sure we know where we are going next.

We are on day 17 of 24 as we head towards who knows where......

Taking in the beautiful views LOL.  For those about to cruise expect the unexpected.

Funny thing is I knew this would be a trip to try to pull 24 days off during this surge.......and it has been. From a quarantining next door neighbor to a complete trip change to now this leg which is starting to rock and roll with its own flavor with the entertainment regulars impacted to being unexpectedly parked here. As for the Crew God bless them they just keep smiling and delivering. I bid you goodnight with this beautiful view. Day 7 of this leg of our cruise is in the books.....halfway done.

Thank you the rock and roll bothers me more than engine vibration. We are planning to take the cruise no matter if the entertainment is lacking or they skip ports. Just hope O does not  cancel.

Good plan - as long as you go in with the expectation to "expect the unexpected", you'll have a great time.  We have no regrets about our trip.  Hope they keep things rolling, er, sailing, for you 🙂

Can someone tell me about cabin #9135? We are on the February 19 cruise. I think it is towards the aft. Hopefully it will not be too much rock and roll.

We were in 8131 on the 12/23 cruise, which is almost directly below 9135.  I would expect a lot of engine vibration when underway, but the rock and roll was no problem.

Tuesday the CDC added 22 countries to its Level 4/Do Not Visit list including Grenada, St. Kitts and St. Lucia. That may be why you are staying in Barbados. Keep fingers crossed for the latter two.

Barbados has been a level 4 for some time (even during our cruise).  I don't think the port cancellation is related to the CDC recommendations, but tied to the ports actively denying ships - theoretically based on C positivity rates.

I see on the current list that Sint Maarten is now a level 4 - they were still a level 2 on 1/1 when we visited.

Now it begins:  Captain just announced that we aren't going to Grenada tomorrow, and they are reconfirming all following stops with the local authorities.  No mention of the big C word relating to onboard conditions.  Good news:  instead of sailing in circles tomorrow, we will stay in Barbados overnight and until 7 pm tomorrow and passengers can leave the ship to visit the island.

Grenada gave us the stiff arm on our 12/23 cruise also - they seem to be very sensitive to C numbers compared to Barbados and St. Maarten.  Ironic that the Barbados testing that was required for us didn't affect our stop in Barbados, but cancelled Grenada, Antigua, and Curacao.  Thanks, Barbados.

What a difference a week makes!  Day 7 Currents out for tomorrow and NONE of the O signature acts on the schedule.

Bellissimo String Quartet, Sync Session, Riviera Show Band and Riviera Production Company are all shut down and not listed.

I am glad we did the Jan. 4 because we saw them all alot!

For those on the 1/28 you should have them all back up and entertaining by then.

I hope the ports hold up for this cruise because it offsets the lack of entertainment.

Clear sailing for you all - no matter what, it could be worse, you could be back on dry land!  I was really craving a Waves burger and a view to the horizon today. 🙂

No custom rolls and I don’t know how anyone could get sushi from Terrace Café during the 5-6 pm ship’s “happy hour” time.

I would assume it's a self-defined happy hour during the beginning of Terrace dinner service, with a later dinner at another venue.

Is there still sushi every night at  the Terrace? Is there a selection of nigiri and rolls? Will they make a custom hand roll? What raw fish is being used?

Sushi and a cocktail for happy hour before going to dinner is my daily routine on Oceania cruises.

Yes - primarily tuna and salmon, with some cooked shrimp.  Nigiri, sashimi, and rolls - the rolls are mostly California, and usually some other special roll.  I don't know about custom rolls, never thought to ask but it didn't look like they were setup to do that at the station.

My very first O cruise was in 10031 and there was a shudder like motion on a regular basis which made me think I would never again go in a forward cabin. Since then, because of upsells I have had cabins way forward and arriving and departing is almost silent. 2 of them were Caribbean and one was in the Med and motion was never an issue.

I do love those back 4 penthouses but there is no question you will know when you are arriving or departing a port

I would be happy with either 7115 or 7008.  If using your balcony a lot, 7008 would allow you more view than 7115 which is tunnel like.

If it was just arrival/departure that would not be a problem - this was a constant anytime we were underway at full speed.  On the adjusted sea days where we were skipping ports and we were moving at a slower speed, it was not really noticeable, but on normal sea days and overnight it was a real problem for me.  This was like running a jackhammer - I found if I kept my head off of the headboard it was (barely) tolerable, but if I was actually touching the headboard it would literally rattle my teeth.

I became quite proficient at making sure none of the glassware was actually touching the walls when on their shelves and putting a shim between the closet doors to keep that from rattling full time.  I never bothered reporting any of that to the staff since I didn't think the captain was going to slow the boat on my account 🙂

  15. We were recently on Riviera in 8131, which is just a little aft of 7115 on the starboard side.  I will say there was what I considered to be a tremendous amount of vibration from the engines at that location, enough that I would never consider booking that far aft in the future.  Possibly 7115 is far enough forward to reduce that, but it is something to consider.  I noticed that judder in Main Dining when seated at that starboard aft location and also all the way up on 12 in Waves, so I don't think it is deck-specific.

5th test in 2 weeks and we both are negative.  I think because of the asymptomatic aspect and the promise of being quarantined it's a relief every time!  Lol

Off to Waves and Spa Terrace!
