  1. Nice

We always rent from Hertz in Divi hotel cheaper than most w insurance, gps, cell phone. Always arrange a pick up and drop off even if not scheduled during regular business hours. Chris there is awesome!

Most car rentals I inquired with work around cruise ship schedule just like Hertz in Divi.

I am glad you find it so funny. That says a lot and now I even understand more!

Um when did I ask for that and why do I need to when I am very familiar with RC? Like I said, I ONLY mention what my experience has been, I don't assume and I don't need to mention anything further than that. I know about all the other accessible cabins but I don't worry about them because we don't want them. I only worry about our needs and since a nice person was making a suggestion for us, I responded pertaining to our experience and our needs!

You did much more than just provide a link!  Enough said.. I'm done with you - you are so creepy!

K- (TravelBug2A) just ignore this controlling person... She/he/it was out of line.. Others have had issues with this person. You are so full of knowledge when it comes to RC especially when traveling with a disabled person one that is confined to a w/c. You have thoroughly helped me so many times and come through for me. Just don't pay any attention to her/him/it - reallyitsmema. By the way, I will be calling you tomorrow as we need HELP on our next cruise.. 🙂 Glad to see you back on here - hope you stay as you are a valuable resource and can help so many others.. 🙂

Hi.  We measured the balcony with our 12' tape...the depth is 57 inches....length was a little more than 13 feet.  Hope this helps.

Bathroom was generous with roll in capacity.  ramps to get out to balcony.

If you need refrigerator for medicine you need to order in advance.  It's about the size of a 6pack cooler.  The "frig" looking thing in the room is just a cooler not a refrigerator.

    Enjoy your cruise...we did.

You are the best! Thank you so much!! I can't wait for our cruise.. Glad you guys had a good time... If you don't mind me asking, what ports did you go to? Thank you again..

This will be your cabin. The balcony is wider than the standard and has no edge to go over when you go out.

Thank you so much for the video.. I really appreciate it and its nice to see what we will have... I apologize for such a late response, but I never received a notification of your post until this morning. Again, thank you

  5. I booked a private tour with them since my son is in a wheelchair and due to his needs... I am a little concerned about the time frame (our ship gets in at 1pm, tour starts at 2pm, 4 hour tour and ship leaves at 8pm). I am thinking this is plenty of time, but if something happens, I am a little concerned.

Thank you everyone for your comments and sharing your experiences. I really appreciate it. Happy Cruising..

Our booking experience was excellent - they did not try to squeeze in the two ruins tour they have available due to the way NCL Epic set up their arrival and departure time; and we followed their recommendation of the Dzibanche Ruins Tour.

Making our way out of market port area was poor, in agreement with an earlier poster -the route is not marked well and the sales people we asked for help from were not forthcoming regarding the route.  I understand they want to make money so did not get mad, but it was frustrating.  If you are new to the area, I recommend leaving 10 to 15 minutes earlier than your anticipated time based on your walking pace.

Dzibanche Tour was fantastic - travelled in a modern air conditioned van (maximum 10 guests) and driver was excellent, especially negotiating the speed bumps and pot holes; Eric, our tour guide (has won the last two years as #1 tour guide for company), is Mayan, was able to welcome everyone in seven or so languages, and more importantly was an informative and friendly host; the ruins themselves were a great experience and we were able to climb one ruin without the big bus tour that followed in the way, and then Eric led us around the site until the big bus tour left and we climbed a second set of ruins without a lot of other tourists around (only six of us on this tour); they also provided pop and water as well as a sandwich lunch.

    thank you so much...

We used Native Choicekart week for the 4 hr Chaccoben Ruins tour. The minibus was a modern air conditioned bus. Driver was Cesar and guide was Hugo. Very good tour with very informative guide. Short stop to buy fresh pineapple on the return trip. Great tour and a bargain compared to the MSC tour. Ken

    thank you so much..

Depends on your definition of strolling distance.  The pier is long enough that they run a trolley to and from.  I honestly can’t remember if there was a WC slot for someone who can’t transfer.  I can, so used it.  I do know there were a couple of cruise employees running people to the end on foot.  Well being pushed in the chairs they use for disembarking....

The fishing village..is that the bit right at the end of the pier with all the shops?  Nice, but very pushy vendors.  I seem to remember some train that ran around the island.  Not sure of the excursion name, but we decided we’d try that next time.

    Thank you

We were in Costa Maya in January and booked an tour with Sage Traveling/Accessible Caribbean Vacations.  Our itinerary included:   Chacchoben Ruins -  Local culture and a visit to Mahahual – lunch included with a private guide/driver .  We were extremely please with this tour.  You can contact -   helen@SageTraveling.com

    Enjoy!!!

Thank you. We looked into them but decided not to go with them.

We went to the ruins with them in December, they were fantastic.  Small group, informative guide, comfortable van.  You need to exit the pier area, go through the door that says no exit, honestly.  The pier people don’t want you leaving to spend money with anyone else.

The cost was half of what the ship was charging to go to the same location for less time with an entire bus full of people.

    Thank you so much.

You seem very ungrateful to someone trying to help. I said 42 square feet. I never saw that mentioned in your post. You can figure it to be somewhere between 9x5 and 10x4.2. I will stop trying to help, you don't seem to appreciate it.

I’m sorry u don’t think I’m appreciating u trying to help. I’m sorry your info has yet to answer what I’m looking for. How is it that square footage would tell me if a certain object wil fit or not? It doesn’t.  Above I mentioned no one knows width and length which is what I’m trying to figure out. I’m sorry u feel that way. One would think that length / width is critical when wanting to put a wheelchair or any other chair object on a balcony. 42 sq feet is everywhere on site and in your booking plus sq footage doesn’t do me any good. The sq footage is also what the CL gives out when u ask. Sq footage tells me nothing about the length or width. It can be many forms of numbers to total it. That does no one any good in a w/c. Either the chair won’t fit or it will so I was asking for the specifics in hopes someone would know approximate size that would help in our situation. Thank you for your info but I’m sorry it doesn’t give me what I’m looking for. And that does not mean I don’t appreciate your help it just means I still don’t have the info I’m needing. It’s a frustrating situation!

What is the size of the balcony? That should tell you if there's enough room. My guess is that you can get it out but not be able to move around too much. We had 7604 last year. My wife was able to get off her wheel chair and walk a couple of steps into the balcony and sit on the chair.

No one knows what the width and length is of the balcony so I can figure it out. I and my TA have been trying to find out but no one can tell us, otherwise I wouldn't be asking the question. :)

I don't know about their ability to handle accessibility issues, but I can say that we used them a couple of years ago for a tour to the Dzibanche ruins and were very pleased.  We wouldn't hesitate to book with them again.

They are able to meet our needs. Thank you.

Did you book native choice for Costa Maya? I have booked them for Feb 14th. If we are going on the same tour we could meet up before heading off the ship and walk together. It's just my husband and I.

    Andrea

That would of been great, Andrea but we aren't going until December. Have a wonderful cruise..

We had a fabulous time on the Carnival Victory (Room 1001) back in December and would happily go again. DH is unable to walk long distances, especially in the cooler parts of the year, so was in a manual wheelchair almost the entire time with no issues. We never had a problem getting an elevator, though a few of them were interesting to navigate (some of the elevators don't go all the way down to the main dining room, so we just hopped down to 6 and worked our way across from there). It was very easy to get to all the fun parts of the ship from there, and it had a drop-down berth for our 13-year-old daughter, who though the entire thing a grand adventure 🙂 There was GOBS of room to maneuver in the stateroom, people around the ship were very helpful and we really had no problems whatsoever.

    Thank you...

I am a quadriplegic travel agent and have been on all those cruise lines. I have had positive accessibility experiences on most with a few exceptions. Where and when were you looking? Having some specific ships would help answer the questions a bit more thoroughly.

    Thank you..

We are sailing on Carnival Freedom (Costa Maya, Roatan, Cozumel) and Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas (Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba).
