  1. The port authority released and article on Oct 7,2013 on the 80 to 85 million dollar addition of port Canaveral to host the largest of cruise vessels holding in excess of 6,000 people. It will include a 185,000 foot terminal, the Cove restaurant and a 1000 vehicle parking garage. Also in the future plans are shops and a beach area to be used by cruisers making port calls. The construction will begin in Jan and be completed in Nov. 2014.

  2. Hi Fellow cruisers. Port authority just confirmed several days ago construction starting on new cruise terminal, to accommodate TWO

NEW MEGA CLASS SHIPS. The terminal will have food area, shopping, and also shows a beach area. The tv news reported the construction has started and should be completed in fall of 2014. We already have Freedom class here so maybe we will be getting a oasis class. In addition to the cruise embarkations, they now have quite a few that makes daily stops doing week for space coast & Disney. Carnival built the last ( pier six ) to house it's larger vessels. 3. I don't think Royal has to worry about keeping up. The new SUNSHINE is the 17 year old Destiny. 100,00 ton. Even with the new refurb its the same cabin areas , low ceiling , old concept. And now moving the Liberty here. They had the Glory its sister here for years before. Losing the newer larger Dream class is a big let down for Carnival customers. The Freedom has nothing to worry about. Bob The Villages Florida:):):)
