  1. Another poster recently stated that when you get to the luggage drop off in Southampton the baggage handlers have spare blanks you can write up and use. Perhaps someone else can confirm/deny this? Others have suggested a change of browser - perhaps to Chrome - sometimes solves this issue too.
  2. I know what you mean, bluemarble. Actually that is really useful identification as I don't have a record of which island it was in 2011 - they all look the same to me!
  3. I have read the Ambassador Brochure as carefully as I can and as far as I have been able to find out, you cannot request a table for 2 at dinner sitting. This is what is putting me off booking with Ambassador because we always have been able to ask for and get a table for 2 at dining with our P&O cruises. Can anyone confirm either way please?
  4. Wine glasses were part of the pre-laid standard table layout on Ventura and Aurora this summer. If you wanted wine you asked the waiter.
  5. Red Leicester I went on a vintage bus a few weeks back, a huge sign at the front said "No Spitting". We digress, but yes, as you say, Times change. Back in the late '40s and early 50's I used to watch St. Albans City F.C. (Clarence Park) and there were no-go areas where "old" men would congregate to spit throughout the whole match. At the time I thought it was disgusting but have since realised that this was an inevitable result of the dominant culture of smoking (you weren't a real man if you didn't smoke), smog (pea-soupers) and the resulting bronchitis of the time. Nowadays it is only footballers who seem to think it is acceptable to spit, and how well they have mastered the art of waiting until the camera has them in close-up before letting fly!
  6. I imagine the Lady Jane Grey would have to do endless 7 nighters to Norway and back from Southampton as more than 9 nights would not be appropriate?
  7. "you have to have strong mussels to open the two doors" love it!
  8. "The house band, Pulse, couldn't play in the late lounge due to " Operational reasons ". P&O must have this mind set that causes them to treat customers as idiots. Having a little chat with one of the entertainment team revealed why." Was the reason Covid?
  9. When you say they are "nothing like" do you mean fewer/different/longer/shorter? What times are you in to Tenerife on the 17th and when do you have to leave the ship for your flight back on March 18th? If these times are different it could explain some of the variations. Also, there is still time for more trips to be added - keep checking.
  10. and 8 minutes later down to 560p!
  11. For information, on Ventura a couple of weeks ago dozens of people were taking drinks into the theatre, and no-one was stopping them, even though everyone was being checked in individually by staff to ensure they had pre-booked the shows. I also noticed that on formal nights many men were dressed informally in the theatre and again nothing was said - I always thought the theatre required formal dress but perhaps this has gone too? No shirt in the buffet was also seen - yuk! (males).
  12. I don't know about them, but I still fondly remember the non-alcoholic "Strawberry Dream Supreme" from many years ago that sadly never returned.
  13. Here is a 2022 article - might be of some use to you? https://www.cruisemummy.co.uk/southampton-cruise-parking/
  14. On our recent Spain and Portugal cruise street maps were being given out free just immediately outside the terminal in many ports, but I appreciate that this is not a guaranteed solution to your issue.
  15. Sorry - never went on deck10 - we were on 12. Covid was never mentioned at any time and although there are reports of some passengers having it when they got off or when they got home, I went to the theatre shows every night and there was only significant coughing on the very last night (10 day cruise). My guess would be that unless there is a renewed outbreak nationally there won't be a quarantined area when you go, and any cases will simply be confined to their cabin - tough if it is inside, but normal service looks like it is being resumed.
  16. The Entertainment Manager had it right when, just before the start of the show on the last night in the theatre, he broadcast the following: "This is a general announcement from the Entertainment Manager: For exercise; For exercise; For exercise. Use the stairs."
  17. "This time next year, Rodney........" Who knows? Seriously though, who knows what the next 12 months might hold for these crazy times we are living in?
  18. On this Ventura cruise, ours was delivered to our cabin on the last night, unsolicited.
  19. Annual rainfall in Bergen is 98 inches. If it isn't raining when you are there, ask for your money back.
  20. We were on this cruise too. My main concern was on disembarkation day. I don't know whether there was an unusually large number of wheel-chair users on this particular cruise, but I really think P&O should have tried harder for them at this time. Many wheelchairs-users require an almost empty lift to accommodate them and their companion. More than a couple of existing passengers and they won't attempt to board the lift. My wife and I decided to struggle down the stairs from Deck 12 to Deck 7 together with our hand-luggage (she is having a knee-replacement operation next month and is pretty bad). As we progressed slowly down the levels, it was disturbing to see on every accomodation floor the whole area in front of the lifts full of wheel-chairs, often two-deep, with their users becoming increasingly distressed as the 4 lifts whizzed by or stopped only to reveal them already crammed full of able-bodied passengers, none of whom appeared prepared to sacrifice their comfortable ride down. It would not have taken more than a couple of crew to be detailed as lift-attendants to reserve and supervise two of the lifts "for wheel-chair-only use" for an hour or so at that critical time on the last morning when all passengers are asked to assemble at specific times in the open rooms on Deck 7. My observations were at the forward lifts - goodness knows what was happening at the normally busier central staircase ones.
  21. If you remember how you accessed the "App" every time you wanted to do something with it on your last cruise, you should find that doing the same routine will work straight away once aboard your up-coming cruise, without the need to get the Help Desk to reinstall it.
  22. Just off Ventura and we used a UK 3 pin adapter with a USB port in the back of it to charge our phones.
  23. Re the thread on here about the problem with pre-booking seats in the Theatre, we have just got off Ventura and received a copy of the "Cruise Log - Notes from the bridge". The first sentence states: "Saturday September 3rd 2022: After a busy turnaround, Ventura departed Southampton with 1,099 crew and 6,949 (sic) guests, together with enough stores to last the duration of the cruise." I wondered why she was rather low in the water and the sea kept lapping into our Level 12 balcony as we crossed the Bay of Biscay!
