  1. We just got of the Sapphire Princess & once again, didn't leave impressed!

There are no TV channels, like ABC, NBC...The TV channels they have, run on a loop. We were watching the same episodes of the Love Boat this last weekend as we saw in Oct.

I ordered wine glasses from room service, and one was filthy with lipstick all over it!

No room service, not even coffee this morning...since is was disembarkation day:(

Miss the piano bar & comedy club:(

We have one more booked for Feb. and then it will be back to the Funships for us! We were on a 100% fare that goes toward a 7 day special, so went ahead and booked as soon as the credits appeared this morning. We had to book with an outside TA, since Princess site was 400.00 more per person for the same category. No matching of other sites with Princess.

I did my share of gambling in the casino & was told I didn't play enough. I would have qualified had I done the same play on Carnival. I usually always get a gift basket & sometimes cash also.

    Miss feeling special...At least on Carnival they call me by name;

We had to ask for robes for our balcony & couldn't be delivered until the 2nd day. They were so small & thin, they were useless!

I am craving warm chocolate melting cake!

Carnival gives you a drink for being repeat guests...Princess doesn't.

Thanks for letting me vent! I wish our next cruise was going to be on a Funship, but we will be back:)

  2. It really surprises me, that we can't watch TV! I'm surprised they choose not to have TV...this is 2014! After this next cruise, We will definitely go back to Carnival. The food was better, the Comedy club & piano bar are some of the things we enjoy on Carnival. I had a filthy wine glass delivered from room service, and I think overall we are fun people & belong on a funship;) We weren't impressed the 1st time or the 2nd. Three & four days with no TV is doable, but 7...???

  3. Does anyone know why Princess doesn't allow access to TV channels, such as ABC, NBC, etc. We just got off a 4 day on Princess Sapphire & could only get looped shows & the same episodes of them that we saw last Oct. Seems crazy that we can't get regular TV. Going again in Feb. for 7 days & wish we could watch some TV!

  4. ok, so don't laugh too hard, this really is the actual recipe used for one of them, it is easy to cut back.

    8 pounds eggplant

    10 oz olive oil

    2 oz chopped garlic

    20 sprigs parsley

    salt/pepper to taste

    1 red onion

    3 red bell pepper

    3 yellow bell pepper

    half gallon milk

    15 garlic cloves

    kosher salt

cut eggplants in half, make criss cross grooves on the flesh, soak overnight in milk

remove from milk and pat dry

soak eggplant in olive oil, add kosher salt, garlic and cook 90 minutes at 280 degrees

let cool, peel and chop eggplant

heat skillet, add olive oil from roasting pan eggplant was in and sauté onion, garlic and eggplant for 5 minutes

cut red/yellow pepper in half, marinate with salt/pepper and oil, roast and de-skin (I did this over a flame on a grill)

chop pepper very fine and mix with eggplant

season with salt/pepper and garnish with parsley, add more oil if needed

First time I made it, it was OK, second time I learned a lot. I peel the eggplant before soaking in milk, that's the only major change. The rest depends on how you cut the recipe. I also don't add any garlic and I found that had no effect at all. I served it with a rosemary bread and it tasted the same.

edit: I meant to add that you really need a sharp knife to cut the pepper and eggplant correctly. Remember that the spread is a very fine dice, if the knife is dull you kind of squish the eggplant and roasted peppers. I did try it in a food processor and it was not at all right. Maybe someone really good with pulse on a food processor can do this just right. So I stick to the manual route.

And yes, it takes forever to make this.

Thank you for taking the time to type all this. I don't think I will be making this between now & Christmas. I think I will roast some finely diced peppers in olive oil, with some seasonings & put it on baguettes & bake;) Merry Christmas

  5. There's two, are you looking for the one that is eggplant based with some peppers in it? I have that one.

I'm not sure...it was the red relish, my husband says;) It definitely had red peppers. We would spread it on the focassia (sp) bread.

  6. I agree, that it's nice to be recognized...I just don't need anymore hats or trevis...have four hats & 6 trevis. Would like a tote in Nov., but doesn't look like it will be til mid month & we sail the 3rd & 10th! But, I don't need 4 totes!!! LOL I'd rather have a drink;)

  7. We are doing a B2B in 3 weeks and switching cabins...didn't even think to not print out luggage tags! Hubby just printed them yesterday...probably could have saved the ink;) Now, if someone would just pack up our stuff & move it...lol

  8. They will be sailing on different days...Hoping Imagination is better than the Inspiration! I have no desire to go on the Inspiration again! We actually booked Princess for a 3 dayer next month...a mini suite for the same price as an inside on the Inspiration:) I know this is a Carnival board, but they're all owned by CCL;)

  9. No double points in a mini-suite unless sailing solo...double points are for those in a full suite.

Question: How many cruise credits can I earn per cruise?

Answer: Most passengers will receive one credit per cruise. Passengers who pay for and sail in a full suite will earn 2 cruise credits; Passengers sailing alone in a cabin and paying the exclusive occupancy fare will earn 2 cruise credits; Passengers who sail alone in a cabin and pay for the exclusive occupancy fare for a full suite will earn 3 cruise credits.

    OK, thanks for clarifying

  10. Another tip (if not covered already):

Many of the lines are starting to become more restrictive on what counts towards your passenger levels: bronze, silver, gold, etc.

Princess is still going by number of trips.

You can really boost your level fast by taking 1, 2, 3 or 4 day trips. In fact this year it was possible to combine a 1 + 3 + 4 = 8 day trip from Seattle to Vancouver to LA to Catalina to LA for about the same price as an 8 - 10 day regular trip as they are all repositioning.

This counted as 3 trips and it wasn't much more to upgrade to a mini suite making it count as 6 trips.

Only thing is Vancouver to LA is a coastal which can have heavier seas than a Caribbean cruise (mind you the Gravol made it fine for us and I get sea sick easily).

We get double cruise credit for booking our Mini suite? We have a 3 day coming up in Oct...Our 1st Princess Shelly

  11. The fine print in post above makes it sound as if it may not be combined with any other OBC already received from NCL. (For instance, the HSN letter for $100 OBC.)

I'm not familiar about the HSN letter...I haven't cruised NCL much in the last 5 years, since sailings from West coast are almost non-existent. We recently started cruising from East coast, due to lack of ships & ports here.

  12. I'm guessing that I can't use it on our Breakaway sailing next month since it's a comped cabin through the casino... right?

Such "technicalities" have not been an issue with RCL or CCL stock.

    Tom

I wouldn't complain about the $100 stock credit, if I was getting a free cruise...but, unless you won BIG...it's probably not;) I never get more than chocolate covered strawberries & a photo coupon on Carnival;(

  13. We've owned RCL and CCL for years and have reaped several thousand of OBCs as stockholders. Have a couple NCL cruises booked so looked into a quick purchase of NCLH stock.

    Not.

Fundamentals are less than stellar, starting with an enormous debt load that is scheduled to increase with new inventory. Very few "buy" recommendations and lots of less than glowing analyst's reports. We would be the last ones to take analysts' advice too seriously, but this one we will mark a big "wait and see," especially with a measly $100 OBC across the board that has no combinability.

I'm not the stock person in our household, hubby is but he's working. Does it have to be NCLH? I was looking @ NCL Industries.

  14. Out of 21 Carnival cruises there's a few that stand out to me.

Ron Pass, piano bar...no longer going to be playing on Carnival.

Douglas Trask, guitar player & singer...was on the Spirit & presently on the Legend! He always remembered Us & Our song!

Tommy Green Jr., Guitar player & singer...Was on one of our Splendor cruises. He was a guest on our Inspiration cruise last month & played during the Welcome Aboard show.

  15. I'm sure somewhere in 69 pages of info there is an answer...Unfortunately, I'd probably miss the ship if I had to read them all before we sail. We just booked today to add a cruise to HMC & would like to know...

Are there wave runner rentals? If so...prices?

    Hobie cat?...

I see the Carnival excursions, but are there any other type of rentals...other than cabana (sold out), umbrella, or bike(too much work)? Thanks
