1. We just came back from AI six nights in Cancun at #2 adult only resort that had unbelievable service. We had a great time and the best part, our 2k with air fare final bill never went up. That AI made cruising look super expensive when you have to add in air and drinks. I think now that were empty nesters we will be doing mostly AI's

  2. We have four vacation planned right now only two of them are with carnival, one cruise this year and one next year. Were doing Cancun AI in April and Celiberity with the 123 package this fall. I've cut Carnival back to one cruise a year, thats all I can take of them right now.

Were really loving Celiberity with drink package and no limits on the drinks..... also really love the fact there are no MUTS....I can't stand those things.......Carnival misuses that thing

  3. I totally empathize with the original poster, I have had my husband miss a cruise for medical issues. That being said...It does annoy me that the safeguard of purchasing travel insurance becomes mute if the cruise line caves and refunds the cruise cost whether in the form of money or credit. Unless the refund ALWAYS occurs consumers are being treated unfairly when they DO purchase insurance. And, irregardless of the compelling reason for not sailing, this is one issue where I don't think the traveler is ever right.

How's it mute....trip insurance covers a lot more than just cancelations.

I would think they would work with them if they have a bonafide reason ......

  4. I have to say that I am in shock that she's not getting Guys and Blue Iguana Cantina, or the Big Screen on the Lido.

Pride is her sister ship and got all of that.

    Why not Miracle?:confused::confused:

Agree, bummer Carnival burgers are pitiful and I don't even bother eating them.... Guys is the best part of the upgrades.....was excited about Miracle and Tampa until I heard this.....after the Victory I will only sail on Carnival ships that have the full upgrades.....

  5. As you can see by my tag line, about 45 days ago, next one coming up in 60 days. Haven't tried Celebrity myself yet but I can guarantee you they don't throw in the drink package on an inside cabin. Balcony or suite, probably, inside no way. Hoping you get caught so you'll stop breaking Carnival rules. Have a great/dry cruise!

On the one we have booked for the fall we did have to do ocean view for a little more but still hundreds cheaper than CC with a drink package. Last spring we did Connie and after a price drop and upgrade to Balcony we went for 389 each with drink package prepaid gratuities and onboard credit it was only five nights but it was a deal.

  6. Bartender?

    When was your last cruise?

We got caught the for the first time last year on the Freedom.........Now we just try and cruise Celebrity on the cruises where they throw in the drink package.........the saving are well worth it........we were looking for a long weekend getaway and had to chose a the Victory next month.......I expect to get caught again......I was going to buy the bottle for the room until I saw the prices......If I dont get it on this will be our last on Carnival......

  7. Is it worth purchasing the Cheers! package in your opinion? I will be the only person over 21 in my cabin and husband will be in another cabin with the guys. So we thought we would be able to share it without having to purchase two. Thoughts? Were you happy your purchased it?

If 15 drinks can get you both through a day then DO IT. They aren't watching because they don't care... you get 15 drinks a day and your cutoff......Id be embarrassed for Carnival if I ever saw them calling someone out on that when there is a drink limit.

  8. Can someone tell me, who has tried BOTH burgers, how Guys Burgers are different from the regular grill burgers on the non-2.0 ships OTHER THAN the toppings? (And yes I know about the fries difference)

I've had Guys but not a regular one. Our ship has been changed next spring break and we will now be on a non-2.0 ship. I could personally care less about the burger difference but my dh really liked the Guys.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.....the other ones are barley edible...they appear and taste frozen ....I don’t understand why they don’t just change the pattie on non 2.0 ships....

  9.
Sounds like a fun cruise......who are you punishing ? You or Carnival..............
Good point!!!! The cost of our upcoming cruise dropped a few hundred each for a lower category.....we called we tried......it is what it is.... not even going to think about it........DW and I will only book Carnival 30 days from departure from now on.......

  10. No, you don't need a prayer. You will have a fabulous time on your cruise. Don't let this affect you negatively - as you can see, most people on this board love RCI. If something comes up, you'll deal with it. Attitude is almost always everything. :);)

    Have fun.

I would say if you have any problem at all don't act like a jerk to customer service and be rude. That's probably your best bet. But you seem to be a seasoned cruiser so I would think you value customer service employees. I would also say check your cabin picture if you are expecting a sofa bed apparently lol!

And this is posted by someone who would be happy to try any line that is geared towards fun :D

No worries ....I don’t and won't let too much spoil my HOOLIDAY....

DW & I are going alone on this one so hopefully we meet some fun people to keep us laughing and if I have customer service encounter, I'll just give him a piece of my laugh, right in his face:D.......it’s only five nights that DW and I may have to share a fold-out:eek:

  11. Mr Sanchos is great for an active day, nachicom is wonderful ( my choice between the two - due to parasailing, scuba, snorkel excursions, available right there). This year we went to Cozumel Palace hotel, an all inclusive resort for a day, great time and will be my preference from now on. A little more money, but you get what you pay for.

Been to Paradise Beach several times Sancho’s twice and were going back to Sancho's again off Visions. It’s a fun place just be careful of their drinks....the don’t skimp on the alcohol.

  12. I have been on 3 cruises now 2 with Carnival & 1 with Royal Caribbean. The only reason I went with Royal Caribbean was due to the destination, we were going to Alaska from Vancouver to Seward and then we were doing land ourselves for a week and Carnival didn't offer that itinerary. My cruise started off bad the moment we walked into our room and got worse. I booked that cruise the very first day it was available and I called to make sure I was getting the room I wanted....I explained that it would be 3 adults my Mom, hubby & myself & that we needed the 2 beds put together and the SOFA bed with a balcony & I was assured that my room would be exactly what I was wanting. I spoke with Royal Caribbean representatives many times for different questions and they always reviewed what my reservation was. So I was very surprised to walk into my room and see the big bed and a chair.....so I go to the guest services desk and I am told nothing could be done until an hour or so after we set sail. REALLY???? So I explained in detail that I booked this the 1st day it was offered and what I was promised so he goes and looks and the computer and a book with a bad attitude like I was asking for him to actually do something and tells me that the other bed was in the ceiling and our cabin steward would drop it down and separate the other bed so we would all have a bed. I was very upset at this point & explained that we were all adults and we were not sleeping in a bed from the ceiling & the idiot actually said then he can try to fit a cot in there. I said NO that is not what we were promised and not what we paid for and he simply shrugs his shoulders and tells me to come back an hour or so after we set sail. So I go tell my Mom & hubby & told them I was going to get on the website to try to get something done. While I was on the computer my Mom went down & tried to talk to them since I was so upset she thought I might have been rude and that was why I wasn't getting any help & she came back ticked off & said that there was several people complaining about their rooms being wrong too. So when I finished emailing Royal Caribbean a woman (another cruiser) asked me what was wrong so I told her and she told me the chair made a bed and how to do it....so I got better customer service from another guest. I was at guest services another time getting some pamphlets and I asked the guy which side of the ship would we see the most land and his response was "you will only see land when we port the rest of the time we will be in open waters" REALLY??? I have never been on an Alaskan cruise and knew that was wrong. We had a couple other issues with them and the people at guest services (they are called employees but none of the new the answers to anything so the guests on the ship could have done a better job) they always gave us the wrong info or just said I don't know and pretty much moved to the next guest. Our room steward Jeff and our waiter Rajesh and waitress Marian were the only employees we really enjoyed and had any confidence in at all. The some of the food may have been a little better but there was not as much variety offered and on elegant nights on the Carnival you got steak & lobster but on Royal Caribbean you had to pay extra for that & the desserts were way better on Carnival. Now lets talk about entertainment or lack there of....Carnival beats Royal Caribbean a million to one blind folded and hands tied behind their back. Some shows were soooo bad that we had to leave and one show the singing was soooo horrible it really did hurt my ears it was worse than nails across the chalk board, costumes were very generic and at times didn't even go with what was going on. We missed the comedy club every night like Carnival has. They had 3 so called comedians that I really felt sorry for because it was like dead silence and then someone would give them a fake pity laugh and one looked like he was 80 years old and drunk most the time I couldn't understand half of what he was saying and what I did understand didn't make any sense. If it wasn't for the spa I don't think we would have enjoyed much of the cruise (but I had to pay extra for the use of the thermal suite which it was ok but it wasn't all that). I did like the adults only pool and Jacuzzi that was open 24 hours but a lot of times there were kids and teens in there too. I never take naps unless I am sick but I think I took more naps on this cruise than I have my whole life just because there was nothing to do if you wasn't a drinker. My favorite entertainment was to go out where the glass elevators are and watch the drunks trying to dance in the center....sad huh? So yeah I could keep going but I am just going to say that from now on we will be sticking with Carnival unless I have my heart set on a destination that they don't go too and then I will think long and hard about that!!! Oh and 1 final thing I still haven't heard anything from Royal Caribbean about the poor customer service. I have sent 2 emails and took 2 surveys and all I have received is on of the surveys asking about how my complaint was handled....I was honest and told them is wasn't as of that date and still nothing. Now this may be just 1 cruise or a bad crew but first impressions are everything and theirs was a horrible first impression on all of us. I have even asked my hubby & Mom and they say the same things as me and my husband told me he will never go on any cruise with RC again I would have to go by myself lol and my hubby is very easy going and doesn't get upset hardly ever and he was not pleased at all.

    I need a prayer :) WHAT DID I DO

    SEE BELOW

  13. I keep trying to leave Carnival and when I try something diffrent I keep seeing a lot of what Carnival does right. I really enjoyed Celiberty this past spring however the night life was dull and on Carnival you can't get it all in and the next thing you know it 4am and your still up......I just hate Carnival mostly because of the load scream TV playing all day long on sea days.....you cant even have a conversation when its on........

  14. FYI - I just returned from a 5 night Vision cruise to Roatan and Cozumel. The captain decided not to dock in Cozumel because the currents were too strong and the propellers on Vision couldn't handle it. We were so close - saw Oasis and a Carnival ship docked there.

The cruise was very disappointing. The pools on this ship are very small, and they were wall to wall people. The gym is also very small - only 6 treadmills. The Windjammer closed at 3 everyday and reopened at 6:30 pm, so the only other place to eat during those times was Park Cafe (with long lines) or Ben & Jerry's.

I tried Giovanni's, Chops and Izumi, which were all very good. I found the main dining room to be loud and chaotic. I had a great stateroom (8588, corner aft).

I knew the ship was small when I booked it (I've been on Enchantment before), however, I booked this cruise for the itinerary. I ended up on a 5 day cruise with one port of call. I'll never book this class of ship again.

We were on the same cruise & agree with all your observations. It was our first time on Royal Caribbean and disappointed we could not make Cozumel either was was traveling with our family. I never thought about a ship not having enough propulsion to be able to pull along dockside, so learned something new.

While I will say the food was good in all the places we dined, along with Giovanni's dinner we had was excellent, some of the times they pick to close places like Windjammers was unusual.

We are not sure what we will try next time.

We booked Visions for July and am a little concerned with slow bar service.

The reviews I'm reading say most bars have only one bar tender to serve walk-ups and the waiters and it takes 30-45 minutes for a drink. I even read one where the people on the pool deck would have to go in to casino bar for a drink.

Just wondering what you noticed and if its been corrected yet.
