  1. I was on Princess;( I am not new to cruising. I have about 40 cruises in my history. Many others than the ones listed. I have sailed Carnival, NCL, RCCL & recently Princess. I wouldn't choose to sail on Princess again, if it wasn't for the deal we got on the last one. I have never seen a piano bar on the two ships I've been on. I don't find it to be an upgrade to sail Princess. Makes me wonder how they can afford to give 100% cruise fare for a second cruise. Only reason why we're going again. We have a good time, we just spend more time in our cabin & on our balcony. It's nice that there are choices, since you prefer another line:)

I just discovered Carnivals is not that inexpensive......we just booked Celebrity 5 nights open bar gratuities paid & 100 OBC for $439...... the bar tab alone will save DW $700 so that and gratuities will be over 1k compared CCL......and Celebrity has no loud scream tvs on Ledo Deck.....

  2. More pictures around the ship and a wrap to embarkation day:

Eventually it's time to head to the muster drill. The drill was held in one of the dining rooms. I sat too long and I dozed off; I guess the lack of sleep was catching up to me. Photo courtesy of my mother:

After muster drill, but before sail away I head to the meeting spot for the informal M&G with a bunch of crazy people I met through the roll call. 1480544_10200618896509390_1660199627_n.jpg

After putting faces to some of the names, my mom and I head inside; I was really tired. We head to the room and I took a nap until it was time to go to dinner.

My mother woke me at a quarter to 7:00 and I didn't feel so good. My upper stomach was hurting bad. I had fallen asleep in my clothes and thought my bras the culprit (it has underwire). I removed it and the pain eased up just a little. I kept telling my mom to give me five minutes to move from the bed. Those five minutes became thirty minutes.

*Disclaimer* If you have a weak stomach, stop reading now and pick up when I get to the Fun Day At Sea

You're still with me? I did warn you. My mother soon realized I wasn't going to make it to dinner. My bladder eventually got me out of bed, but I guess the movement made everything in my stomach come up. Initially it was clear. It was like I was throwing up water. Then I saw green; the same color of the sauce from the food I had eaten at the Mongolian Wok! Oh no, do have food poisoning? I was miserable! My mom had me to drink a Sprite and you would have sworn I was the girl from the Exorcist; I had projectile vomit after drinking the Sprite. This went on allllllllllllllllllllllllll night. I couldn't get comfortable and just when I thought I'd get some sleep; I had to throw up again. I thought I was vomiting my insides out because eventually the vomit was thick and yellow. What in the world was wrong with me?????

NEXT UP, FUN DAY AT SEA. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE TYPED TONIGHT, BUT CC EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM; MAYBE THEY WERE UPDATING THEIR SERVERS??? WHATEVER THE CASE, I COULDN'T GET IN FOR AN HOUR. SO I'LL START THE REST TOMORROW SOME TIME. GIVES ME MORE TIME TO WRITE ABOUT THE 1ST PORT OF CALL TOO.

I'm so sorry to hear you got that sick, being that sick at sea is H _ _ _ , It happen to us too on the Breeze in August.....picture this, since you went through it you'll understand....we had two cabins 5 people total .....WE ALL GOT IT AT THE SAME TIME...FIVE PEOPLE TWO BATHROOMS.....you can't control it the balcony and the room was a mess it was gross....both ends all night long....next sea day we went up to get air late in day and a lot of people said they were sick too or that their room mates were sick...everyone getting sick at the same time is no virus.....Our teen kids said if next year’s summer vacation is a cruise “ don’t to book us “........

  3. Yes' date=' I understand they will be doing away with the tablecloths over the next few months. Some of the ships already have made the change.

I know some do not care one way or the other about a tablecloth but it does matter to us. I don't use a tablecloth on my kitchen table but there is always one on my dining room table.

Carnival has made so many cutbacks over the last five years, but this was the thing that did it for us....we recently cancelled our upcoming Liberty cruise...time for us to try something different...and it is such a shame, because we have always loved our Carnival cruises.

Please folks no rude comments about it...it's just a preference for us that we have a tablecloth when dining.[/quote']

Come on that was just the icing on the cake...it is comical no table cloths in a dining room...all you can is laugh.....Cayhill's Carnival is SAD!!

  4. I am debating on doing the steakhouse on our upcoming cruise and am a very picky eater and am wondering if you can order the Yukon mash potatoes with wasabi without the wasabi.

When I eat in the MDR they don't have the wasabi in the potatoes

Also was wondering if you can get WCMC for dessert instead of that is on the steakhouse menu?

Trying to explain to hubby that it would be cheaper and easier just to go to MDR and he can order the steakhouse steak

My wife would always react as you.......we go an she always loves the experience .....try it for DH..............

  5. I've been very loyal to Carnival. Although, I have been on several Royal Caribbean cruises as well. However, I'm trying to decide between The Carnival Fascination and Royal Caribbean Brillance of the sea.

Jacksonville, Fl.- Fascination : Key West, Nassau

Tampa, Fl.- Brilliance of the Seas: Grand Cayman, Cozumel

    Which would you choose?

If what I see is correct and its been several years since cruising Carnival.....its not the same as it was several years ago.....go RCCL! YIKES......Did I just say that and still own Carnival stock...I need to see on Monday................

  6. I had to post because I want to know if anyone else has gotten sooo "lucky"?

I received 3 free sailings (I have to pay tax and fees) from Carnival's casino in less than a week. I havnt sailed with them in years. And for those skeptics... no, I didn't spend a bunch of money in casino (less than $1000 over 8 cruises) when I did gamble, but I did win a jackpot. I booked the mother-load..23 days to Fiji, Tahiti, Bora Bora, to Australia. Cost me less than $500 for the 2 of us....I've seen where others were given 1, but never 3.

In years ...............your in for a change.........

  7. My fiance & I just returned from our first cruise ever aboard the Carnival Victory & absolutely loved cruising! We are ready to book another for next Oct/Nov for our honeymoon! Although we had agreat time, we feel that Carnival may not be the line for us though. We are a young"ish" couple (35/37) and enjoy having fun, but found Carnival to be a bit "much". We aren't into blasting dance music by the pool, belly flop contests or flashing shot glasses. Also, we do not have children and don't find yours' splashing us in the hot tub the least bit relaxing. We aren't stuffy or snobbish in the least, but we do tend to enjoy educational/ cultural enrichment experiences more when we travel than we do bar top dancing & jello shots. I work as an executive chef & my fiance is a professional engineer in the music industry & blues musician. We know how to have fun, but perhaps are a bit more subtle about it than some of our fellow pax on Carnival. I have received several recommendations on this board & from friends to try Celebrity. We were looking specifically at the Silhouette & Reflection. One small concern I have is that we are night owls and hope there will be some things for us to enjoy late night. Another is that I am a very heavily tattooed female & am wondering if I will be accepted by my fellow pax on Celebrity or will I spend me week hearing rude comments about my artwork & dodging disapproving glances? Everything I have heard & read about Celebrity make it sound like the PERFECT line for us, with the exception of the opinion that the fellow pax can sometimes be unfriendly & snobbish. Please fellow CC folks, clear up this misconception for me!

I'm in your boat:D I love Carnival night life and a lot of what you've mentioned is getting to me.....Last two cruises we were out late 3-4am......just not sure I'm going to get that fun here...........:D Maybe we need to do a Celebrity group cruise it call it Night Owls Cruise.....

  8. So just some background - 4th CCL cruise - traveling just DH & I

This trip had some ups & downs ! NOT our overall favorite but still a nice vacation

Will download photos & get started this evening !!

Freedom is ready for an overhaul for sure !!!

I've been saying the same thing for three years now and the last one did me in.......consider giving someone else a shot next .... 20k later I'm giving Celebrity a try......
