  1. This. They are god awful in Honolulu. Also agree with Scott's other suggestions.
  2. Maybe the very beginning of June and very late September you'll see a slight difference but when you're talking about late June or mid July there is not going to be any major difference in terms of crowds. It really ramps up in late May into June, coinciding with school and college letting out in the US, and starts tapering in September.
  3. Venice to Naples is a MUCH easier transfer than Rome/Naples to Athens. Trenitalia runs several nonstop Frecciarossa high speed trains from Venice Santa Lucia station. Trip time is about 5.5 hours but no flying. The weather is not going to be materially hotter in the couple weeks between the end of June and mid July-- I wouldn't base travel decisions on that. If you were comparing crowds/heat April to July as an example that would be a much bigger difference.
  4. In this situation I will typically go to a nice hotel for lunch or drinks and just check the bags for the day with the bell desk. A nice tip and you are usually all set.
  5. What's your budget? Boston has a considerable breadth of options from budget to 5 star and a lot in between. Hilton does have options but not the greatest options for points redemption. The Hilton Boston Downtown/Faneuil Hall is the best one they have for exploration of the city. The Hilton Back Bay is a bit more isolated but doable. My personal favorite is the Fairmont Copley Plaza-- beautiful grand dame hotel in a great location and solid 4 star option. On the top end the new renovation they just did on the Four Seasons next to Boston Common is stunning. A decent budget friendly hotel in a good location is the Park Plaza Hotel.
  6. Agree-- I sort of use Uber like I use the word Kleenex. Lyft works great in Baltimore and can be less expensive than Uber sometimes.
  7. From Kahului its fairly easy to get an Uber in the late afternoon/evening since you're by the airport. Coming back from Lahaina Ubers will be available but you should be prepared to use a traditional taxi (which are also readily available in Lahaina) just in case. Keep in mind that while you are in Lahaina you are about a 10-15 minute walk from the main downtown area.
  8. You can still work with one of the top end car services like Carey, Savoya, or Empire CLS-- their drivers will meet you in the terminal with a little sign. But you usually pay through the nose for the convenience. Most of them start charging you from garage out to garage in meaning you have a lot of time on the meter. Can be hundreds more than other options. Much less expensive to use an app or just call the driver at a Dial7 or Carmel.
  9. They are a lot closer than either side would like to admit. If you put Katz's and Schwartz next to each other the average person would have a very difficult time differentiating.
  10. Dial7 or Carmel will be the best bet for a prescheduled service. Keep in mind that if its a shorter ride (like from the MCT to a hotel in Manhattan) options like Uber/Lyft will most likely be a MUCH better deal.
  11. 72nd and Broadway. It's actually their larger location where they do their catering orders from. I too only knew about the shoebox one at 78th and Lex. Only found out about the Upper West Side one when I placed a lunch order for the office a few months ago.
  12. Also there are far fewer trains that stop at EWR (and no Acelas) so taking the train to Newark Penn might make sense just from that perspective.
  13. Most likely Trilogy or Teralani. Possibly Hula Girl but not likely because of the timing you mentioned. I know Trilogy sails from Lahaina as well as off the beach at Kaanapali. Teralani definitely sails off the beach at Kaanapali but not sure if they go to Lahaina.
  14. Technically EWR but only by a few minutes. With EWR you will need to take the AirTrain monorail to station P4 before you can get an Uber to Cape Liberty. Newark Penn you can just get a car from the station.
  15. I agree with Charles here-- NCL itinerary is superior for the full extra day, departing NYC (vs New Jersey), as well as the benefits such as the free ferry to St George. 3 days in Bermuda with NCL is going to translate to 2 full days and one partial day. 2 days in Bermuda on LOS is really 1 full day and 1 day you have to be back on the ship by 4pm. The entire attraction for me cruising to Bermuda vs flying there is the long port stops combined with the sea days on either side. I only really start to really relax on vacation on day 4 or so-- that's where the 5 day itinerary falls short.
  16. Pastrami Queen on 72nd St will be a similar commute from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal to what Carnegie Deli would have been by taxi/Uber. Both Pastrami Queen and Katz's are better than what Carnegie was back in the day.
  17. Your research is accurate. Taxis in Baltimore are abominable and shuttles take forever. Uber is the best blend of quality/speed/cost.
  18. Agree on Juniors-- not very good and certainly not worth the effort. If you want the best pastrami/corned beef in the city jump in a cab or Uber and go to Katz's. As close second would be Pastrami Queen-- there is one on the West Side on 72nd St-- still going to need a cab/uber but it will take about 10-15 minutes to get to vs more like 25-30 with Katz's.
  19. I'm in Dublin several times a year for work and just use Uber. What we call UberX doesn't exist in Ireland (the app will just call you a standard taxi) but they do have UberBlack which will get you a black car liveried service. A lot easier than finding a car service.
  20. Book a snorkel tour with Captain Steve's Rafting and use the credit elsewhere-- over the years he's become our favorite operator for both whale watching and snorkel tours. The snorkel tours they do are off of the island of Lanai so you get to cover an additional island you wouldn't normally go to on a cruise. If it's during whale season they will also take you whale watching to and from Lanai. They depart from the Mala boat ramp which is on the north side of town.
  21. It's doable. BWI is small and is only about 15-20 minutes from the cruise port.
  22. Also worth mentioning that all major (and a bunch of not so major) car rental companies have locations in downtown Honolulu and Waikiki that are a bit closer to you than the airport. If you are renting the car and headed somewhere else (like the North Shore etc) then going to the airport isn't a huge deal. If you are renting a car at the airport and then headed to Waikiki anyway you can save yourself some time.
  23. I learned this a couple months ago with a colleague who is wheelchair dependent. Yes-- there are a certain number of wheelchair accessible NYC taxis. You can call a dispatch center to call them to you by dialing 311. Additionally both Uber and Lyft offer wheelchair accessible rides through their apps and we found these to be much quicker than calling for a taxi. If you want to be able to walk to a bunch of major sights and not be dependent on transportation during your stay I would suggest looking in Midtown Manhattan for a hotel. Personally I would tell you to avoid Times Square but different folks have different tolerances for it than I do.
  24. Agree with this. Also has a great rooftop pool and restaurant/bar overlooking the Acropolis.
