Look forward to the cruise Oct. 30. We have never booked this close to sail date so don't have long to wait until we drive to the port.

We booked Zuiderdam obstructed ocean view cabin last week. Next day TA called and could upgrade to VA cabin for additional $149 pp. Went for it. Now I read that the verandas are very small and look out on top of lifeboats. Not happy.

Price was $748 pp for the cabin. Doing partial Panama Canal itinerary. When TA called and mentioned VA category I thought great as I know they are listed at top of list with VH at bottom. Hope we are not terribly disappointed. Anyone have one of these cabins?

We are looking at booking the partial Panama Canal cruise Oct. 30 on the Zuiderdam. I have read that there will be a Vegan Cruise Planner Group onboard. Has anyone cruised with this group or can tell me if it would impact our enjoyment of the cruise.

We book lanais located mid ship. There are some port side further aft and I have read reviews from cruisers that stayed in them hearing noise during the night from the galley above.

We have had a lanai cabin twice and are booked in one for our April 9 ten night cruise. They are smaller with less storage but love being able to go out the sliders to the cabin's loungers and watch the sea and read our books. Did not have any problem with other cruisers sitting in our loungers.

On Holland America ships are there lots of children with parents/grandparents cruising the week of Thanksgiving? Has anyone experienced a HAL ship being loaded with kids during Thanksgiving week?

Yikes I don't like to read about overflowing toilets. We're going on Maasdam next month. What deck and area were the overflowing toilets on?

Anyone have positive comments on Maasdam's lanai cabins. We are booked in an EE category but think we might like to upgrade (cost involved I know) to a CA category.

We are also interested in this shore excursion. I remember that you went to the artists homes or galleries.

The Maasdam just came out of a drydock last week. Does anyone know what was done? Look forward to some reviews soon.

What is the advantage to making down payment for future cruise while on board? Is the amount $100 per person? Wondering if any onboard credit if booking a veranda?

Skoogs - glad to read you loved your lanai cabin. We were in one a couple years ago and really enjoyed it, too. What was your cabin number? Great that you had no problems. We have been on the Maasdam a few times and liked everything about those cruises on her.

Two positive answers - thanks. I was looking at some VA cabins that are left and are more mid ship. Not sure if want to pay extra.

Would you feel a lot of motion in forward cabin 7033 when sailing or only if the seas are rough?

What is the charge for PG for dinner? We are four star but perhaps that won't make a difference in pricing when we have the voucher which would be fine.

We just booked Westerdam cruise and TA said we have received onboard credit and Dine Around Package with booking during their Anniversary Sale.

HAL's web site says Dine Around Package is a $70 value. Do we receive notice of this or a voucher in our cabin upon embarkation?

Those were the crew - sailors and marines - manning the rails. They stand along the rails or along the edge of the flight deck when entering and leaving a port.

Looking at the Nov. 29 sailing of the Eurodam. Following this cruise the ship goes into dry dock. Will they be starting work on the ship during the cruise?

Any thoughts on this? Would you sail on this ship knowing this?

Does anyone know who the piano bar player will be for this cruise?
