Thanks for info. We just became 4 star after our 14 day cruise last week on the Maasdam. Looking for the Nov. 28 roll call for Zuiderdam I see you have started one. We will be on it, too. You are in S. FL - where? We will be coming from Homosassa FL.
-
Do 4 star Mariners check in at this same location?
-
Miss the horse racing out by the lido pool. Also, the docs in the blue folder and the free cappuccino after dinner.

We've stayed several times at the Dania Beach Sleep Inn. Walk to Publix and buy wine.

We have stayed several times at Sleep Inn Dania Beach. We walked to the Publix after we arrived and bought couple croissants and slices of cheese from Deli and bottle of wine. Had our Happy Hour by the pool. The Mexican restaurant is nice and priced 'right'. In the morning before having the provided breakfast we walked to the ocean and walked a bit on the Hollywood Broadwalk. Ocean is a little over a mile from Sleep Inn. The drive to the port is about 15-20 min. We have left our car in their lot and used their shuttle. Other times drove to port and parked in the Midport garage.

Last year in April we stayed at Sleep Inn in Dania Beach and drove to the port. There was much road construction and poor signage for getting to the port. Is this nearing completion or typical road construction project of 5-10 year duration? (as many of Florida's road projects tend to be)

Last year in April we stayed night before our cruise in Dania Beach and drove to the port next morning. There was lots of construction and signage was awful for getting there. Roads were in awful condition. Will be staying here in three weeks and would like to know how roads are now and if construction is complete.

Great photo. Grandson was on a US Navy Boomer, USS Louisanna, as a Naval Midshipman last summer. His Dad was a submarine officer on the USS Shark after his Naval Academy graduation.

If purchase wine package when we board the ship in Ft. Lauderdale before we sail does it actually cost more because of added tax? Have always stopped by the 'wine' desk and place order when we board.
Should we wait until the ship has sailed and left Ft. Lauderdale?

Thank you for the responses about the cabin wine packages.
Which Chardonnay did you enjoy, Sheila?
-
We plan to buy two 7 bottle wine packages after we board the ship. The one is for the MDR and the other for our cabin. Do we pick the 7 bottles we want and they are delivered to the cabin all at one time or ??
We have ordered wine packages several times for the dining room. With the new wine policy and only able to bring on board one bottle per person we will order the package for our cabin.

Thanks for cat J information. Calling TA this morning and booking Maasdam March 28 cruise. That will be confusing when the category changes are made. I will be sure to order a new brochure after May 2. Thanks for that info.

I think you are right. Sure appreciate having Copper 10-8 answering our questions. Nice to have someone "in the know".
-
Several cabins in this category. I guess one is as good as another. I know RuthC recommends this category and appreciate all her good input.
-
Hope this sailing has experienced and some familiar names manning the ship. Copper can you tell us who they will be and also the cruise director.
Hope Willy who we had for our wine steward last April is still onboard. He made our dinner dining such a pleasure.

Andrea a review of your Maasdam sailing is really what we need to reassure us about booking on the Maasdam. Look forward to it. Thanks in advance.

Can someone that has taken this tour please let us know what the cost is?
It sounds very interesting and if we take the Zuiderdam partial Panama Canal cruise my husband would like to see this.
-
When I post a question and see that RuthC has responded I know that I will receive some very good information.
I really enjoy and learn a lot from reading her postings. Love CC

With the Lanai cabins each having two loungers dedicated to them can someone tell me if there would be a problem finding two loungers beyond the lanai cabins or are there only a few for passengers not in a lanai cabin.

How do they sound the horn -- push a button or pull a cord??
-
would sure like to hear about the ship from someone on the current sailing. In order to realize some OBC we have to book by Jan. 26.
-
How are the toots sounded -- push bottom or pull a cord??

The Quilt Camp At Sea on the Zuiderdam April sailing -- does anyone have any information on how many would be in this group and what areas of the ship they would be using?
-
Does anyone know how many would be on for the April 7 Quilt Camp At Sea Group. What room would they be using or any other locations with their sewing machines, etc.? Would this group impact enjoyment of other cruisers on board?

POA1 what is your preferred route to the port with all the construction going on? When we went March 28 we drove from Sleep Inn in Dania Beach where we stayed one night taking highway 1 to SR 84 and turned right. What a traffic jam - complete grid lock backing onto 1 because of many tanker truck entering the port. Finally made it!
