  1. Come on, John. Everyone knows you can't see Uranus in the dark!

That was hilarious! and apparently we aren't the only ones who would like the top of the ship darkened for a bit at night. I thought Princess also dimmed the lights up top for a bit at night, thanks for the tip about Cunard. I bet that was a fascinating talk.

Towel Critter - on all of our "16 cruises" I believe our balcony lights only worked once! Last February on the Freedom! I would not be insulted at all if my neighbor asked me to turn them out. I would be embarrassed that I had overlooked it.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, except people like Parakeet Bob or I guess he's now Carnival Cheerleader have taken the fun out of Cruise Critic and I had stopped checking in. But now that DH is retired, he discovered he likes to read up on cruising instead of me doing all the research and planning.

This is the harshest post I have ever written- I always tried to answer questions, if I knew the answer, with respect and courtesy. I'm embarrassed for all you rude people. :( Deb

  2. We have been on 16 cruises, I wish that every night at any given time that the ship could turn off all the bright lights on the lito deck so everyone could star gaze! There is probably somesort of maritime law preventing it but it would be awesome if they would or could, even for just 30 minutes.Just as everyone wants to see the sun rise or see the sunset, Nothing beats a star filled sky! Come on Carnival, give us something special to remember,

  3. We found back when we were beginners at cruising that when you eat breakfast or brunch sit at tables with a large group of people that you don't know. You will learn awful lot about the things that you do not know. The places where they have been the cruise ships that they have been on and what excursions you don't want to miss. There are so many interesting people and stories. All first-hand information from experienced Cruisers. We have wound up finding new friendships in this way. Of course the best place to do this is in the MDR. You can always eat as a couple in the evening. This is also a good way 4 Families 2 meet who have children. We think it's always a little more fun when you are with people you know or have just met.

  4. When on the East End of Cozumel, be sure to stop at coconuts Beach Club. It is a little risque but a beautiful place great drinks, fun place. That side of the island is so beautiful. None of the crowd packs. Some real nice beach bars. Several years ago we rented a taxi by the hour. For only $100 he took us on a 4 Hour drive around the island. He stopped every place that we wanted to we stopped for lunch, in fact we bought his lunch also. He talked about all the sites and history of the island he even stopped by his own house, and brought out his own photo album to bring along on the ride. Every time we wanted to stop just to take a picture he was very obliging. The price has probably gone up since we last did this but it was a great way to spend the day. He said that we could have even gone into the water whatever we wanted to do was okay he would just sit and wait. My only stipulation was that he would be paid at the end of our tour. It was my way of assuring myself that we would not be left behind. I found this way to be safer then to rent a Jeep on my own and risk problems either with the vehicle or getting into a little fender bender. We are going to go back soon and we will do the same thing but with a little more knowledge. The ruins were also included on our stop. His name was Constantine AKA pork chop.

  5. We have enjoyed catamaran excursions in Grand Cayman to Stingray City several times that includes 2 snorkeling stops.Of course everything depends on if the cruise ship can stop due to rough water. You can find several private operators with great reviews..

  6. You did not mention where in Jamaica you will be going to. But if you are going to Montego Bay a great place to eat is scotchies. They have traditional Jamaican Jerk Chicken & Ribs. It is very close to the pier a short cab ride. A great way to spend the day is to go to doctor's cave Beach and Margaritaville! They are within walking distance of one another. Doctor's cave Beach is beautiful and safe

  7. We are going on a cruise in September on the Carnival Breeze. Does anyone know if they are going to have the carnival quest game? I have seen that they have had it on other ships in the past. Is this something that they do on all their ships?

  8. If you are predisposed to being bored, that is exactly what you will be.You guys have waited 5 years to go on your honeymoon. Go with an open mind, there are hundreds of You-Tube videos that can you can watch, even for the particular cruise ship that you will be on. I would like to know what his post-cruise opinion is. Congratulations on your wedding and your cruise!

  9. I never wanted to go on a cruise because I didn't want to be stuck on a ship. Boy was I wrong. After going on our first cruise, we are not going on our 15th. We totally unplug. No phone no Internet Just the Two of Us. Bring a book, a deck of cards and maybe a game that the two of you can play. There is so much to do that the time flies by. There are so many places to do absolutely nothing if you so choose, and places to sing and dance and play all kinds of games. We really enjoy the comedy shows and The Newlywed Game. I say go with an open mind and you will have a good time
