1. Hey that's a good idea! I never thought about bringing a rubber band!

I normally bring my own. I have long hair and it takes for ever to dry my hair with the blow dryers that carnival provides.

Hi Laura! We were on the Conquest together last year! How y'all been? Which ship are you going on next? We are booked on the "new and improved" Conquest in September. Looking forward to the Mongolian Grill and "my time" dining. Not so much the big screen.

If I remember correctly, we did not need passes last year for tenders. and we were not booked thru Carnival for our excursion.

  2. Yes there are blowdryers' date=' but I hear they aren't very powerful and it's best to bring your own.[/quote']

They are small and if you have long or thick hair you will want to bring your own. You have to hold the button at all times to keep it on. Some people have written they use a rubber band around handle to keep button down while using. I just bring mine. :)

  3. Anyone have this balcony cabin or something close to it? Do you hear a lot of noise from the theater? Have never been this far foward, any problem with movement or wind? At least it should be far enough away from the elevators and stairs and forward of the casino that we shouldn't be bothered with smoke or noise from the casino.

We had 6225 and did not notice any difference from our midship Verandah cabin we had the cruise before, as far as movement/noise/wind. Did not hear any noise from theater either. I don't think there is a "bad" balcony on the Conquest! going on our 4th and trying the aft this time. :)

  4.
When I watched the Samantha Brown Freedom cruise they did a Breast Cancer walk. Can someone tell me they they do this walk on the Conquest?? If so can you tell me when? cause I want to make sure we don't miss it....:)
They have been doing it the last sea day, Saturday, on the Conquest.
  5.
Call Carnival or your TA and ask to be moved to "our time" dining. Conquest offers it. I had our TA call and request it for us yesterday. It took just a few minutes and showed up on our reservation at carnival right away as confirmed. This way we can go early or late as our schedule permits. :)

  6.
Hello,

I am not very familiar with this ship but I will be sailing on the Conquest 9/20/09. We are booked in a category 8F on the spa deck. I was told it had a basic balcony - 35 square feet. I hope you are right and the balcony is deeper.
Sorry Julie, but the cabins and balconies on the Spa deck are just the regular balcony size. The deeper balconies are on the back of the ship. Empress deck has some mid ship that are wider, as are the ones on sides in back on Upper, Empress and Verandah. If you check the deck plans on the Conquest at carnival you will see what I mean.
  7.
Anyone have any input on the "aft" cabins on the Conquest? We just got an upgrade to cat. 8-F, cabins 7446 & 7448 across the very back on the Empress deck. I understand the cabins are bigger and have an extended balcony. Is there a down side? Noise etc.

    Thanks,
    Doug
I don't think the cabins are much larger but the balconies are deeper. Noise should not be much of a factor - you have cabins above and below you. I think you get more noise if on Verandah due to Lido above (chair dragging noise, etc.) and I have heard trash sometimes ends up on balcony from people above throwing things over. We are trying the cabin at very back on starboard side this year. Had a friend that got "upgraded" on his balcony guarantee rate and it had a much larger room and longer balcony than standard balcony cabin. He had no complaints, and we didn't notice engine vibrations when we were in it, so thought we would give it a try this year.
  8. I've asked this elsewhere, but did not understand the answer--how do you attach the shoe thingies that have a lot of compartments in them in the bathrooms? Someone said they have velcro--is there velcro on the bathroom door? Do they have just one hole for only one hook or are there two holes and two hooks on the bathroom door. Am thinking of getting one (maybe) and just have no idea how to hang it. Guess I'm not too handy!

    (sob) Elena

The one I purchased and use faithfully had two hooks included which fit perfectly over the bathroom door. I hang it on the inside of the bathroom door.

  9. does anyone know if the showers in the conquest category 1A have doors or shower curtains on the shower?

I am wondering whether or not to take my handy clothespins to "weigh dow on" the curtain or if there will be a door on the shower.

    thanks

    melissa

curtains. I always bring my clothespins. :) you can also use them on clothesline in bathroom. handy for clipping towels to the chairs on our balcony also.

  10. Does anyone know what the typical menu items are for the Chinese place?

My entire family LOVES Asian food:p

Last year they changed the entrees daily. I ate there maybe twice and it was ok. Not as good as a real authentic chinese restaurant but passable. To be honest I can't remember any specific selections, :o maybe if you do a search you can find a sample menu.

  11. Not sure how much the drinks have gone up since last year, but the foo foo drinks ranged from $6.25 to 7.50 plus the 15% gratuity. Now they are cheaper if you refill your souvenier glass or get it in a regular glass. My DH used the coupons for drinks at the bar in regular glasses (at $5.50 ea) with no problem. Don't think they would cover the cost of the souvenier glasses. If you do the math - 4 tickets for $19.50 (including gratuity) you can save a few dollars with the coupons. (about 1 dollar per) Don't use them for beers, you will lose money! I also do not think you can purchase on board. Ours was in a Bon Voyage gift package but you can purchase in advance and they will deliver them to you the first night.

  12. What is the best suggestion for a storage solution for shower stuff? I need a place for shampoo/conditioner/face wash... Should I bring little suction pocket shelves or an over the shower head thing? Or is there already enough shelving for stuff like that?

there is an installed dispenser in the shower with shampoo and body wash in it, I always use an over the door shoe holder with clear pockets ($10 bucks @ Wallyworld!) for all the little things, keeps the counters clear. There is shelving at the sink and counter area, but can't remember much in the shower itself. I went back and looked at my pics and I can't tell for sure- I think I put my shampoo, conditioner and razor on top of the dispensers when I was in the shower. The suction cup shelves sound like a great idea!
