  1. For Aqua Sky Suites, there is limited shoreside concierge support. You'll receive an email asking for your preferences (e.g., pillow options, # of hangers, special occasion) closer to your sailing date, which is then passed onto the onboard team.
  2. I'm brand new to Cunard. I'm disembarking from the QM2 world voyage in Southampton at the end of April. In my previous sailings with a different cruise line, I've usually taken shore excursions when disembarking, with airport drop-off at the end of the excursions. When I booked my Cunard sailing, I noticed an option to include transfer from ship to airport, which I declined, as I'd prefer a shore excursion with airport drop-off. When I go to My Cunard and check the Shore Experiences available at Southampton, there are no tours available. Is this the norm at Cunard, where the only available option is a direct ship to airport transfer? Or will a shore excursion with airport drop-off be made available closer to the sailing? Thanks in advance for your insights.
  3. This will be my first Cunard cruise, having sailed for the past 16 years on Celebrity. On this sailing, on the QM2, I'll travel solo. I searched the forum and unfortunately could not find answers to my questions. The food experience is very important for my sailing enjoyment, so I'd like to have enough information to make informed decisions. I like to dine early. Are there lines for Open Dining when the Britannia Restaurant opens for lunch and dinner? On Celebrity, I've always observed long lines and big crowds for open dining at the main dining room, so I'm interested in learning how it is on QM2. How is the overall Britannia Restaurant Open Dining experience? Any significant negatives? I read in a thread that solo cruisers on Open Dining get assigned a table for 2; is that piece of information correct? Thanks in advance for your clarification.
  4. This will be my first cruise on a ship with do-it-yourself laundry facilities. Not sure what to expect, but I'll make sure to leave my bazooka in the cabin.
  5. Oh, I totally got roscoe39's humor! My reply was in jest, but as you said, my attempt at humor did not come across well in written form. I'll be on the QM2 world voyage from Singapore to Southampton, thus my interest in this thread. I've cruised through the region previously, in 2019, through the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea onboard the Celebrity Constellation, with no incidents. I have wonderful memories from that cruise [photo album]. The cruise line had special measures in place on that sailing. I have confidence that Cunard will handle this situation appropriately and we'll be fine.
  6. As a first timer on a Cunard ship in a couple of months, your post gives me anxiety.
  7. This will be my first cruise on Cunard, doing the 2024 World Cruise segment from Singapore to Southampton. Looking forward to experiencing the QM2, getting to know people, sharing meals onboard, explore destinations together and making long lasting friendships! Spouse is not interested in this long itinerary, so I'll be traveling solo. I just booked this cruise and will start looking into shore excursions; if you have an opening in any of your privately organized tours, please let me know! Thom
  8. Reply originally posted [here]. There is some walking required to get on the ship. Take a look at this [photo]. [1] is the location of curbside baggage drop off [photo]. [2] is the location of escalator and elevator to go up to the upper level to the check-in area [photo]. [3] is the security check area. [4] is the main check-in hall. [5] is the location of The Retreat check-in [partial photo]. [6] is the access point to escalator and elevator to go up to the next level, for ship access. [7] is the access ramp to the ship. Hope this helps!
  9. First of all, congratulations booking your first Celebrity cruise! In your booking confirmation invoice, you should see itemized lines reflecting them. If in doubt, call Celebrity to confirm.
  10. Constellation is going into dry dock in Spring 2024, after her eastbound transatlantic sailing starting on March 23.
  11. In which type of cabin are you booked? Generally speaking, call the number listed on the Celebrity website. If you are a Retreat guest, there is a separate number you can use to reach the Shoreside Concierge. If you are on Sky or Celebrity suite, Shoreside Concierge will reach out to you over email closer to your sailing date. If you are on Royal Suite or above, Shoreside Concierge will contact you by phone closer to your sailing date. Hope this helps!
  12. I personally would not take the chance of booking a guaranteed, hoping to get an upgrade to a higher category, as you might end up in a cabin that you'll not enjoy. When I book guarantees, I make sure that I'm comfortable being assigned to any of the remainder inventory available on the ship. My personal experience has been that they always assign the least desirable cabin available. Maybe others have better luck, but that has not been my experience.
  13. You can also let your waiter know that you are planning on attending the late show. If he/she is a good waiter, they will make sure that you finish your meal in time for you to get a seat at the theatre. If they are a bad waiter, you'll not be able to get dessert. In my most recent sailing, our waiter Nolan was fantastic, always mindful of the theatre showtime. In a previous sailing, despite the waiter having been informed on the first day of the cruise that we wanted to finish our dinners in time to attend the shows, he couldn't care less. After two days of missing dessert, I complained to the maitre d', who in turn had the audacity to tell us that if we were not happy with Luminae, we could dine at Blu or the MDR. For the remainder of that sailing, we switched tables and the new waiter was outstanding.
  14. Thanks for the compliments! Our itinerary did not include New Orleans. Having said that, if we are to trust what is on this website [link], apparently it is possible to exit on Julia Street [see photo below] and avoiding going that far north up, as per Google Maps. Hope this helps!
  15. I agree with you that Connie will greatly benefit from her dry dock this coming spring. Looking forward to many more years sailing on this grand lady!
  16. Thank you so much. It is in your power to decide on which ships your upcoming trips will be on!
  17. Thanks for your kind words! I wholeheartedly agree with you in regards to the gorgeous wood paneling that elevates the Royal Suite. And Michael's Club on the Connie is gorgeous, warm and comfortable, compared to the revolutionized ones.
  18. Thanks so much. I agree! People's opinions can be subjective, since it is an account from other people's eyes. With photos, you can form your own opinion, based on what truly matters to you!
  19. You are so kind! I learn so much from this board. I just wanted to give back to the community, and sometimes there are just not enough pictures to know what to expect on board.
  20. Thanks for your kind words. My favorite dish at Qsine Le Petit Chef was the braised short rib of beef [photo]. It was absolutely tender and so flavorful, a symphony of flavours in the mouth!
  21. Take a look here at their historic weather data and decide for yourself: https://www.tokyo.climatemps.com/index.php Summer in Japan is hot and humid, but I found it bearable for sightseeing. I went there twice during summer, not on a cruise. Japan is a lovely destination to visit. Here are my photos from Japan on the Millennium [photo album].
  22. Here is a short video I created on the Constellation during our most recent sailing: [video link] Celebrity Constellation: [photo album] Luminae: [photo album] Tuscan Grille, Qsine, Sushi on 5, Michael's Club, Cafe Al Bacio: [photo album] Ports of Call @ Dec 10, 2023 sailing: [photo album]
  23. SHIP: Constellation REVOLUTIONIZED: No CABIN #: 6142 DECK #: 6 CLASS: RS AREA: Starboard, Aft BED NEAR: N/A, separate sleeping area QUIET?: Yes BALCONY VIEW: Great, unobstructed BALCONY SIZE: Oversized, 195 sq. ft. WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Well maintained lovely large suite with separate living, dining, sleeping and closet areas, outfitted with comfortable furniture and beautiful wood paneling that elevates the space. Updated spacious bathroom features a hot tub and separate walk-in shower with a glass door; included Le Habo amenities were nice. Excellent amount of storage space. Good Wi-Fi signal reception. The large balcony received a good amount of salt water spray, especially during the first few days of our sailing. I asked the suite attendant for pool towels, which I used to cover the balcony furniture before seating on them. The balcony was subsequently washed mid-cruise. TVs lacked HDMI port to connect laptop computer to them. Lack of privacy in balcony; cabins above can look down on balcony through the awning panel edges. Additional power outlets would be nice, especially in bathroom to recharge electric toothbrushes and razors. PHOTOS: [photo album]
  24. I believe the anonymity of social media and the internet amplifies who people are deep down. It brings the best out of some people, and the worst out of others. I find CC an invaluable source of information. It has helped me plan my travels, and I try to give back to the community when I can. If there are more questions that were not covered in the answer provided by @wrk2cruise here, feel free to ask and the community will come to your assistance.
  25. I just read this entire thread, and found it fascinating. The line of arguing, questioning, and some of them downright blaming the victims just shows some of the posters true colors.
