  1. Speaking only from my perspective: A lot of people are asymptomatic or the symptoms are so mild that people think they have a cold when they may have covid. If you don't know if you've had covid recently, then you may still test positive with a PCR test for months. If that were the case and for whatever reason the cruise line decides to test you (say you got sick....ie: common cold) and you are tested, the Antigen test will probably come back negative. However, if they decide to do a PCR test on you to be sure, you may still show positive (as in my dad's case). Without the doctor's note showing you have recovered, you may still end up in quarantine even though you recovered from covid 2 months ago. It's better to know in advance so you can get the doctor's note......that's all. Hope I explained this better.
  2. This is my thought: I bring my vaccine card in case I drop my phone overboard or lose it. I bring my State issued vaccine record with my QR code in case I lose my vaccine card. I'd rather be safe than sorry....
  3. You had a BEAUTIFUL day to see the glaciers! Lucky you 🙂. When I was there it rained so hard I could barely see them.
  4. Right now what I've noticed is the ships are short staffed. Blame it on covid or whatever, but it's noticeable to me. They are trying, but they're falling a bit short IMO. Food isn't quite as good as before either.....not that it's bad, it's just night as good. Kind of like some Thanksgiving turkeys are super good and others are just good and unremarkable. They've have a few problems with embarkations, this I can somewhat blame on covid as protocols have changed, new rules are in place (ArriveCan), etc. and the staff hasn't been able to handle all the changes. Lastly, poor communication from Princess......they are severely lacking in the PR dept. Now for some good: It's SO nice to be be cruising again. If you remember to pack your patience, you will find you'll have a wonderful cruise. If you are expecting a cruise like it was pre-covid, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment. The crew are working tremendously hard and are genuinely happy to be back to work. The have more cleaning/sanitizing than they've ever had to do before and they are trying super hard. If you are a "go with the flow" type of person, you'll have a great time. If you are going to compare cruising to 10 years ago, you might want to wait a bit until they get all the kinks ironed out. Me personally: We are going on a 10 day Alaska cruise in 32 days, a 15 day Hawaiian cruise in November and next year we have a 30 day Iceland/British Isles cruise booked and I'm loving every minute of being back on the water!
  5. I've been on both the Coral and the Majestic. The Majestic is a beautiful ship and it would be my preference. I am also a HAL fan and just got off the Zuiderdam and I like the small ships as well. If I was to book a room on the Majestic, I'd book one in the mid section of the ship. This makes it easy access to the International Cafe and a lot of stuff happens in the middle of the ship (Alfredos), games, etc. If your parents are pretty mobile, it's an easy ship to navigate (and it's pretty to boot).
  6. We ate at Harmony on the Majestic in October 2021 and I personally thought it was right up there with one of the worst meals I've ever had at sea. I love Chinese food, and this wasn't even close to being decent. The best thing was the miso soup and it was just miso soup, nothing fancy. Very rarely will I not eat a meal, but I couldn't eat it......my friend felt the same way about hers and she ordered completely different items than myself. I'd give it a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10.
  7. Does it have a QR code that can be scanned? We here in Calif have a similar registry which has a QR code that can be scanned. I still bring my vaccination cards as it seems to work better (for me anyway).
  8. I just looked up our cruise on the Victoria Port Authority website and it shows as "cancelled", so I'm hoping it's true.
  9. According to Prince Rupert's Port Authority, Ruby Princess will be docking in Prince Rupert beginning May 17th. I'm sailing 6/9 and I haven't been told anything yet? https://www.rupertport.com/terminal_details/northland-cruise-terminal/?utm_source=prince george citizen&utm_campaign=prince george citizen%3A outbound&utm_medium=referral
  10. You can download the app now and create your account. You can add your passport, vaccination info now, but you won't be able to add the next set of details until closer to your trip.
  11. there are a slew of discussions addressing this issue. Just scroll down a few pages and you'll find a bunch.
  12. I used to worry about that too, but now I've come to realize I am a tourist 🙂
  13. I'm glad, I always have preferred HAL's food to Princess!
  14. Panda Express is better 🙂
  15. Ha.....I've never had one. (apparently, you don't either).....LOL
  16. At this rate, you may end up with a free cruise before too long 🙂 Seriously, enjoy the ride and be glad you aren't twiddling your thumbs waiting for cruising to restart! Alaska is beautiful......keep us all posted on your trip!
  17. I agree with the "meh"! I would do differently, I'd pack my own wine and pay the corkage. You still come out ahead and won't end up with a headache 🙂
  18. I found a picture of it! They didn't charge us the additional $15 surcharge.
  19. unfortunately, I'd call on that one. If it doesn't say it on your summary, then they might have typed in the wrong code.
  20. I got one on 5/4 via email. Mine includes the Princess Plus Pkg along with a free balcony room & some free play. I actually booked 2 cruises with my offer and my booking summary shows they are included. However, there are a lot of different offers out there and many are different based on your rate of play.
  21. A disgrace pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. I'm also a well traveled foodie and will eat and try anything. But Harmony, was horrible from start to finish. Both my friends dishes and mine. The best thing was the miso soup (how hard is it to mess that up). The "extra surcharge" of the lobster dish was the most appalling. It was a slipper sized lobster cut into 6 pieces with the shell on.....I mean who cuts up a lobster with the shell still on? It was impossible to eat and the flavor was horrible/bland.
  22. My dad tested positive after a cruise (Jan 28th). He still tested positive March 13th with a PCR test and negative with the antigen test. He got a letter from his doctor for the "just in case" stating he had covid on such and such a date and was no longer contagious after doing the 10 day quarantine.
  23. The only food I thought was terrible was the Specialty Restaurant "Harmony". I eat anything and will try most things that people shudder over. The only thing I won't eat is black licorice (and McDonald's....lol)
  24. I'm one that LOVES the Medallion!
