  1. We did Alaska last September. Bummed, no glacier viewing.
  2. Well, plans change. I discovered the shuttles don’t run often on non-cruise days. So booked train transfer for after cruise. Now have hotel in Anchorage and will visit museums until flight.
  3. So we booked June 12 cruise today. We reserved a room at the Seward Breeze hotel for the 19th and will tour the town and enjoy fish dinner at the bar by the hotel. Will take a shuttle to Anchorage on the 20th. Depending on time of arrival, we will check bags at airport and tour Anchorage until midnight flight. ML
  4. We took the shuttle to the airport. There is a luggage storage place at the airport - fairly cheap. We took Uber to town and shopped, ate. Uber back to airport, pick up luggage and flew red eye home.
  5. I had a special on a pedicure during a port day. After going through the usual product up sell, the girl quickly showed me the bill, pointed to the mandatory tip, said that’s for the ship, then pointed to the optional tip and said that’s for me with a sweet smile. Since she did a really good pedicure, with full knowledge of the “con”, I did write in a tip. Just be aware.
  6. We’ve done it and it was amazing. But, on our September 2022 cruise it got cancelled by vendor. Bummed. They said ice was the problem.
  7. Kids swim arm bands fold flat and are great to cushion bottles for the trip home. I ordered a bunch for our group from a swim-supply site very cheaply.
  8. Got this idea from a relative. Use your phone to take pictures of passport, both sides of credit cards you are taking, the lane marker in the park/ride lot (learned this one the hard way, lost the little slip), your cabin door. Delete after vacation.
  9. Go for the OV. When the cruise gets closer, bid on a balcony or check to see how much an upgrade would be. Worked for us, less $$$ than originally booking a balcony.
  10. Surprisingly, an accessible balcony room was much more than a club balcony.on our upcoming cruise.
  11. One caution. We did Jewel northbound so came home via Vancouver. Security different than US. CPAP machine had to be dismantled. Long walks to gates.
  12. Please think twice about insurance. My cousin had a heart attack during our cruise this year. Expenses totaled 30,000+. Insurance covered just about all.
  13. You probably got the credit because you won’t be able to use the transfer service since you’re flying in early.
  14. Oh my, I LOLd at your poor husband too. On a cruise, I was getting out of shower, thought I heard hubby outside door calling me, then proceeded to flash room Stewart delivering strawberries. Whoops!
  15. Well, the older we get, the less we feel like shlepping around tons of luggage! I would agree that one or two pairs of dress slacks with silky glitzy tops with a nice sweater is perfect. I would leave the dresses (and pantyhose) at home. Also, I take one hoody, one jacket, one raincoat for outside. Gloves and hat come too. Yes, you can have laundry done but I only send sturdy clothes. They use hot dryers that can be tough on tops and bras. Hand washing might be better. Mary PS: consider packing cubes and compression bags.
  16. Just double check what your credit card insurance covers, evacuation? Medical? Our travel partners incurred $30,000 for an onboard heart attack last January. The NCL insurance went a long way in recouping their “it must be paid before you leave expenses.”
